  1. Hey Guys...!!!! You forgot the 2 most famous restaurants in Bkk of all time.

    1. Nana Hotel with the Nana Coffee Shop and Restaurant

    ...and...

    2. The Hidelberg down Soi 4

Both since the 60's, i guess??? But not sure.

Sorry lammbock, but the worst Breakfast in Bangkok IMO is to be had at the Nana,so no rush to try their Restaurant.

  2. :whistling:

Thailand warship in Africa is just a front. The real intention could be to show fire power infront of Saudi door step. Don't mess with our police appointment, or we will ...

SamritT,- you get better every week.

If the navy performs like the police, they'll be captured by the pirates without a shot be fired, or they'll make a corrridor for the pirates to pass through so long as they promise not to be violent with the guns they're carrying....

Thats more like it, lets get back to Thai bashing, much more fun than the spoutings from the rose colored spec tree huggers.

I've never seen a tree bearing 'rose colored specs', let alone hugged one, are they very common in Thailand ?

Loads of them on TV mate!

  3. I don't see too many complaints. Honest I don't. If you were to look at the complaint threads on TV and sorted them out for the same people that are always unhappy and looked at the legit comments, which really are not complaints as much as they are observations, you wouldn't see too many. It's just the usual same 30 or so people that will always be miserable. The roads could be paved with gold and they'd be complaining that it's unfair that it isn't more durable titanium.

20 years in Pattaya? Are you still wearing the same stained singlet as you did when you made your first walk about?

I think you might have uncovered the reason why people get so p1ssed off about what they refer to as 'Complaining' or 'whinging'.

Given that there are in fact very few complaint threads, and far more observations of real problems people have encountered - It raises the possibility that what is p1ssing some people off is the presentation of evidence that things are not quite as rosy as they've been telling themselves.

Other people's reports of day to day reality offending their own delusions.

Now that fits very well with the behavior we see here - Constant ranting about people reporting negative experiences .... And let's be honest here, there are an awful lot of these 'If you don't like it go home' threads. They almost deserve their very own sub-forum.

Great Idea! Perhaps call it: "The Go Home Sub Forum"

    Institutionalized, Members only need apply!

  4. Or would you prefer them to give a completely false account of life in Thailand?

If you left it to the whining, complaining brigade, TV readers would have a completely false account of life in Thailand.

But their isn't that many of them as you agreed with Geriatrickid!

"think you should read some of the posts here........Geriatrickid for one has already stated in his opinion there are not a large number of 'I hate Thailand' posts on the forum and I agree.........there will always be some aspects of life which we think could improve wherever we are........tell me where are you seeing all these 'overseas' failures that are 'hating' Thailand in their every post?"

  5. You drink too much. Are you an alcoholic?

Why don't you try going to the gym, swimming, reading a book, or going to Thai language lessons.

Come on Phil?how can he fit that lot into his drinking time?

Give the Guy a little bit of free time!

fwiw, for personal confirmation: the DNA testing can be conducted in many of the Thai hospitals now for about 8,000 baht or 260 USD.

But if you want it to be accepted by your embassy, then you would need to get the approval list from the appropriate embassies,

most would require that you submit samples collected by their representatives in an approved hospital, in front of an approved specialist; sent and received by the embassy themselves, at various costs.

Last year the cost for an U.S. approved DNA was less than 300 USD and it took less than 3 weeks from start to finish.

The analysis might shock some supposed paternal parents.

Do you really, really, really want to know, if you are the biological father ?

The DNA results have broken many farangs' hearts. The more important question that usually follows is,

if the child looks fair skin and somewhat like you, what would your response be to the child and the mother?

Many would raise hel, very few would find it in their heart to continue to be accepting and letting bygone be bygone.

And a few farangs that I know, won't let the mothers know what the DNA revealed because the child looked very much like them.

But if any of you want to be absolutely sure above and beyond any human reasonable doubt standard, then goes for the second DNA from a different lab, which would forever put your mind at ease, one way or the other.

For your own peace of mind, and not for anything of a professional nature:If you do your research via the Internet, DNA Tests are very simple nowadays,Pay by VISA or some other Debit/Credit Card, they will send a Test Kit,take a swab of the childs mouth, and return, results will follow,or there could be a cheaper route in Thailand?

However: I have to say I feel very sorry for anyone that is contemplating this course of action, which is a very drastic and heartbreaking decision, and if it turns out positive, will certainly seriously damage your relationship with the Mother.

In an ideal world one should on a basic level, feel some bond and sense that the child is theirs,it's difficult to describe, but this gut feeling/bonding should be a feeling not to be ignored.

Ask any Farang fathers if the child is theirs? and I suspect the answer in the vast majority of cases would be Yes! and they should also be able to add,"but I cant explain how I know this?"

Assuming the Relationship was steadfast at the time of conception, then why would one question their Paternity?

Nature speaks volumes! if only we can tune in.

  7. You have to understand that their is a certain type of person who is not happy unless they have something to complain about. It's just their nature, they aren't happy unless they can bitch about something.

This forum is simply their venue to complain.

    They are called English

pot calling the kettle black there mate.

ever listened to an aussie staying in london, in the middle of winter ?

<deleted> me, now that is whinging !

    I’d 2nd that tigerfish!

It never fails to amaze me, the first lot to start “DRIPPING” are Aussies, and what do they start dripping about………………………………”whinging Brits” That kettle calling the pot!

Hey! come on lads, some of the best friends I never had were Aussies!

  8. When my wife was diagnosed with cancer, at a private hospital, she decided to take advantage of her 30 Baht card and was referred to a government hospital. She had surgery and went through a course of radiotherapy at absolutely no cost. However, the medicines available under the scheme are quite limited. For example, they would not provide zinc, fluoride, oral anasthetic, etc. We bought those ourselves. However, these items are not part of standard treatment at the government hospitals here. That is, there are basic medicines which are prescribed under the scheme. If you want anything special you must buy it yourself.

I do not have any cover under this scheme. I have coverage provided by where I work and also social (in)security coverage which I pay into each month.

I understand that if you are married to a civil servant, then you are covered by your wife's/husband's health insurance scheme. This is different to the 30 Baht scheme (which also goes under various other names such as gold card scheme, etc).

Not 100%, but Amazing Treatment, for what little one expects from Thailand towards their Citizens.

Or Expat English, whinging about about the Expat English![b.....whinging![/b]

  10. Yepp, I have 2 that I got when I was a small kid in the 60's, they still look the same

The difference between your trolls and a Thai visa troll is that your trolls will be of great value to a collector, Thai visa trolls are worthless.

See if you can spot the difference below between a real troll and a Thai visa troll.

Any similarities between the Thai visa troll and any bona fide Thai visa members is purely coincidental

    Agreed: completely worthless species.

I prefer the one below though, much more sophisticated! whereas the TV Trolls are lacking in everthing, with a warped sense of self importance, and severely lacking in Humane traits!

  11. I never had much luck with ACDC.

So I downloaded a Free Photo Editor from Google called Picasa.

Seems that every Photo you upload from Scanner,Camera, etc is automatically loaded into Picasa.

Its easy to use, photo's can be attached to emails, such as Outlook,or sent to Desktop or a folder.

Best thing about exporting to emails it resizes it automatically without having to decide on the size yourself,or the type of file, such as Jpeg.

May be worth a try, for nothing!

  12. You on drugs or something? Best you do some serious research before wasting your cash!

My nice Isaan Girl to whom I have been happily married with for the past 10 years hocked any gold I bought her (3 pieces in total) back in the first and what was the hardest year of our relationship.

    NEVER AGAIN! :jap:

Hock their Gold, dont they all? I thought it was Par for the course!

  13. I have made the same inquiry when my Wife and our two children registered for the scheme, they only pay 30 baht for each visit to the government hospital. I as a Farang am ineligible for the 30 baht card but as the UK and Thailand have a mutual agreement I am registered at my local hospital and only have to pay for medicine, consultation and treatment are free. However we all have to pay the extra cost when we opt for a private room for a stay in the hospital. I believe this only applies to the State run hospitals.

This is particular useful if you live near a good local hospital, as the standards vary from one hospital to another.

    Hope this helps.

    Nibor.

If Thailand and the UK have a reciprocal agreement, then someone better hurry up and tell the NHS!

    I don't think it exists

    Reciprocal NHS services overseas

    No Thailand there....

    Agreed,

Never heard of a Reciprical agreement with the UK NHS and Thailand.

However Thai Spouses living in the UK,whether Resident or on a Settlement Visa are Entitled to NHS care.

The only agreements I believe in existance is EU countries and Commonwealth Countries, and certain others.

    Perhaps?someone knows different?

Only reciprical agreement with Thailand and the UK as far as I know of is: an Extradition Treaty!
