  1. I don't know how the Aussie health system works but the Uk National Health is plagued by Foreign Nationals on tourist visas using up tax payers resourses.

I think this may be the main reason for refusal. Although tourists to the Uk aren't eligible for NHS care no hospital would turn you away for treatment. And unlike Thai hospitals there is no wheeling you down the atm every day.

I believe that all Tourists should have compulsory health insurance same when we visit Thailand.

My wife's sister is Hiv positive Thanks to her druggy ex boyfriend and we know the chances of getting her to the uk to visit us are slim to none. There is no human rights need to issue a tourist visa either. A country can have whoever it likes in and refuse on the same basis.

  2. How did she manage that?

When we went to get a joint bank account as we were struggling with ID proof. They wouldn't accept NHs letters from the maternity dept etc so suggested that we add her to the local council electoral register. Not to vote but as an Adult living at my address.

We put down Thai Nationality on the form so if the local council made an error that isn't any fault of ours. However she hasn't voted here as yet and as no general election is due until after she gains Citizenship is unlikely to attempt to do so.

We were as surprised as you when the local election poll cards cane in the post and we used them as proof of address in the Ilr application and nothing was said to us about her breaking the law.

  3. 7by7 has hit the nail on the head.

This seems to be very ill thought out a knee jerk reaction to try and quieten those asking for Borders to be closed.

There are other ways of saving money and one is sending people back to the last safe country they left when seeking Asylum. For instance when found under a lorry after cruising the channel send them back to France.

The only reason they don't claim Asylum there is because the French aren't as soft as us on spongers.

This bill will alienate those of us that are fortunate enough to find love away from the EU. By the time we go for my wife's Citizenship next May we will have parted with around £3,500 just in Visa and exam fees.

  4. Submited 28,March,2013 - awaiting...

with her citizen certificate was an application to enroll on the electoral register which was confirmed yesterday.

Also an application for a first British passport!

    CCC

My wife is on the electoral register already and they was before she got her Ilr.

There is no issue with adding them on she's even received polling cards for local elections and the Police commissioner. We didn't use them they formed part of our recent ILR application.

We apply for Citizenship May next year then we will have true freedom as a family.

  5. She got her ILR Thanks for the pointers 7x7.

If this helps anyone else I submitted my self assessment that showed earnings of £8,000 pa after all deductions and she was granted it the same day.

    Docs submitted

    Marriage certificate

    My divorce cert

    Self cert

    3 months bank statement

    Passports

    Proof of address

    Rental tenancy agreement

3 months rental statements confirming up to date on rent.

That was all and it took a little over 2 hours to get the decision. weird thing is though she had to do her biometrics again even though they were done in Bangkok twice.

  6. This isn't a I've been cheated less than you so i am more into Thai society than you thread.

This is about the cruel reality of yet another bunch of greedy capitalists dressed up as socialists breaking yet more promises.

The children's tablets the rice prices what next?

Just let the rice market do what it does and if the farmers are resilient enough they will find new uses for their land. The problem is socialism doesn't like the little man to think.

This is what the Thais need to think about when they go to the polls next time.

  7. If she is applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain then she uses form SET(M) not FLR(M), which is for Further Leave to Remain.

You are allowed to claim tax credits, assuming you qualify for them, and as they must be claimed jointly by a married couple then not only can she be included in the claim; she must be!

Thanks I had a feeling it was but everytime you click the link for the old rules it takes you to the FLR M visa page.

It must be a bug in the UKBA website.

Here goes we have booked for 17th June £1424 fee thank you very much....

  8. If your cash is coming from abroad then definitely don't due to the strong baht.

We are currently saving money in Thailand to buy our family home and have had to look at downgrading our expectations due to the strong baht.

A mate bought in Spain when the € to £ was 1.7

He sold for less money when the £ dropped to par with the € and made over £30000 not including the rental money he made while he owned it.

Sometimes you have to look outside of the property price and look at the other factors.

  9. She made it possible for those with get up and go to earn their way out of poverty.

She stood firm when our dying industries tried to hold a gun to her throat.

She reformed the country and got us out of a pit of national debt.

Her only real mistake for me was Poll Tax but who has ridiculous Council Tax bills now? We all do.

RIP Maggie you were one of the greats.

  10. It also fair to say lot of the condo deveopers are offering the agents around 10% comm, thats why a lot of them are promoting condo sales so much, a lot of which have not even been started, let alone completed.

I recently sold my house which was on the market for 20m++, it was listed with over a dozen local agents for over 2 years, at the most i had 6 viewings through agents over that period, not 1 sensible offer from there clients. In the end i sold it to Bkk Thai's through my own for sale sign on the gate.

Its your own house put your own for sale sign up or advertise it in local media yourself, so the agents don't like it, but if there not bringing clients, do it yourself & save there fee, at the end of the day its your house/condo & your entitled to sell it anyway you choose?

With a 20 million property you only have a very limited market for potential customers.

Those properties don't sell every day whereas a 600I box can be bought by just about everyone looking got a property. Some agents specialise in the larger house but most are genetic and have a mix.

Glad to see someone posted the % for UK agents I knew just 1% was dreamland.

And what agent in Thailand is going to work for 1% of 600k ? That would equate to £120 commission for maybe a weeks work showing that customer around plus liasing with the various parties.
