Was he hanging, or kneeling? Surely it can't be both. I'm confused; if one is hanging then surely they're not in contact with the ground.

He was hanging, then he lowered himself to the ground reached into his pocket and grabbed the phone and threw it into the pool. Then he knelt down and went to sleep.

His friends who were drinking and eating with him thought , oh party trick, now he's crashed we go home.

    Case closed.

Thanks, but this is ambiguous. It mentions relationship to a family in Thailand, but that family might or might not be Thai. It doesn't specify. Two, it mentions hotel bookings and invitation letters, which does not apply to, say, an alien male married to a Thai female and appears to be aimed at a casual visitor. And three, it asks for confirmation of your residence outside of Thailand - in this case the UK or Ireland.

Therefore, it doesn't appear to be relevant to an alien living in Thailand and married to a Thai. Clear as mud, as usual.

There is also this, which doesn't mention single or multi entry visas if married to a Thai, nor the financial requirements. https://thaievisa.go.th/Home/Family

Can't get non o visas anymore from Thai consulate in NZ.

You have to apply to the royal Thai Embassy in Wellington.

My friend just applied and he had his marriage certificate in Thai and English and they won't issue him a non o as they require a copy of her passport.

He owns the house in Thailand he built it for his wife, she is a school teacher, he gets free medical being married to her she has never travelled so no passport he got a tourist visa in the mean time and will apply in Thailand-- it's nuts.

    Held by whom ?

The cafe, the internet provider ???

Ah a search , seems to suggest this is in fact very recent and very much in international news!

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/oct/10/thai-cafes-forced-to-track-customers-wifi-use-sparking-free-speech-fears

We  are all tracked, apple phones are bad for this, androids also now can restore data from an old apple you once used.

I changed to an android from my old apple and retrieved my data, not only did I get the data from the apple but I got phone numbers from just about every phone I ever had, numbers of friends I call in Thailand from old phones that died years ago.

How ever data storing at internet cafes will be a nightmare as Thai children play games for hours in these places.

Still the secret police will have to sift through this game data to know what these kids are up to.

    Pol Pots internet cafes.

I do not have a problem requiring visitors to have health insurance; it is simply a good idea.

However, the quote above leaves me speechless. Are there any valid figures to show a lack of repayment? Especially by long-stayers? Generally all I hear about are tourists, not long-term stayers, who don't have insurance and end up with a 'Go fund me' page.

Add a few Baht tax to all plane tickets/landings, use the money to aid foreigners hurt in the Kingdom, and problem solved.

It doesn't need to occur like this, and thus makes me wonder what else is at play...

Exactly, put a 500 BHT tax on the entry tax all bases covered, end of story.

What gets me is they said this was put on hold a few weeks ago now it is back.

My friend went to get a NO oa visa in NZ yesterday and had to have a copy of his wife's passport, even though he has the The marriage certificate, owns a house in which they live.

She has never traveled as she is a school teacher , she has never had a  passport.

The consulate said it only going to get worse for expats and the think it is ridiculous.

so she cuts 2 pages out of her passport and complains when she gets detained.

Seems strange, she made her own amendment, maybe she removed info that she did not want seen.

She could have got a new passport as she did this 2 years ago.

Very stupid thing to do, the treatment sounds a bit over the top, maybe she did not act very well at the gate to LOS.

Not staying 30 days or extending, and staying out a couple of weeks between visits helps. But whether or not you’ll get questioned or worse in the future is anyone’s guess.

They are mostly interested in stopping people living in the country full time as tourists. A Tourist visa would help as IO’s are less likely to deny entry.

If I were you I’d keep using the visa exemption until they stopped me or put pressure on to get a visa.

continue as you are nothing wrong here

And how many of the terrorists in the past were western farang??

Right, we need to make it harder for them to visit Thailand...

The terrorism they are talking about is financial terrorism.

The Chinese tourists are manipulated by the tour organisers, they only go to organised hotels and restaurants, owned by Chinese- Thai. They create havoc on the beaches. They storm, through tourist venues, scream their heads off when they arrive at the airport and are of no value to the average Thai earning from tourism.

This creates empty guest houses and small hotels.

The bars and nightclubs suffer, then by keeping the bars open later to appease the owners who are suffering, plus the staff, tuk tuks , street vendors ect, then the crime rate goes nuts.

If they can not make the payments for hire purchase and drinks ect then the theft/crime rate goes mad.

    It is a proven stat.

Take away income and jobs, then drug use and crime escalates.

Who is driving this madness? I won't comment but have a fair idea.

Big Joke was got rid off as he was getting to popular and may have been a threat.

He also was stepping on some big toes.

The TM30 is pathetic, it will at a guess slide back to it's old state, just to save face it will remain in the background.

Looking ahead if things are getting so bad for the genuine Thais tourist dollars, then there possibly will be a voiced opposition to it --- who knows?

Our local Tesco has tried to introduce large brown paper bags on 3 occasions I know of. Customers seem to be OK with them but the checkout staff get very frustrated trying to unfold and pack them.

Stores like Makro will not allow you to carry reusable carry bags with you into their stores so one has to go through their bullshlt method of placing items from one trolley into another as they are being checked out then repacking in the boot of the car. These effin wackers are not trying to help the situation

NZ has just outlawed plastic bags in supermarkets, although the small ones for veges are still allowed.

The stores sell  reusable carry bags complete with advertising for $1.00

You do notice a big difference already.

    Thailand should follow suit.

Plastic is a scourge of the earth, which is under threat world wide.

Clean and green NZ has a disgusting amount of it in rivers and coastlines, not counting the <deleted> in land fills that takes over 500 years to break down.

Just recently a flood washed out a old land fill near a river down south and the mess is going to take years to clean up, the plastic that was washed out of the landfill.

She opened the account in the name of the bank teller for convenience.... I.Q. of a durian.

    That is generous.

Funny thing is Thais will trust other Thais for advice.

Even if you were a Falang immigration expert lawyer, the advice that you gave someone would be overridden by a simple gathering at the local temple, and gossip between friends.

A couple of Thai men I knew who overstayed in NZ, were told to go to a immigration lawyer who might get ministerial help for them to stay in NZ.

They went to the temple to prey and local Thais told them to go see a man near by who would help them easy.

They went, they talked ,they were told to go see the mans sister at a health clinic to get a medical form the next day.

They gave the man their passports and 5k Nz each.

When they returned home the Immigration were waiting for them, one ran and escaped the other deported.

They lost the ten k NZ.

The man who escaped went to the Police , they did nothing, the Man involved was a scammer and had been on TV, he was caught with 30 passports in his possession.

    End of story.

    Discrimination

Where are the automatic gates for Germans, Americans, Brits?

Yes , i am  a Kiwi of total British decent, considering the mixed culture today I can not see why Australia or NZ would have priority for the above.

Considering the crime rates, or the amount of criminals caught in LOS, NZ numbers are quite low, Australia a lot higher.

Population numbers may play a part in crime rates.

Seems that most of the bad criminals come from Africa and the middle east, Russia and China.

So why give us priority, maybe this is just the beginning and Brits and America, Germany will follow.

and still the govt does nothing to stop this carnage, the vans are death machines and the drivers need to be properly tested and licensed. The vans need to be speed limited to 100k at most and driving times need to be adhered to, maximum time behind the wheel needs to be made mandatory with random testing for drugs & alcohol. The amount of accidents and deaths vans cause is beyond a joke

exactly, they are a danger to life, I have had several close calls in them, I won't get in them now unless I am desperate.

The govt is more interested in helping health insurance companies fleece expats and tourists.

More interested in TM 30 and driving tourists out of Thailand.

Not the land of smiles anymore. the land of sorrow.

    Another tragic event RIP all.

Watching channel 8 Thai news for an hour and nothing but horrible sad murders and road rage beatings.

Seems Thais love this, they love soaps where people shoot and bash each other and all the drama.

The roads are just one big tragic soap, only it is real.

    Bt40,000 outpatient coverage???
This would be the worse. This means you need to buy a much more expansive coverage plan than you might need just for this visa. I am not interested in outpatient coverage and still forced to buy it?
This will shake out a lot of foreigners living here. As if the outpatient medical services would be the ones which have outstanding bills. No doctor treats you "outpatient" if you don't show your credit card or health insurance. It's all about emergencies (in terms of "open bills")

I recieved hospital treatment for a serious accident in Udon Thani, caused by some idiot letting off industrial fireworks in the street.

    Serious damage to my eye.

Cost me about 60,000 BHT for MRI and hospital stay.

I was not allowed to leave without paying, I had not intention of not paying.

I live elsewhere now and see a outpatient doctor at a clinic for a check up every 3 months.

    Costs me 3to 500 BHT.

    No problem.

Some expats get medical treatment in Thai hospitals cheaper than getting it at home.

    Petcharat is a good hospital

I have never heard of anyone I know doing a runner.

I do believe what a previous poster said ,that this is scheming insurance companies dipping into the public till.

Hua Hin public hospital sees heaps of expats, they even streamline you through a special room .

Never heard of a non payment issue.

The RTP Bar and Club Owners Association must be feeling the pinch and applying a bit of pressure.

He,s got the wrong end of the stick here.

Leaving pubs open legally longer will only mean that guzzlers will stick to the end and spend a bit more.

Then when they wobble out of the bar they can easily be mugged.

Mugging drunks might assist the income for those that live off the bar girls, that are now struggling because everybody is leaving.

I remember travelling through Burma and needing heaps of copies of paperwork to go through check points.

All the hassle of immigration paper work every time you moved.

Thailand has gone back to the dark ages.

I can not see why you can not have a permanent tm30 in your passport if you live In Thailand.

I have rented the same house for four years now, it should only need renewing when your rental agreement expires or you change residence.

All I had to do last time was show my rental agreement to immigratrion and I have never renewed it since.

Will be a hassle now and fixing this problem might full the bars back up, not longer guzzling times.

Anything else going to banned? this is getting boring now

This will incite more violence, common sense should prevail here.

When I was a smoker I always went outside from a bar even though there was no ban.

At home I smoked outside, I never smoked near children.

Those who still love to smoke will continue to do so, does not matter if your falaang or asian .

I was told to grin and bear expats smoke as they had no intention of not smoking at the local, and when five or six lit up I was smoking from their second hand smoke.

I don't think the old village smokers will take a bit of notice.

As tourism drops crime and drug use increases, only natural as honey get no money, no money for cigarette, no money for whiskey or ya ba.

This problem has already begun and will get worse.
