And we all have to thank the Islamic terrorist for that, who made traveling a pain in the ass with all the security scrutinise time consuming and the billions that it costs the airlines which we the travelers ultimately pay for...

However the upside, is-- the security companies and the arms companies, and the whole war machine are making money, creating jobs, nuisance and more terror.

Thank you for kicking us off with a positive note. It's a breath of fresh air from the usual negative comments from the "knocking everything Thai" quarter.

I told the guys at the local soi shop bar they should not smoke in front of us non smokers, they said F off if you want to drink here its our right.

So they won,t stop and the bar owner wont stop them and I cant stop them , nor can I stop the Thai people that smoke at home, nor will they stop.

So even though they have laws , falungs wont stop nor Thais.

I don't smoke so I just avoid sitting next to the smokers but they are still my good mates .

I used to smoke but gave it away years ago as I could not catch my breath walking.

Thai brewery's could make any beer under contract to overseas breweries, they do the in most countries now.

Budweiser is made in NZ for the NZ market along with Sapporo and many other brands all brewed under license.

Thailand could do this, Maybe they are just plain greedy

There was a guy in Hamelin, Germany a few years ago who was an absolute wizard at getting rid of rats.

I am not sure if he is available, but he may be on the internet or perhaps on Facebook or Twitter.

We had a german in the far north of NZ, he was good at getting rid of opossums, he trapped and ate them, he cleaned the whole of Hokianga out when he was there.

Sadly the poor guy got deported, if the NZ pest control authorities had known maybe they would have let him stay.

When I was growing up, we took drivers education courses. They showed us horrendous films, or semi trucks plowing into cars, and literally obliterating everything in their path. They also showed us graphic images of head on collisions. 120mph impacts. Even as a young kid, it made quite an impression. It was horrific, and it was hard to get those images out of your head afterwards. But, it left a lasting impression, and when I started driving, I understood it was serious business, and that it was a very dangerous thing to do.

I see people driving here, with their families in the car, and doing things, and taking the kinds of risks no rational or sane person with common sense would do. What for? To gain one minute? Why take those risks? What is the logic? Often, when I am cruising along at 100kph, someone cuts right in front of me. Or someone comes out from the side road, right in front of me. I have to slam on my brakes, or change lanes to avoid him. I look in my rearview mirror, and there is nobody behind me. So, if he had waited two seconds, he would have had completely safe passage onto the highway. What gives? Where is the intelligence, caution, and prudence? Where is the common sense? What about just the survival instinct?

The only way to survive here on the road, is to be patient, have eyes in the back of your head, drive with caution, and always, and I mean always watch out of the other guy. Chances are, he does not have much driving skill, nor patience, nor reason, nor common sense. You cannot be too careful on the road here. Especially considering that the toy police offer no traffic safety, nor enforcement of the law. And Casper the ghost is more visible than the incredibly hapless highway patrol.

All of this applies even more so, if driving a motorcycle.

Every day I took my kid to school in Hua Hin resulted in a near miss from motorcycles.

They repeatedly cut in front of you along the canal road, you have to be aware of them all the time.

On the highway the idiots keep coming from behind, tailgating, if you don't get out of the way to let them past.

They will cut in from the inside lane with the smallest gap to overtake before you if you let them.

You have to watch the rear all the time.

Then when they approach an intersection they speed up to try to beat whoever is trying to cross or u turn.

They do this sober or drunk, once my wifes brother sped up the car and when I asked why he is driving fast now, the answer was that my wife told him she felt a bit sick so he thought he would go faster to get home quicker, endangering children and every person in the vehicle. TIT.

Well, that's a new one. I am often surprised at the depths to which stupidity runs.

Have to say though that the four immigration officers in the photo look a little too smug for my liking. After all, they simply arrested someone incredibly dumb, who just walked up to them, apparently blithely ignorant of the trouble he was in, but they look like they caught a master criminal.

Anyway, they have locked him up, when a possibly better option would have been to send him on his way, with a blacklist from reentering for the appropriate period, along with the suggestion he grow some brains.

I think they locked him up to see if he can pay the over stayer fees.

If he is a master criminal he will not have a problem with this.

Maybe even get a new visa in the process.

I wish you luck sir, I really do, but you are not going to get any kind of justice in this.

Know your place and move on.

Hit 20 times with a baseball bat, to think that this needs an investigation of more than one week and a charge of manslaughter at the least, is beyond belief---- but TIT.

    Shocking, poor boy RIP.

Having seen the censored footage on the manager website, it's obvious the woman is a paid actress and probably doesnt belong to the parlour it is filmed outside. There is clearly a third party cameraman in the room, which would be pretty hard to swing in a "traditional" parlour.

Even still, it's a laughable denial that many in the "traditional" massage parlours in CNX dont offer extra services

    A very happy ending...????

Given that she is still alive, it will be interesting to hear her side of the story.

yes it will, if she retains memory of the event, quite often there is memory loss after impact injury.

I have seen and Thai women threaten to kill themselves and try to stuff tablets down their throat.

Drama live, but when it is in your face hard to deal with.

Only hope if she did go off her head then she might learn something.

Hope the truth does surface and if the story is true then she is a lucky girl who might need some counselling and the right kind of help, wherever that may be in LOS.

The bloke might need some as well.

I see just 1 x 1000 baht. Where is the second note?

He doesn't look as if he has ever been short of a meal. So what a low thing to do. He saw her drop it from the very beginning.

Yes, unless there is a 2k baht note we do not know of.

I would say the perp has had experience in survival, the way he put his foot over the note , he spotted it early and was getting ready and a bit anxious to pick it up.

He put his foot over it while she left and got the drop on her.

Not often a falang gets an advantage over a local.

Not to say I condone this, I would have picked it up and given it back to her.

maybe the falang thought it was the wind of chance that blew this note from the wind to his receiving foot of fortune.

It isn't a bad system but yes, they should also erect one of those hand sanitiser dispensers next to the scanner. We are talking about thousands of hands on that pad, so some concerns about hygiene should be addressed. So many of those dispensers around the city - in public toilets, restaurants, hospitals, shopping centres - you name it. I doubt it will be too expensive to install.

The sanitary system is working well.

$500,000 deposit towards the new equipment sanitised.

People will still sneak in end out, I wonder if the Burmese will have to use the scanners after they wade across the borders with those packages on their heads??

Overall I hope it does remove some scum.

what a good idea.  No, I'm not being sarcastic.

Yes, this is a great idea, I would be happy to pay 500 BHT upon entering.

This tax can be paid with your ticket.

It does need admin, if it is used properly, and many countries use a tax upon arrival or leaving then it is good for all.

The only thing I see as a problem is that if you are staying on long term then they may treat that as freeloading on the system.

However if you can only stay one year at a time, then maybe the fee should be paid with visa renewals as well.

There would be plenty in the kitty @ 500BHT per person.

They could plow the excess into improving hospitals for Thailand as well.

Could be enough to mount a road safety campaign, get some speed cameras on the highways and police.

    Maybe that's a dreammmmmm.

Yep! That is seriously nasty. I have been here 12 years and stopped going into the water anywhere near Pattaya and Jomtien about 11 years ago, as the water is always shitty to some degree. Stupidly all those years ago, I thought the council would address the problem, though as is apparent from these pictures, and the puzzled commentary on its origin, they have no clue whatsoever how to address the situation. Swimmers not wanting nasty infections or to die, should definitely stay out of the water here.

I can remember back 20 yrs ago swimming on Jontiem which I like then as Pattaya water was slimy then.

You see this black silt at many beaches now, Koh Samui etc..

Even the Kings beach at Hua Hin has an outlet by the public playground that discharge that horrible black smelly stuff.

I am sure vehicle road rubber, wear from tyres drifts from the roads into culverts and into the ocean along with the sewerage.
