You know I tried them twice about 6 months ago for some small amounts and it was a pain.  Each time shortly after initiating the transfer online I got an email form them that I needed to call them within X-hours to confirm the transfer otherwise the transfer would be cancelled.   So, I called...did the confirmation and the funds arrived OK days later.  I used the ACH funding method where funds are pulled from my bank and WU took 4 business days to complete the transfer to my Thai bank acct...both times.  Yeap....low sending fee....pretty good exchange rate....but slow when using the ACH funding method.    The slowness and having to call both times to keep the transfer going turned me off.

I never use ACH.. always used my debit card and received the funds usually the next day 2 days at the most..

Now my back notified me I can use my debit card here in Thailand at any ATM that ia a Visa or Visa Plus, [which most are]  with no fees. If I allow my US bank to do the conversion, the rates are very competitive.  So I have been using ATM's for 3/4 months now.. I like no waiting.. money in my hand...lol

I can assure the final approval is done  by division 4 that has its headquarter in Koen Kean and it is not located at the same location as the immigration office there. There may be further checks of you rapplication at the local office before it is sent to Division 4.

I'm not 100% sure Joe, but I believe the new KK Imm offices houses Division 4 HQ. There are lots of Imm police and the infamous BMW's parked there.  I will ask next month when I do my 90 day report.

It depends upon which extension your are referring to.

I am sure some have been denied at the division level for some types of extensions that had to approved at the division level. But normally if there is a problem they will contact you if there is a problem get it resolved. I suspect some are taken care of by the offices that accepted the application.

I received my "under consideration" stamp for a marriage extension from KK Imm.  In KK, the IO accepts the application, checks it for the proper documentation and fianincal requirement and passes the paperwork to a group in the back who actually check the information. I received 2 calls from  a person in this group who had questions about my application.

Once these people are satisfied, the paperwork goes back to the IO.

Really interesting, thanks for all the details.

This is insane, never heard of this before, especially the witnesses from your same area. Has anyone else had to follow all those steps in this forum ?

Do you think you had to give so many details about your work because you chose the 40k income-transfer method from abroad ? Do you think you'd have to provide all the details if you simply had 400k in your bank account sitting there for 2 months before applying (usually enough for what I read before on this site).

I'm planning to get married to my long-term girlfriend next year as border crossing doesn't seem to be an option anymore for a long time indeed, your post comes in quite handy especially since I'm self-employed as well (not my own company though, I'm a freelancer hired project by project).

My marriage extension went exactly the same way in KK. I went back 6 times before I actually got my visa.

I get Entresto at Siam Pharmacy in Korat for 2800 for 100 mg I only need 500 I cut in two compared to BKK hospital 9500b , Siam is Incredible pharmacy and Huge has two in Korat , Run don’t walk , Entresto in USA 1000 dollars a month Siam 50 bucks

Thanks for the info.. I am covered by the Gov Employee Health plan and get my meds free. I take 200 mg of Entresto twice a day.

  6. I had 1 stent at Khon Kaen Hospital 5 years ago cost 200,000. I had a second stent and angiogram at Queen Sirikit Heart Center in KK 2 years ago. Cost 250,000 for both. Fortunately, I am covered by the Thai Gov plan and only paid for my private room and a B280 Dr. fee.

My meds are quite expensive about 12,000 a month as I take Entresto which is very expensive. Again the Thai Gov plan covers that as well.
