That's what they do with many "challenged" Thai teachers and look at the mess it causes!No I have no personal experience.
Sounds as if someone should have a quiet word with one of the more Senior immigration officials.
The girl maybe needs a change of job.
If the Lady really is "challenged" the Thais should be applauded for for attempting to integrate her into the workforce

To get the tusks they must have already destroyed the most beautiful thing - the original owner!I believe the normal procedure is to destroy smuggled ivory but wouldn't it make more sense to polish carve it as whole tusks if possible, and put it on display for us all to enjoy. At international airports for example with the story of it origin. It just seams such a shame to destroy something so beautiful.

Good post - "theblether" I like your posting as well but have to comment on one part "You may get bailed out a couple of times by pals". Over my many years here i have helped many Westerners who, mainly through their own fault have got themselves into difficulties and I must tell you that for all the help I gave it wasn't worth the effort! One guy who I had twice given a full time job to and who both times just walked out after he had made some money, really repaid my "help". In 1997 I was building a resort when (as some remember) the Baht collapsed. I had millions in assets and no cash! The guy in question has a job and I asked for a small loan until I could off load some of the assets. His answer was no as he was saving to buy a golf membership! Luckily for me after a few years I made a full recovery, he crashed yet again and needless to say when he asked for help got the same answer he gave me.
Another (American) guy was desperate to come and work in Thailand and so I broke my company rules and told him that when he arrived I would have a management job for him. We kept the job open waiting and waiting for his arrival. When he eventually arrived he started work, got his salary and started messing around in bars then, most mornings forgot to go to work! We didn't need to sack him after the next pay day he just disappeared. Six months later (when he was about down and out) I met him at a friends birthday party he, was desperate for a job and almost begged me to help him again. i returned the favour he did for me with a firm NO!
Yet another one (a Brit) was completely down on his luck and i gave him a job working on my house, he needed some money in advance (as he didn't have a pot to pi$$ in) I gave it to him, he disappeared and local Thai's finished the work.
I could go on and on but my point is that many are only "pals" whilst they want something, after they get it they return to their normal "abnormal behaviour" and probably try it on with other "pals" until they run out of options and are forced to leave Thailand.
Much better to give westerners advice such as "go home"and keep your money and assistance in your pocket!

My UK pension, goes City Bank, to KBank Bangkok with a fee of 150 baht to transfer it to my account in Chang Rai. However this month it's gone up considerably from last month which, (last month) was the first increase for about 12 months! I hope the Thai Baht keeps falling and the Pound keeps going, going, GOING!!!
By the way it's 13 payments per year!

I live in an area with many Muslim, Christian, Jewish and Buddhist people who all live as friends. You know why? They all respect each other, regardless of religion! The world might just produce less terrorists if people copied and showed more respect to others!Please Thailand does not need more Muslims n the country especially these types that can be converted into right wing Islamic terrorists just like the Somalians. Send them to other Islamic countries or else put them on the boats and tow them off. The Human Rights Grps and NGOs can go screw themselves! Where are they when these muslims cause problems for other citizens . The muslim religion is such that it claims that all non-believers are infidels and they classify us as worst than dogs that can be killed vice versa thats the way we should treat them.For those of you non-muslims who defend them, I pray the day will never come when u or your loved one is hurt by the actons of these muslims.In fact whenever possible, boycott muslims products and services.
