  1. Saturday evening at the InterContinental Hua Hin:

Mercedes SLS - sold, 24 million THB (sticker 25 million so 1 million knocked off for a former PM :P )

    Mercedes '55 (IIRC) 300SL ("gull-wing") - fully restored, 6-year restoration by a German gent.

New Porsche Cayenne Diesel (full RUF kit) - VERY quiet diesel engine. Torque = insane. Closed-road testing on Sunday morning (too hungover). Interior didn't strike me as so "Porsche" anymore IMO (also I'm not sure if it's going to run properly on Thailand's sub-Euro III-spec diesel....... but the buyers of these types of cars I suspect don't really care much....)

    Ferrari 599 - omg. BEAUTIFUL - black....

Porsche RUF GT2 - kitted out, I couldn't even tell if it was a GT2....

    Ferrari F420 Scuderia - niiiiceee.....

Maserati Granturismo - I don't know if it was an "S" or not, I'm not that well-read on the Maseratis, still she was a beauty.

Range Rover L322 Sport Supercharged - the others were amazing, but the RR just fits my personality more, IMO.

That was just at the InterContinental

Also got to check out a Porsche 997 - jesus. power much???? And then a Porsche Carerra 4s - wow..... IIRC you can order the drop-top version of the 997 for an mere 3 million baht extra........

Other houses I got to see 2 Cayenne S's (one family), one Cayman, 2 of the new Merc E-coupes, one of the new E-cabriolets, an X6 and X5 4.6is (one family - I'd never even seen a 4.6is in Thailand thus far), among many many many other cars - too many to mention, these are just off the top of my head of the stunners that caught my eye.

I know I said I wold snap some photos - but you kind of don't do that when you're allowed access to these vehicles. Great memories though - I hope I never forget....

Oh and there is an Enzo Ferrari Enzo in Bangkok. I've never driven it (actually I've never even driven one, period). But I will get my hands on it one way or another.... this I swear. And I will have no shame when it comes to taking pics/videos.......

My 2 favorites were the Merc SLS and the Ferrari 599...... But I still like drop-top anything.

I'm sure i'm not the only one who is curious as to how you get to see so much car porn.

maybe the enzo is a copy?.....I'm glad mine isn't LOL

  2. Comprehension problems again T/A? Where does it say that exactly?? Quote please?? It isn't there but it's still likely, I know many people who lack self confidence resent people who do and are only prone to make snide comments while sitting in their desk chair at a key board. Of course if the opportunity to prove such is denied that's the easiest way to claim other wise but I still put my cards on the table, poker instead of hollow words anyone??

I think us readers can draw our own conclusions to the written word. :)

PS. Do you like my spell check, good eh, you should download, give readers the right impression eh.

Are you drunk again or just rambling to yourself?? Seems so...... Ahhh here's the problem....

now now children, lets all get along!!

back on topic, if my car wasn't getting some work done i would definately go check it out.

What class is the beamer racing in? and who is the driver, thai or farang?

    good luck anyway

  4. hi there

ever since the TV upgrade i cannot access my messages. I go to the 'messenger' icon, it opens a new window and nothing comes up.

Am i doing something wrong? Will all my old messages still be there?

    thanks

  5. watched a top gear last night, they tested a caterham (not sure what model), a very gay lookin car but very fast, 0-60 in 2.9!!!!

Stig did a lap of their track and it came in #3, beating the veyron.

Certainly proves says a lot about power to weight ratio. It's been banned from racing because it's "too fast":

"We were banned from production sportscar racing in the UK in the mid-80s because no-one could keep up, and now we are excluded again", explained Simon Nearn, managing director of Caterham Cars.

Last time out, the ultra-reliable lightweight two-seater not only won its class around the fearsome 13-mile Nordschleife circuit, but finished 11th overall from a list of 200 starters that included a host of supercars from BMW and Porsche.

Nearn added: "I guess it’s embarrassing for us to roll up with a car that costs a fraction of the price of the rest of the field, can be driven to and from the track and run for 24 hours without a glitch."

  6. Are there any Chevrolet Engines here with paperwork?

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but came across this today and thought it might be of relevance to those looking for V8 engines in TH:

    http://www.cm-club.com/vb/showthread.php?t=60499

Scroll down past the 1,001 ads to get to the juicy stuff :D

For those who can't read Thai, note that ราคา xxx000 บาท is the Thai Baht price.. :)

whats the story with that website, seems to be based in US but gives prices in B? Obviously the engines aren't in LOS

does anyone know if those prices are reasonable?

    cheers

  7. anyone else had problems with lazy attendents that end up letting the gas dribble down the paintwork? I'm starting to think i may either have to fill it myself or supervise them to ensure this doesn't happen. I wonder what all these lambo's and ferrari's i see driving around do? Not to mention anyone that values their paintwork!!

Kind hate the thought of actually having to get outa the car......but seems it must be done in order to aviod this.

    cheers

  8. after reading an old thread about the impracticality of farangs importing cars, i was left wondering if thai's fare any better with the crooks at customs. And what about dealers, obviously there are a lot of imported cars here both new and 2nd hand here, it's hard to imagine that every dealer has connections with senior customs officials. So how do these guys get cars imported without being taken to the cleaners by customs?

    cheers
