When I saw the headline I thought: Probably it won't be so bad, just a politically correct overreaction.
And then I saw what she thinks is funny. Really? Maybe she should look for another job.
Disgusting!

In a popular interpretation, what Trump did is against the Constitution of the USA. I want to try and convince everyone in the USA that this action really does rise to the level of "High Crimes and Misdemeanors" so that an impeachment would be justified. Unfortunately, I am not sure that the majority of Americans share my value system and will see this the same way.
Do you see the difference between those 2 statements? You are trying to raise your value system to the level of an objective fact. That simply isn't the case. I really wish people would try and be more honest with what is going on here. It would really help the country, unlike all this partisan rhetoric.
Thanks for your detailed reply. In principle you are right.
However, let's not forget that this is not a lawyers' forum. It's an open forum where everybody can share their opinion.
I read many articles from different sources about what Trump did. And I watched a couple of videos.
IMHO it is clear that what he did was against the rules. (But please don't ask me to quote every paragraph). Further it was very obvious that Trump and many GOP politicians didn't want to hear the truth of people who work with Trump in the White House.
All this together adds for me up to something like 99% sure he is guilty.
The 1% is if all the people who work directly with him would testify that this was somehow something Trump didn't know about. And we all have a good idea how likely that is.
What I find most problematic is the fact that lots of GOP politicians openly say they will support Trump no matter what. That is like if my brother is accused of murder and I say he is innocent without knowing any details. He is not innocent just because he is my brother. It would be fair to listen to the evidence. And if the evidence is against him then there is little I could do. I could demand he should get a lite sentence because he is such a nice guy. But that does not change the facts if he is guilty.

I haven't noticed that all the Brits who are not yet drunk act very rational in Thailand...
And obviously not only the Brits.

Option 2: I don't know the name of that service but you can get shops to put bolts on your number. You give them the license plate and then that is put into a very tight more or less invisible frame with bolts.
Don't ask me how it's called but it seems to be common here. Ask in a motorcycle shop.
Here is a picture of that "frame". It's molded around the number plate and now the number plate and that "frame" are one piece and can't be easily separated.

Not to every thread. Only to the relevant threads.
And US support for Israel is very relevant.

Why?
Trump supports Netanyahu and Israel like no other recent US president.
Do you think that is irrelevant?

If there is any evidence then let the US and/or Ukraine investigators and courts work on that - just like any other alleged corruption case.
Trump wanted dirt against his opponent, not more and not less. And that has very little to do with the question if anybody in the Biden family is corrupt.
What Trump did is against the constitution of the USA. But somehow many people in the USA seem to care little about that little detail. Maybe you should amend the constitution: If POTUS is from our political party then he can do whatever he wants, we don't care.

Saying something is doing something.
Trump wanted that announcement so that he can use it in his presidential campaign against Biden in the USA.

That is not entirely correct.
All the witnesses described that it was important for Trump that the Ukraine PM announces such an investigation in public. The announcement was what Trump wanted, the actual investigation seems to be not so important.

Over the years many farangs arrived here and many left.
Many companies hire people for a couple of year and then they are moved to other countries.
Now more and more positions are filled with Thai national and no (expensive) farangs anymore.
And then there are obviously people who decided to come to Thailand and live here i.e. because of all the nice girls.
The girls are still here but the nightlife is a lot more expensive than it was 10 and 20 years ago. And I think that has the consequence that fewer people decide to live in Thailand.
Before I moved to Thailand over 20 years ago I looked at lot of detail like the economy, good living conditions, friendly people, and also not expensive entertainment. At that time Thailand was more or less perfect.
Now I still stay here and I like it.
But if I would now be in the same situation like 20 years ago in a cold European country thinking where to go then I guess I would not move to Thailand anymore. Because it's nothing special anymore and it's not cheap anymore. Now there are other attractive places which didn't exist like that many years ago. And within the EU it's easy for people to move i.e. from a cold country to a warm country without any hassle.

1 hour ago, meand said:Anyway, this is an interesting discussion, and I appreciate all views.
But, first, I just feel it is highly exaggerated that "overnighters come and ruin the facilities". I would stipulate they probably care less, but what are they gonna do?! Seriously. Crack their heads on the bottom of the pool? I would think noise would be more of a concern than damage.
On that same point, I see nobody mentions how NICE it could be that overnighters are in your building. Think: Brazilian girlfriends spending their holiday in Thailand. In other words, you are going to get some interesting turnover in your otherwise very dull residence.
The only way you can enforce an owner to not have guests is to register everyone who enters the building. I am sure if you did that the same people complaining about the overnighters would be up in arms for having to register their overnight friends. You can't have things both ways.
Anyway, depending on where exactly you live, i would estimate most guests would be extremely well behaved, and then there is the airbnb guest ratings mentioned earlier. And, if you do happen to live in an area that get sexpats next to you very often. Isn't that something you would have to blame on yourself as far as building choice?!
Again, you can't have these arguments both ways, which is what many of you are trying to do on so many occasions.
I am still waiting for the sexy Brazilian girls. Apart from that:
Tourists are strangers, I am sure many are nice and behave, but some not. People who live in a building constantly will more likely behave like not a lot of noise all night, no spilled beer in the lift, etc.
When I order some food I often wait in the lobby for a few minutes so that the food deliver guy does not have to wait. I don't like it when the lobby is full of sometimes loud strangers with lots of bags, etc.
Feeling home means knowing the people around you, at least to a certain extend. Many strangers in the building make it make feel less like home and more like a place with temporary occupants like a hotel.
Last but not least in many cities Airbnb ruins the prices for people who live there. And at the same time hotels are not occupied. That is bad for the locals living there and bad for local business. That does not make the place better for the locals and I think first the locals should be comfortable.
All in all sometimes a few behaving guests are no problem. The masses make it a problem.

What I did when I called 1111 and reported the vampires is that I made screen shots of the airbnb adverts for the rooms and forwarded them on, I would suggest to anyone else having a problem to do the same which will aid the authorities in pinpointing the problem owners..
It seems one problem is that the condominium (majority) owner has to be active to solve this problem.
In my building there are a few people who rent out their apartments regularly. A neighbor collected evidence but it seems he couldn't legally do anything because the majority owner of the condominium didn't care.
If you have information what to do to make sure the law is enforced please share your information.

Has anyone else noticed immigration might be easier by providing the minimal information needed?
Never give any official more documents than necessary.
Because more documents might confuse them.
You can obviously carry more documents with you. But take them only out if an official asks for them.
