  1. In the rai was telling me about a triviant night in a restaurant in Chiang Rai, can someone tell me where it is?, I just asked Henk from the Old Duch, cause i thought it was at his place but he didnt know.

I Am a Trivia Master and i love family games so i hope someone can tell me more about it. :o

  2. I didnt know you couldt write with a key board Cris, i gues your wife must help you more then you admit.

Everything okay in Chiang Sean? :o

Your posting might not be understood for the simple reason, that I deleted Chris' posting as it was completely off-topic and unpleasant ("you are all a bunch of loosers etc.").

It's a pity that his first posting in the Chiang Rai forum should be of this caliber.

I sent him a PM and asked him to share his Chiang Saen experiences with us.

    I hope he does.

  3. Not a clue, but a very good pic.

There is this strange "temple" or house i do not know what it is, opposite easy bar you can turn in to this small soi wich brings you to the street were Appy plaza is located, in the soi at your left hand side is some sort of house "temple"

    anybody knows what this is?

  4. The food was good, and the owner seemed like a fair enough fellow, but his missus there must have thought I didn't speak thai, and for the full hour i was there she was on and on with her girlfriend talking rubbish about every other girl in town, the girlfriends of other farangs, etc. A right gossip hag! It was like listening to a Thai soap opera, but bloody worse! And the whole time she was looking up and down MY missus thinking God knows what.

Last time I spend me pension there!

Dear Nigel, 'gossip' in Chiang Rai may well be worth a topic in this forum, but as soon as persons are mentioned or clear indications are given who is meant there is a risc that the discussion in itself comes close to gossip as well.

So is this is something to talk about, then in general terms please.

  6. Hi you boys and girls.

Thing are getting serious, so my friend and me are looking for a country to go for our Visas.

My friend needs a Non imm. B, i need a Non imm O. We think we both have the proper documents to succesfully apply.

But we are looking for other interesting places to go (in SE Asia) howeever, hearing both positive as negative stories about for example Cambodia, or Laos, refering to Visa aprovals.

As most people on this forum advise Malaysia (Penang or Kuala Lumpur) We like to know, are there other places to travel to were they probable grant us a visa?

    China? maybe

    Thanks guys :o

  7. Hi boys and girls.

I am40 years old, married to a Thai national who is pregnant with my baby.

I am from Holland, and live in Chiang Rai.

I am curently on a 30 day "visa"

I do not have 400K in a Thai bank, nor can i show money abroad.

If i travel to Penang with my marriage certificate, my wifes ID card, and a restaurant rental contract in my name.

Do they give me a Non O, multiple entry visa in Penang?

  8. Yes Mymechew and Johpa, good postings.

I think Jopha is wright, the vunarable will adapt first to any change.

But dont you guys think, that it is also a "problem" of modern times that young people do want to change to a money and nintendo culture, dont you think this is a worldwide change, were young people would like to live as the majority lives.

    Cinemas, cars and office jobs.

I think to keep any culture in modern life is difficult anyway, i think the Thai lose a lot of there culture also, as most of the cultures world wide.

Yes its a shame we are gonna lose those beautifull cultures, and i would say if we are gonna lose those cultures, then please dont let them live by any book, esspecialy not the bible, wich i personaly see as the biggest lie in the world ever.

Raising a child religious, who cant make an adult dissision him or her self, to me is childabuse.

I know this topic is not about riligion, so i should be carefull, but i think the missio's are so woven into hilltribe life that you cant leave it out in this disscusion.

Question: why do missio's allways try to "save" souls among the vunarable and uneducated????

  9. Nice topic :o

Yes the hilltribes need a topic here, and i agree with most posters.

    Gerry said:

The hill tribes people have to "fight for life" since the day there are born.

This does not make them more intelligent than anyone else, but it makes them quicker than the Thais to grab an opportunity whenever they can.

The fact that, in their life, they can rely only on themselves make them smart in finding solutions and quicker to react than, let's say the "middle class" young Thais.

I do agree on this, most of them are emotional stronger, a few years ago my Akha wife and me went to Big C, and i wanted to buy some coffee wich i couldnt find, i told my wife to ask those two boys who were obviously working there, but i saw she didnt want to ask, i told her to ask (as i didnt speak Thai then) when she asked, the boys looked at her, looked at me, and turned around and acted as if she was not there.

My wife walked away as if nothing happened, she told me later not all Thai like hilltribe, esspecially when they date a farang, for them, a hilltribe dating a farang is a h.....

I withnessed trhue the years loads of those discriminating things.

I guess every culture discriminates, so its nothing special, except personaly i never had to experience it back "home".

Ps reading this post back, it lookes as if i speak Thai now. :D

  10. unknown_user Posted Today, 2006-08-26 10:05:42

played tennis yesterday as the first day after a month..result was good enough... the important match tomorrow would be fun... hahahahaha...

I think i have to be honest here......i dont think it is honest unknown user.............i am a profesional tennisplayer, with a world ranking.

But it will be fun, sure. :o

  11. I think the whole thing is a big joke, personally i had a few experiences on the WWW the thing is that without sound and a face to look at, it is difficult to read what somebody really means.

Knowing Limbo personaly, i had a big laugh about his posting (also the removed sentence)

In holland we have a word for this (galgenhumor), i cant translate it to English, but i can only say, not a word Limbo said was meant serious, and defenitly not to hurt someones feelings.

I am happy to inform you that this afternoon Soap and I very peacefully enjoyed a non-alcoholic refreshment together (coffee actually). In Dutch we would say: Everything is 'cake and egg' again.

    Sorry for the consternation.

Just wandering............., how far can you drive for 40 satang, 300 meter?

I think joel is write, maybe the forem can come together and we all donate some, so joel can buy a stamp, so he can write a letter of complain.

Just a tip joel....if you stop your engine lets say 50 meters before the gasstation, then after six fill ups you break even, if you continue this theory, you actually MAKE money.

    Yours sincerely ..'. Consultency :o
