You sure about that...???????? 128,000 deaths...???????? 303? (https://g.co/kgs/R1X57y)

If Thailand wasn't for you that's fine...but don't say it has anything to do with Covid, which wasn't even a thing when you left. It has been objectively worse for people in the UK than Thailand.

And if the UK was such a great choice (assuming you have a very fulfilling life there), why do you still follow and post on a Thailand focused internet forum?

To laugh at all the <deleted> you put up with. i spent the last 10 years with my Wife in Thailand because we both preferred it to the Nursing homes in the USA. i bought a 3 bedroom Townhouse, had a maid and nurses aid worked 24/7. My wife got to see her family and eat all her favorite foods. It was a bitch for me with the visas cause i had to return each year for my Medical issues. she passed in 2019 and i returned in 2020 for my grand daughters 1st Birthday. i got stuck here till May 2020 but returned and got my Pfizer shots in February. Brought over my 2nd wife and she got her shots in March. yes i am Happy now and doubt i will return to all the <deleted> in Thailand. Happy in Florida !!! Even have air conditioning in all rooms so i din't sweat and <deleted>, lol !!!

And this is the problem.  Hospitals can only deal with COVID, nothing or little else.

Look at India - they have no oxygen.  Of course that's a significantly poor third world country with a notoriously poor standard of life, where the poor simply never go to a doctor in their lives.  Kids get sick?  Oh well, have more kids.  No doctor, no treatments.

So what ends up in a place like Thailand is surgeries get delayed, people suffer, and it ends up being a big big problem.  We are currently dealing with a huge backlog in surgeries with people genuinely suffering day after day here and it's really sad.

I do hope that they can fare well - they have great doctors in Thailand!

The have great Doctors in Thailand???  Went to Bangkok Hospital in Korat for a tear in my rotator cuff. Saw a specialst and

told him i needed a shot for my pain. he gave me Celebrex, 400mg. I gave him a copy of all my meds.  asked, any interaction. He said no. Went home and almost took the medication. pulled out my computer and checked, Web MD for Interactions. Had i taken the med would of had a stroke or heart attack. Called my Cardiologist in America. He said go back and ask the doctor if he knew how to check interactions. Next day went back and got a cortizone shot plus an Apology. It would have taken just 1 or 2 pills to kill me !!!  Great Doctors??? A Specialist too !!!

I've found from past experience that they tend to be more easy-going on packages sent during the holiday season. I would say in general, regardless of the season, I only am charged duty on about 10 to 20% of things I receive.

I guess, as with all things, some farang like to see sinister conspiracies at work emanating largely from their over-active imaginations. Some people become curmudgeonly during the Christmas season while others carry on year 'round.

Don't ever send any electronics over here !!!!   :shock1:

  5. First, it has been 30 years and Thailand has changed allot and not for the better!!! The place is full of drug addicts, scam artists

and you will find out that compared to 30 years ago, now you are a 3rd class citizen !!! Prices are a far cry higher than 30 years ago.

You will be surprised at all the Idiots driving on the streets here with and without licenses. Sure there are plenty of young things but

the Price has definitely gone up !!! There are allot of Dirtbag backpackers looking for free handouts and you might be just what they

need moneywise. also the open robberies and in home robberies has gone up. Every year Immigration is changing the rules so be prepared to start jumping thru the hoops !!! There are so many Muslims, Blacks and other types of people who would just as soon

kill you as look at you. Lots of new Condos, Townhouses, and Homes in general, but be warned the newer it is is not the better it is !!

Too many shortcuts and cost saving methods put money into the builders and sellers pocket, while you may have a Condo that has all scrapwood and left over pieces inside your walls. Your new Sweet thing might have her "boyfriends waiting for you at her home too !!

So your wife put on some weight and now after putting up with you for 30 years you are ready for a newer model??? I'm sure your wife knows the ins and outs of Divorce very well from living in America. She also has the advantage here in Thailand to wring you thru the dryer or worst yet have someone knock you off !! Best ides is visiting here and seeing what has become of the LAND OF SMILES !!!

You will definitely be in for a SHOCK !!! :shock1:

  6. All the shizer that you clever dicks rant on about are irrlelevent to the OP He is calling it as he sees it doesn't

matter if he is a victim or not

He is whinging and ranting cos the natives will not kow tow down to him thats all

Get used to it!!! An old man comes from america, europe etc. and marries or lives with a young thing. All she wants is to show how big a house she has a and the pick-up bought for her father.

You don't actually believe she loves you, do you??? She loves your wallet because it gives her status in whatever village or town she lives. Try picking a girl with an education and not a whore!!!!

I have been happily married to a Thai girl for 42 years. She did not come from a bar and as soon as we got to America she worked!! I was in the military and she worked more than me. when i retired

she kept on working till she developed Parkinsons at age 62. I have two sons who are Air Force Pilots. No matter where i was stationed she worked at least 5 days a week or sometimes 6 days. Now she is

sick and i will care for her forever. i will not drop her back off in Thailand and find a sweet young thing because now, the girls have no morals or ethics. also i still love my wife and will not forget all she has done for me!!!

i was lucky to find her!! GOOD LUCK NOW!!! wink.png

  7. What's the big deal about bringing your wife with you? Retirement Visa's are for 1 year so surely bringing your wife with you one time can't be such a hassle whistling.gif

For the past 5 years Korat immigration has requested new forms, paperwork , etc. just to extend my type o visa. Every year is something else!!!! Last year they said my "Original" thai marriage license was not enough and needed a bunch of printouts from both my wife and myselves stay in thailand. The license was from 1973!!!

Yes it is hard to to bring your wife of 42 years when she has Parkinsons, 2 strokes and is bed-ridden!!! Yes, i always have her doctors statement stating so everytime!!! bah.gif

  8. No work permit then you cannot work. As much asmany do.not agree. In this case however there are hundreds of thousands of Thais who speak chinese and could do this job and infact do. So no need for imported chinese photographers.

And what is the price that they charge compared to the other photographers??? 4 or 5 times more for the falang tourist!!! sad.png

  10. See the nation is really showing it's allegiance to the yellow dem junta coalition .

No need for attitude adjustment with them it's always been there and they just keep churning out bias articles which sends the yellow dems into a zombie like feeding frenzy.

Won't help at election time though!

    What Election???? LOL cheesy.gif

  11. I don't know how far / wide / fast local news travels, but on the basis of this website and the proportion of news items about Pattaya of a negative nature and with a negative impact on farang residents and visitors, I can't say I'm in a desperate rush to come for a visit.

I am ready to go back to the old USA!!! Five months and enough BS for this time. I visit my son and grandson every year. but the last 6 years has been getting worse with changes in immigration. Supposed searches? Been lucky, not yet. The way these idiots drive, if you can call it driving. Just an overall change in the Thai attitude, Years ago I wished about living here. Now, never happen!!! Thailand is not making any good points to the "Civilized World" bah.gif

What specific changes in immigration are you referring to? If anything, they have gotten easier, especially for developed country tourists like Americans. I don't recall any immigration changes over the past 6 years that would make it more difficult for an American visiting Thailand as a tourist. Again, what searches do you refer? I've lived in Bangkok and Pattaya for 15 years and never been stopped, let alone searched, by the police. As to driving, I've been slightly rear-ended once in over 10 years of driving in Thailand, while in America, I was rear-ended (not from a ladyboy) but by mmaniacaldrivers, the last one who totaled my vehicle and took off without stopping, leaving me for dead for all he/she knew. No, I think I prefer driving in Thailand thank you.

So do you have any facts or specific examples to support your opinions or are you just a Debby Downer on Pattaya and party of the down on Pattaya brigade.

I'm curious...what visa extension do you stay on?

I come over on a type 0 non immigrant visa for 3 months. at first I was able to extend 90 days no problem. then the next year only 60 days and finally this year I had to leave the country and come back on a tourist visa and I got a 30 day extension for the holidays. korat immigration was ridiculous with so many people and only 15 ques in the am and pm

  12. Vietnam war.

Wrong! Both Thailand and the PI were close allies and the recipients of massive amounts of development aid, grants and millions of dollars of tea money during and after the Vietnam War. Thailand has prospered tremendously the PI has not. Closing down Clark AFB was a disaster for the PI. Let's face it. Thai's are much more sophisticated and intelligent that Filipinos . Flips are more greedy, less trusting and consequently less able to negotiate with Western powers. Thailand on the other hand was able to establish and set up "gentleman's agreements" with the USA during the Vietnam war based on mutual trust and understanding that continue to this day. Thailand was and is more democratic that the PI. The US had to deal with the Marcos regime which during and after the war sucked the country dry. I could go on but I'm sure there are others that can add more.

The only reason Thailand is ahead of the Phillippines now is because of the volcano, Mt.Pinatubo. I spent 3 years in Thailand and 9 years in the P.I. Thailand was a forth world country compared to the Phillippines. They had Malls and Industry while Thailand had water buffalos. Clark AFB.was the largest military base in the world. The craftsman of the P.I. would put the Thais to shame and do the same job in half the time. I had a 67 Camaro fully restored in the P.I. and had many American mechanics just marvel at the workmanship. I paid a total of $3000 for the car and a complete rebuild to include body off the frame. They even had replacement parts in stock. No Thai jerry rigging either. I sold it for $35000 and after the sale people offered the new owner even more. Wait and see what happens to Thailand when the American and Japanese companies pull out. also would hate to see what would happen to Thailand if Bangkok got hit with a Super Typhoon. End of game for Thailand!w00t.gif

  13. Just a 30 day extension.

As I had paid the fine, I (wrongly ?) assumed that my 'crime' had been paid for.

In the past, the airport immigration happily accepted my overstay payment with no mentions of this being a 'crime'. Either things have changed or I got the wrong immigration person on arrival.

Sorry, no more playing games with overstays!!! Keep it up and you will be blacklisted and not allowed to enter Thailand again!!! bah.gif

  14. I wouldn't eat them......unless the it is really very bad.

Take the valium, it will relax your muscles and help your breathing. The 5 MG is not a large dose. I have been taking 5MG 3x a day for the past 12 years. no problems for me and I am 64. I am surprised that they did not give you Ambien for your sleep problems or even Xanax to help you sleep better. I take meds for high blood pressure, hypothyroid, type 2 diabetes and acid reflux with no problems between the meds. Just can't drink allot, lol. I forgot the PTSD, that is why I have the valium, Xanax, and ambien. Still kicking and no problems so far after 12 plus years.

  15. Why does Thailand open its doors to these types of people?

I'm sure with his attitude and mouth, he will get noticed very soon in BKK and someone will rat him in.

    It's a pretty simple explanation.

Unless there is something logged on his Passport records to show he is a wanted man which would be flagged up at Immigration he would gain entry to Thailand just like everyone else,

In fact he would gain entry to nearly every country on the planet

So to summarize what is your point about somehow blaming Thailand for something that is the British Authorities fault for not confiscating or flagging his passport?

You have to consider the Brits are as smart as the Thais, after all they accepted the B.S. from Thailand on the deaths of 2 of their residents wink.png
