As an old EMT, I would like to point out to some of the responders here, you are jerks
Ambulance should ALWAYS have right of way, in fact you should pull over even if it is coming from the opposite direction....
Remember, likely one day it Will be your sorry patute on the gurney....
Anyone who obstructs an ambulance should be jailed and car impounded for a good long stretch
Try that in America and you will go to jail, lose your license, pay a large fine and be charged up to manslaughter !!!!
Piss on the censors here but that is why i hate Thailand so much !!!!!!!!!!!

For sure two things. One he blacked out because his roll out was not smooth and two appeared to be too close to the ground to complete the manuver !!!
If this was a Demo Team like we have in America for the new jets, might need more attention to the "G" Factor !!!
RIP sorry for the family and the kids who witnessed it !!!

Its not just Phuket, the whole of Thailand is the same...
I reckon less than half the accidents make any form of news story, so the true carnage is much greater than we ever see in the media (Thai or English)Just wait till NEW YEAR !!!!!

I've found from past experience that they tend to be more easy-going on packages sent during the holiday season. I would say in general, regardless of the season, I only am charged duty on about 10 to 20% of things I receive.
I guess, as with all things, some farang like to see sinister conspiracies at work emanating largely from their over-active imaginations. Some people become curmudgeonly during the Christmas season while others carry on year 'round.
Don't ever send any electronics over here !!!!

I'm split on this topic. A part of me wants to see this guy get his day in court to either prove his innocence or the government prove his guilt while a part of me thinks, why is the government involved in policing religion in the first place?! Fools in my home country give their heard earned money to all kinds of religious institutions and religious leaders and it is perfectly legal as long as the correct tax documents have been filed.....
But your Priest does not have his Mercedes, BMW, Jet Plane, Helicopter and a Million Dollars does he?????

Dear Kozmo, you are dangerously mistaken.
Standard Thai electricity supply is 230 VAC and the two wires (Line and Neutral) both carry the same 230 Volts. Either will kill you with ease if you touch one and are earthed.
In fact very often the Line and Neutral wires are interchanged so the MCB's that are the normal method of fusing here take a little longer to trip.
Many older places do not have an earth, but this is rapidly changing.
Impossible !!!! If you had 2 wires, each carrying 220v the end result at the plug would be 440v Also have gone thru new constuction
in the Korat area and they only use 2 wires to pocket the cost for a grounded system. When you build 100 homes in a subdivision that one extra wire makes you allot of money for not using it !!!
-
First, it has been 30 years and Thailand has changed allot and not for the better!!! The place is full of drug addicts, scam artists
and you will find out that compared to 30 years ago, now you are a 3rd class citizen !!! Prices are a far cry higher than 30 years ago.
You will be surprised at all the Idiots driving on the streets here with and without licenses. Sure there are plenty of young things but
the Price has definitely gone up !!! There are allot of Dirtbag backpackers looking for free handouts and you might be just what they
need moneywise. also the open robberies and in home robberies has gone up. Every year Immigration is changing the rules so be prepared to start jumping thru the hoops !!! There are so many Muslims, Blacks and other types of people who would just as soon
kill you as look at you. Lots of new Condos, Townhouses, and Homes in general, but be warned the newer it is is not the better it is !!
Too many shortcuts and cost saving methods put money into the builders and sellers pocket, while you may have a Condo that has all scrapwood and left over pieces inside your walls. Your new Sweet thing might have her "boyfriends waiting for you at her home too !!
So your wife put on some weight and now after putting up with you for 30 years you are ready for a newer model??? I'm sure your wife knows the ins and outs of Divorce very well from living in America. She also has the advantage here in Thailand to wring you thru the dryer or worst yet have someone knock you off !! Best ides is visiting here and seeing what has become of the LAND OF SMILES !!!
You will definitely be in for a SHOCK !!!
-
Thai standard wiring is just two kot wires each carrying 110 volts. total gives you the 220V
very few houses or condos use the grounded 3 wire system. the outlet may have three holes
but the ground usually does not have anything connected to it. No neutral wires here !!!

Yaris best Bang for your dollar !!
I had the misery of driving a Yaris for a week. it was a new rental with only 1500 miles on it. my Sentra was not returned and i wasn't going to wait 3 hrs at the airport on a holiday weekend. give me what you got, bad mistake. it shaked and rsttled on smooth roads, can't imagine what it would do hear in Thailand. the engine was noisy and had the power of a sick grass cutter. it might work here with no speeding cause it was always the last off the light in new york. i drove it to niagara falls from buffalo and it would change lanes by itself no matter what size car or truck passed it. poor acceleration, cheap interior, get a mitsi or mazda 2. shake rattle and roll !!!!

Need to teach these Ignorant Thais how to Drive !!!! They will take it out on you if you let them. had a bunch of Thais tried to play games with me in the 70's at Ubon. after i cracked a cinder block wall they all ran. Took Tai Kwon Do from a Korean on base. Did not touch anyone, but the wall was enough for them to flee !!! Never used it in a fight !!!!

I've been here going on 9 years now, and my "happiness level" is about the same as it was in the beginning. First, I had no illusions about Thailand being "paradise", or the perfect place for me to live. I accepted it as a new, different country, with it's up's & down's, it's good & bad, like any place else, including the U.S., where I came from. I didn't come to Thailand for Thailand. I came to Thailand to get away from the U.S., which was becoming much too expensive for me to live on my VA Disability pension.
I've been married to the same woman, who is only 10 years younger than I am, for most of those 9 years, and have a wonderful, loving adopted son, who is working on his Master's in Thai Education, and a niece studying for her law degree, who calls me her dad as well. Life is good. Perfect? Not by a long shot, but 10 times, or more, better than it would be back in the States living alone in an apartment. I speak enough Thai so that when I take a 2-4 day road trip on my bike, I have no problems getting by.
Life ain't "great", but it's damn good for me, and that's just fine.
Sorry you had an apartment and no one to share it with. Thailand was great in the 70's and 80's but after that each year it ha been going down. Too much restrictions and hoop jumping just because i'm not Thai. My house 2 cars and motorcycle in Florida are all paid for. I have relatives here that i come to visit but it gets so boring after awhile. i'm not a whore monger or gutter drunk so that aspect has no appeal to me. I also have my VA pension and it works fine for me in Florida !!! iI once tried a retirement visa and i was climbing the walls to get back to America. after 8 months. My wife is Thai and she would rather stay in America too!!! Been married 43 years and am still happy with a wife who worked herself up to be a General Manager of a Fast Food company. I have a house in Korat, city limits that i stay in when i visit. The medical care here is not the greatest in the world and always check any meds given out bu Bangkok and St. Mary's hospitals because they do not care about your own medications and interactions. Twice had i not looked up the medications for interactions i probably would have died!!! This is after i gave the doctors a copy of my current medications. The streets here have not changed from the 70's. Now with all the Idiots on the road i have someone drive me, not to mention the terrible traffic problems too. Thai people themselves have changed allot. i remember before when your Thai friends would pay for you and or share an expense. Now everyone wants your money and most attractions cost you more because your not Thai. Basically a nice place to visit but i would never, ever stay here Permanently!!!!!

Phakhin said that he had argued with his boyfriend before he left on the trip. Security had often been called in the past with noise coming from the apartment.
Wouldn't that be enough to see his boyfriend as the possible cause of death? RIP, you went way too early.
My condolences to his family and friends.

Cynicism aside, but if they'd have researched it properly, they'd see that it's a popular backpacker place and was 'turned' a long time ago. 'Idyllic' in Thailand nowadays really requires a boat ride to a secluded island/beach.
Need to get rid of these trashy backpackers !!!! back in the early 70's Immigration would not give you a tourist visa without proof
of money and they could turn you down just by the way you looked , I.E. Hippie Types, greaseball hair and unkemp appearance.
Need to start doing it again !!!!! The good old days !!!!

I grew up in Buffalo, New York so i would visit the falls at least 3-4 times a month. First it was just the rich Japanese going to the falls, cutting in line
going over the fences and markers to take closer pictures. Had a few slide down the grass above the Horseshoe Falls and they were gone. August on 2016
went to visit my 91 year old mom and had not seen the falls in many years. Now we had Philippinos, Thais, Chinese, Koreans and Japanese all jumping into the flowers and crawling under the fences to get the Cellphies . Must be an Asian thing !!!
