  1. Well written op. Thailand is a racist and xenophobic culture, there is no getting around it. You mentioned the pecking order in Thailand and unfortunately for you, Indian tourists tend to be placed at the bottom of this order.

I'll echo what others have said above and give you credit for keeping a cool head.

First this is not Canada, it is Thailand and they make there own rules. I am white American and have had Thais pick me for seating for a movie or dinner

in front of some Blacks that made a big deal, but the Thais ignored them. Also was picked ahead of some drunk British guys who did not care at all.

They could have put allot more adjectives to khon khaek so I would not be so upset. I was stationed at Ubon R.T.A.F.B. back in 70-72 and heard the

words khon khaek in reference to the tailors on the base and they did not get upset at all. wink.png

  2. Yes this murderer's story is as believable as the easter bunny. Hope they get the death penalty.

Yes, especially the part about him fainting, notice a hammer was nearby. there was no comment about this being the second Japanese husband to die while married to her. she got 6 million baht insurance because the old Japanese man fell down the stairs???? so much for the BIB in the first investigation.

Surprised they did not call the first death a suicide. facepalm.gif

  3. Finally I learned where they breed lonely old men turning into customers:

most foreign men marrying women from north east Thailand came from the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland.

Americans know better!! No new house for the G/F, no new "Family" Store, and last but not least, no new Pickup for daddy.thumbsup.gif

Ok to have some fun, but don't be a fool as seen here many times on TV.clap2.gif

  4. Why do you claim Thailand has more to attrack professional expats than H.K.? Would think the reverse is more accurate

A lot of HK expats envy Thailand's (perceived) better quality of life.

On the other hand, at a professional level, Thailand is seen by many as a dumping ground for washed-up expats and those who couldn't make it in more competitive places like Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul or Singapore.

Actually it's probably a chicken/egg problem. There is not world class expat because there is no world class employers who are not here because they can't find world class expats who are not here because there is no world class employers who are not here ....

And maybe - just maybe - Thailand (and other places) offer lifestyle options that a great many people much prefer over what is offered by HK.......

You mean like letting a 70 year old buy a 15 year old in Thailand???? w00t.gif

  5. One dirty, rich family protecting it's son's murderous acts & in effect teaching their son that murder is ok is destroying a perfectly good & morally intact family.

It was so fast that the RTP dropped all comment and accusations which included the rich kids son wearing the shorts of the young brit on cctv as soon as

1 million BAHT showed up!!!!!! w00t.gif

  6. The pic of the Ambassador of a democratic sovereign state and representative of the Queen of England & duly accredited to the Kingdom of Thailand, 'wai-ing' lower than a regular civil servant, pains me!!!! Why has he got no self-respect and demeans the whole UK, whom he represents!!

Same as Obama bowing to the King of Saudi!!! No US president has ever done such a thing. Disgusting! bah.gif

  7. Has anyone seen any suggestion anywhere that either of the two accused is some kind of martial arts expert capable (as the RTP claims) of single handedly killing a much bigger and stronger opponent without suffering any injury himself?

What have you been smoking???? Must be an "ENTER THR DRAGON FAN" Sorry these two are not descendents og Bruce Lee cheesy.gif

  8. Are they allowed? Yes, discussed several times already.

They look for derelecks and other low class people!! if you hadn't slept and not shaved or showered and had long hair then you deserved to be searched.

try looking civilized and maybe you won't have a problem. I have never been stopped by the police since 1970, when I first set foot in Thailand.

Thailand had a problem of hippies and low class people coming to Thailand with 1 way tickets before and maybe $50 to there name. Immigration got

smart and would not give you a visa if you looked like a hippie. Keep the low lifes out of Thailand!!!! They have enough of there own beggars!!! thumbsup.gif

  9. Thailand taking a hammering again, look around the world and everything that happens in Thailand is happening else where, far worse in some cases!

Let me tell you one of the main reasons for a drop in tourism, the greedy taxes on airfares,it will cost me over 2 k to just fly me and my family there,(2 adults 2 children 2&6 yrs) and then travel and hotels on top, over 650 to fly to Samui because of the monopoly on flights there.

I love Thailand and been backpacking round for the last 15 + years! But it's getting harder to do because of Greed.

And cheap backpackers like you!!! cheesy.gif

  10. What time period was there between when the suspects were DNA tested and access to D+H's body was still possible? Does anybody think that they somehow managed to plant any kind of DNA on the victims from the result of the 1st round of DNA tests? Even the wound patterns don't line up with what the Thai's officially claimed was the weapon so the Thais will look pretty culpable of a cover up.

Basically Thailand has to decide if it's worth protecting the special interests if it means the UK going hostile.

Funny how fast the 2 sons of the headsman/mafia of the island were let off as soon as 1 million baht showed up????? w00t.gif

  11. I guess I was lucky. My G/F went to a small agency and did it all by herself without any links to me. I had written up a two page letter stating I would support her and why she was going etc. All she needed was to show 6 months income in the bank, last 6 months and the fact she had a job in Thailand. The agency did all the paperwork including setting up her interview at the embassy. She passed no problem and I guess it depends on who interviews her and her age. She was 43 then. She now has a 10 year B2 visa good for 6 months at a time. Sometimes you get lucky, but the agency did give her an interview similar as what she will get in the embassy. This was 3 years ago.

  12. Words fail me. You would struggle to find a greater injustice anywhere in the world.

So glad that after 28 years here I am leaving to live in a civilized society.

    RIP Hannah and David.

I only come here to visit my son, his wife and my grandchild. After 2-3 months all this s--t gets old. I will spend most of my year in sunny Florida,

close to Eglin Air Force Base. Hard to believe that I wished I could live here back in the 70's while stationed at Ubon RTAFB.

Back then no aids, BS. If a thai did anything to an American military person, his azz was grass!!!!! No getting away thanks to our Military Agreements!!!

Yes, the good old days, progress has done allot for Thailand??? cheesy.gif
