  1. Would be interested in everbody's experiences in ordering from Amazon and receiving the goods in Thailand. Was tempted to start a new thread with the above sentence as the header, but since 3 posters here have already mentioned Amazon, will try to include Amazon comments/info in this thread.
  2. I would love to order everything from Amazon, and not have to deal with all the potential Lazada/Shopee/Ali hassles I read about. In addition: 1) Amazon cs is excellent; 2) Minimally I can get 5% off but usually or often more than that; 3) Unlike all the phony 3rd party vendors I read about on Lazada et al, the Amazon 3rd parties will try to do anything to please the customer (and hence not get a bad review); 4) Lots of user reviews of the items for sale. However: a) Many things I want can't be shipped to Thailand (or possibly in some cases the 3rd party sellers don't want to), e.g. Vitamins., Soap. But I will try using iHerb for Vitamins which (almost?) everyone seems to be happy with; b) Shipping fees: They do have a flat rate $9.95 USD to Thailand, and currently about 4 mostly very small lightweight items which I want to order can all be combined under that single $9.95 charge for all. I don't know at what point they cut off a combination of items under that single charge. But for the items which they do allow to be shipped to Thailand, many of them are shipped from the 3rd party sellers, so do not come under the flat rate $9.95, and the shipping fees can double or more the price of items.
  3. You get no extra charges? Meaning Thai Customs does not charge you duty and Amazon refunds their estimated duty charge which was included in their bill?
  4. Amazon adds their estimated duty into the bill as a separate item. They state they will refund any of that which Thailand does not charge. Have you ever had hassles getting the uncharged part of their estimate refunded to you? How accurate is their estimate? Have you noticed if Thailand has not charged duty if the total bill has been under 1500 THB?
  5. "...went triumphant via the green corridor." What is "the green corridor"?
  6. I've seen this referred to several times. Is this an official Thai directive, or general observation/estimate/(selective memory perhaps)? Urban legend? If it is an official figure, if they look at a receipt inside the package, that could include tax and shipping, perhaps service/handling charge. Is the 1500 THB figure supposed to be the total for the item alone?
  7. Hopefully with a good collection of choices. Thank you.
  8. I can't stand later Julia Roberts.
  9. Do you have a great Eye Surgeon in BKK that you traveled to? Recommend? Or having it done in CM and I misunderstood?
  10. "...and also suggested paying 3 baht per month to keep my number active without having to top-up." Did True cs activate the ability to pay 3 THB/month to keep your # activated? Also - Did you have a topup balance, and they just pull 3 THB/month from it?

  12. Seems to be what I'm looking for! Will try to get to a Boots tomorrow.
  13. Yes, all 3 endorsement pages are included in the 6. I never noticed/read the writing on the side of those pages before. What sort of endorsements is it referring to? If this means no stamps can go on those 3 pages, then I guess it's definitely time for a new one...?
  14. Plus 1 page is 2/3 empty. Of the 6 clear pages, two have 1 staple in them and one has 2 staples. If I remove the staples and stapled papers, will Immigration (anywhere but mainly Thailand) be OK with using those pages or do they avoid them due to the small staple holes? Basically, is it that time to deal with getting a new Passport?
  15. Do you have a current location/phone # for him?
  16. Does anyone else have a teacher to recommend?
  17. Anyone else have a Coffeeshop to suggest?
  18. Any other suggestions?
  19. Rimping Market (at least at Maya Mall) has organic produce. Tops at Central Festival also, but did not notice it at Tops KSK (now closed) nor at Tops Chotana.
  20. Anyone else recommend one (or more)?
  21. I had the extraction performed by: Dr. Krisada Sangsiraprapra Dental Studio. 82 9 Sridonchai Rd, Tambon Chang Khlan, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai 50100 086 428 0342. He had all the traits and skills I mentioned in the Op. Very satisfied, and recommend.
  22. I wear soft contact lenses and have problems sometimes in SEA with irritation. Opthamologist in Vietnam thought I needed to stop wearing contacts, but I didn't want to stop so she prescribed VISMED eye drops and I've been using them ever since. Sold in Thailand as VISLUBE. Not cheap. Dara sells them about 10 - 20% cheaper than my local pharmacy, but their price is about 20% more than they sell for in Vietnam. Worth it to me - solves the problem, and still wearing contacts.
  23. OP - I recently had an appointment at Ram with a young thin male Dermatologist - Siriwit Wongsakul. I asked him a question and he grabbed a thick softcover medical book that was on his desk, turned to an illustration, and I i.mmediately thought of your OP. Could this be the person you mention?
  24. "You can simplify matters by registering that information with your Embassy if possible." Wasn't aware this can be done. Will USA Embassy let one register such? How does one register such info w/the (USA) Embassy? What department, etc.?
