If, and when it get to Chiang Mai, and the price is OK and it is like they make in the states, I will be a regular customer
-
I was told the price is 169.000 Bt in Thailand

Guess I know where you had dinner last night

Sorry, I don't understand why one would hire a songtaew for the day, sit in the back of a hot truck sucking in diesel fumes when you could have a nice new car with Airconditioning and a Engilsh speaking driver for equal cost or less. But to each their own . . . .

All the major rental shops in CM have the CBR500's now

At the Big C near the airport is a print shop . Down stairs next to Black Canyon on the way out. They did a good job for me. 150 Bt for about 100 6cm x 6 cm stickers

Looks like a good plan to keep you busy for a few days

Several Condos for under 2 m baht as well as many new housing developments. Yes you could spend way more, but why? There are dozens of options in your price range

Well, this is something that I've been thinking about , who the hell cares if the number of people on retirement visas increases or decreases, or if the most of the applicants r britishers or russians, they, they are not the real problem, the elephant in the room is the huge number of foreigners( of all nationalities and colors) that hav thai families( married to thais, or that have thai husdband/wife) and don't even have the right to earn a living in this country unless you hav a bachellor degree, or lots of money in the bank. we r thousand of people in this situtatuion, and it seems that no one in teh goverment care about us or about the well-being of our thai relative who in most of cases depends on us, at least give us the chance of work freely, eliminate the income requirements to our visa or make it equal to the normal income of a thai 15000 bath/ month ( 400,000 yearly = 33,333/month), and pleace lower the income requirements for pr and citizenship as well, we r human beings and our thai families too.
Sorry, not sure what your saying here ?
On a married visa you can work, and Extension of stay based on marriage is 400,000 or 40,000Bt but the marriage visa is just 1/4 that. legally married to a Thai and working and here just fine

Buying you need proof, be it house book, ID Card, Work permit, or Imm letter
TO sell just need to sign the paper, and maybe a signed copy of passport or ID card

It pasted the 2 hour monsoonal rains and foot deep water test today !

Not sure about the super high speed. They all make claims but not sure of the true speed. I have cable internet by true and very happy with it but for what I do
$500, 15000 Bt is doable, if you don't smoke, drink, or chase ladies.
Fly in either. If BKK catch a flight up.
Just get monitors here, Cheep easy

Walk . . .

I liked the Ducati Girls from last year all Black Leather, very sexy
Noted Chiang Mai now has a new Ducati shop and also a KTM shop !

The problem I found was the owner manual says one thing, web site another, and the brochure even still another thing so which to trust ? I have had to check things out myself
-
Or depending on where you are in Thailand, you can just step across the boarder and step back, Some areas this is more easy to do and much less costly than air tickets

1111 km report
If I were to sum things up in a few words, it would be that it has far exceeded my expectations
With 1111 km now showing, and first oil change being done, I can safely make a few statements. At this point it seems like a wonderful choice and bike for the money. And It has proven just about what everyone said was wrong. Time will now be the real test
My simple expectations were, It could do 100 kph, get better than 50 kpl, and have decent dependability. It has done all that and more.
I have driven it to 115 kph, though not with a GPS yet, it does move when needed and is very stable stock when it does. It will happily travel 100 kph, hour after hour.
Honda rates the Wave110i at 57 kpl I have gotten slightly better and slightly worse with an average just under that. On the Ares, rated at 58, I did start a few tanks under that, but have done better and now average 56kpl with mixed driving city and faster stretches here and there.
The bike starts easy with no choke first and every time, warm or not sitting or not. Really I was expecting more like the "TIger" Thai brand relyability, with a bolt or nut falling of here or there or some failure. Even my Wave had several trips to the shop for light bulbs, loose this or that etc. The Ares so far has not had any problem.
Good and the bad, but nothing ugly here . . .
Not sure yet about the front basket. It is good with papers and small things. If you forget to close the clasp, it will fly open when you drive. I have learned to latch it while on the move. I have carried a watermelon in it just fine, but can not a helmet. But it has a second rack in the middle that works for that. That being said, it is missing a helmet hook to lock your helmet. Something that really would not cost anything to add on the bike. I also added a hook, but even the Honda does not come with that.
On my Wave, The stock tires were very small and very unstable, The first week I up graded them, the rims, and the shocks to make the bike handle better. The Ares is wonderful from the start. The Duro tires hold wonderful to the very limits and I am sure I push them more than 99.999% of the people would. My wave shocks were pogo sticks and bottomed out all the time. The Ares are firm and never have bottomed out. That said, my wife said she liked the Wave more soft better. But she is only 50 kg to my 100 kg and is an easy rider, were I am more demanding on a bike to preform. The Ares also comes with nice Alloy rims. A nice extra touch.
The center stand seems slightly high and harder to use then the Wave was. Kick stand is better on the Ares but lacks the kill motor switch when it is down. The Ares you can also start in any gear. Maybe a safety issue for some. The Wave was Nuterual start only, which was a pain because I frequently killed it taking off from a stop light. The Ares has never died on me.
At first I thought the wave engine was smoother. Now broken in, I feel the Ares is smoother, has more torque, but less upper end horsepower
So far so good !

Sounds by your driving you really don't need anything much more than good quality.
On my Wave I did up size to Dunlop T900 80/80 -17 front and 90/80 - 17 rear. But I also up graded the rims and drove it all over Thailand mostly above 100 kph
That said, the stock Duro DM1089 70/90 front and 80/90 back that came on my Lifan Ares have been outstanding as a standard tire

Was it just a day or two ago in the largest major English paper they were saying it would be a banner year and Thailand would regain their title as largest exporter of rice ?

With what they charge for the bus service you think they could afford a little maintenance on the bus, or does the Bus repair mafia charge 10 times to much for bus repairs in Phuket ?

Rain
in Chiang Mai
So happy for the rain it has cleared the haze. So now it can start building up again but not as bad as before.

Had several friends travel from PI to Thailand to visit. However, the smartest thing to do would have been go there first to see how they get along. If all went well, then invite her here to see how things go here.
But there are those who marry bar girls after 1 night and farang who buy homes for their new girlfriends after just days or weeks and I wouldn't do that either
-
200 km a day traveling at a very slow pace of 70 - 80 kph ? So your only driving for 2.5 hours a day. Any little scooter can do this with ease.
I am 100 kilos + my wife at 50 kilos + gear for a week on a wave. That is 160 - 170 kilos and the Wave did 70 - 80 even on the biggest hills in Thailand.
So about any bike will do you that is made and sold here. Now Honda has the biggest dealer network if you need repairs, but the larger bikes if they brake down means fewer shops to fix and days if not weeks waiting for parts.
I have been all over Thailand on Waves, CBR150's, PCX125, and more.
The questions you should be asking is how much experiences do you have riding a motorcycle ? Sound limited. How much do you want to spend on a bike ? And really where are you going to use it ?

And what is new about that. From the states with all there hidden and mystery fees they always ended up being almost twice as much
a few weeks back needing to go to Kuala Lumpur I got a round trip ticket for 7000 Bt. they were 30,000bt for coach fair and Malaysia air was 15,000 for first class
How they keep on flying beats me ?
