  1. I didn't know that, if that's the case then good luck for him

Don't worry, he'll probably open a new place, close by, a few months later.
    Just like the last time.

Great idea though, why sell food, when you can make more selling restaurants.

Good God! 5M key money, that can't be right!

  2. I think it's your wifi manager (any ISP that block torrent download won't get many customer!)

    what is 'tor' rent?

Put tor and rent together as one word. It seems my ISP (maybe 3BB or Seedspot the wi-fi managers) is blocking my posting it in all ways. I couldn't even quote ARISTIDE and post because that word was in that post, grrrrrrrr. I hate these guys. (ISP I mean) I've never come across anything like this before.

  3. So I suppose you haven't been to Pa Paad's place. Although 700 km from the sea, telling her seafood not fresh is an absolute suicide.

Scientific studies are for idiots looking to prove their way of thinking. With the advent of the internet you can prove with a scientific study any thing you want to prove.

Look at the facts we have people here eating all the wrong foods the ones that kill them living into their 70s 80s and even in their 90s 100 years ago they would not live that long. In my life time I have seen the average life expectancy rise by 10 years. The only thing I pay attention to is the stated on the packaging amount of sugar.

Thai Visa is a wonderful source of information. I see one poster claiming you can get fresh sea food from with in 10 kilometers of Chiang Mai.

  4. Use around 11g or 1 heap table spoon of tea per 1 pot of tea. Leave it in hot water no more than 50 seconds. Never leave tea more than 1 minutes. I drink 1-3 pot of tea every night no problem

Has anyone here walked through CM's largest central main market?

If so, have they seen any decent tea there?

Any vendors have stalls with good tea for sale?

I have heard they have Chinese tea for sale,

But I do not know anything about quality and variety.

    Pls advise if you do.

    Tks.

may i know where is the central main market?

i tried thai green tea yesterday night and i end up couldn't sleep for the entire night.....

    555+

Yes you may ----- The central main market I was referring to is this:

    Gad Luong Market (sp)

I write the Thai name like this: ****Thai language removed****

But I could not tell you how to get there, I have been spending too much time trying to learn Thai to actually go anywhere in Chiang Mai yet.

Now though, I have run out of wulong or qingcha, and so must venture out into the streets of Chiang Mai to locate some good tea to replenish my stash.

I am not that picky, so any good green tea will do.

And I am very interested to hear your comment about not being able to sleep after the green tea. I think it really does pack a punch with the caffeine. I love it because it keeps my nose to the Thai language grindstone, where it should be. This is why I drink so much tea in the first place. +5555 to your +555

Edit: (sorry, I guess the Thai place names in Thai are not allowed on this thread.)

maybe i add too much of the tea leaves .. (i was just trying for the first time)

i have pm you the picture of the tea bag.. smile.png

  5. For about 60 bath for each bamboo container dim sum (as I remember) at a 5 star hotel I think the price ain't too bad at all. (Check out the pretty toilet too!)

I think the poster mean the "Fujian Restaurant" in the Mandarin Dara Devi Hotel? The chef is from Hong Kong, I eat there often and I think they don't lie to me.

The menu looks superb! Thanks for the recommendation. Will have to save up for a meal there though.whistling.gif

  6. I think the poster mean the "Fujian Restaurant" in the Mandarin Dara Devi Hotel? The chef is from Hong Kong, I eat there often and I think they don't lie to me.

I've never found a Chinese restaurant here that I thought was any good.

    Fujian?

Don't know it. Where is it? Sounds Japanese? But I'll try it.

    Fujian is a province.

Also a type of Chinese cuisine.

Most of what people like to eat in Taiwan is FujianCai

But I do not like it, if not more spicy. I do not like soup dishes, or more bland flavoring to the food.

Gimme some Hunan/Sichuan or Beijing, any old day.

  7. When a Thai person say there is a good quality tea here or there, chances are it's not. What you get mostly in Thailand is almost always some Oolong from Chiang Rai province. A good place to buy tea is never the local market. I found best place to buy tea is Jia Thong Heng main branch (near Chedi Hotel) and Monsoon at JJ market and they are not even good! I only truly enjoy Long Ching and Pin Luo Chun from China. Or some good green tea from Japan. But I can drink Oolong from Chiang Rai just to get by. Most Thai when you ask for tea they think Lipton or Delma, when you ask for green tea they think Oishi green tea drink in a bottle.

  8. There's a Taiwanese restaurant(next to the Taiwanese fruit shop) in Moo baan Chiang Mai land that have imported Taiwanese Oolong tea. I think I know most of the Chinese and Japanese tea places in CM and BKK I can assure you that there aren't many and your best bet is to buy online.

I went to Monsoon today. It's right next to the new mini Rimping, across the street from the old JJ area. But it was closed with no sign of business hours. They carry some nice looking ceramic tea sets but not gong <deleted> style. They do have a nice tea maker by Sama Doyo, this one: http://yunnansourcing.com/en/samadoyo-easy-teapots-and-cups/2318-sama-easy-tea-cup-for-gong-<deleted>-tea-brewing-s-011b-360ml.html but they want 685 baht for it.

Then I went to Jia Tong Heng's tea shop. They have one brick of Pu'erh. I didn't recognize the brand. If I ever am truly desperate for a brick I'll consider it, but my conclusion is that online is the way to go for serious tea lovers.

So please, do you have the phone number for JiaTong Heng Tea Shop which sells tea?

I have not found any decent tea, qingcha or wulong, since I left Taiwan.

If I had known finding tea would be this difficult in Chiang Mai,

    I still would have come,

But I would have brought the tea plants with me.

Now, please, where do I get some good wulong and most importantly just qingcha?

The other you mention here, that sounds like the rainy season, is overpriced for what you get.

    Thank you.

I do not think Alibaba will help in this matter.

  9. Approximately 60000 bath each, for including other needed procedure that come with the implant e.g. bone regeneration and etc.. But teeth from Korean can be cheaper. This is the standard price worldwide. The doctor is very serious about what he is doing and I received high standard practice.

  10. online is the way to go for serious tea lovers.

Near the Three King monument there's a small tea stall in front of the shop houses near the famous Hunan chicken rice I don't know if they still have it but I saw some tea set there.

You're right there, I purchased some Chinese green tea from teaspring once and they are of good quality!

I also purchased a bit over thousand bath for my cast iron tea pot at Rimping long time ago and it is really good.

  11. In China, pu'erh tea used to be popular among older people but now the younger generation are enjoying it too. In Thailand not many people know how to drink Chinese tea.

I just got back from China and they have some amazing Pu'er. To me the 12 years, and the 4 years Pu'er taste almost the same. I prefer the cheaper one as they are not as strongly fermented. I had eventually had to gave away the expensive Pu'er from China to an old lady. I personally only drink green tea or Oolong tea.

You can buy some Pu'er from Jia Thong Heng main branch near the Chedi hotel or at the Tea shop in JJ market has a lot of Pu'er. Make sure to rinse the tea in hot water first and at the first brew. Never leave the tea in hot water for more than 50sec to 1 mins or they will be bitter and have negative effects. (sorry for the lengthly reply as I don't have many people to talk to about tea!)

  12. According to this 'American fried rice' history, I think you can add bacon or any leftover breakfast items!

    http://th.wikipedia.org/wiki/ข้าวผัดอเมริกัน

It really needs bacon though, but it mostly comes with lower quality ham. (And hot-dog and fried chicken, of course). Then fry the rice in the bacon drippings. Add the ketchup near the end, and consider fine-tuning the ketchup with some mustard/vinegar/worcestershire/HP Sauce/whatever.

  13. I was at Makro this morning asking around for 'cheese flavored' Mama and I was greatly disappointed they never heard of it! Check with customer service and they never have it in stock! May be you're talking about Korean cheese noodle? I've been looking everywhere for Mama spicy cheese

I happened to notice a lady at Makro last night buying about 12 industrial size boxes of the Mama (or whatever brand it is) apparently new 'cheese flavored' instant noodles along with 2 other trolleys full of instant noodles. So I guess it's already a big hit here.

  14. Japanese love mayo and I don't think they were thinking of American style. They just love mayo! They use mayo in roe pasta, in pizza, in takoyaki, in japanese style pizza etc..

The funniest thing was having sushi in Japan and they made it american style. Had mayo on it and other nasty stuff. I traveled all the way expecting something genuine and what I got was worse than local shops in the US with high school kids preparing the food. I had to spend a fortune to get good Sushi in Japan.''

Only in Thailand can you get American fried rice (still don't understand what that is)

American fried rice is rice flavored with ketchup, fried chicken, cocktail sausages, raisins and fried egg.
