  1. can you imagine students from Europe or US doing this

Thai kids live with their parents until they are over 30s or get married so it's the Thai and Farang cultural-time-frame-differences thing. (my sister and brother in laws are in their 40s and still live with their 70s yld mother!)

  2. Not in my area, the bad guys do take notice of your house like their own. They know when and who leave the house and who stay home. Besides Thai police won't do nothing unless there are pictures.

A camera won't stop a thief and they may not even notice one.

  3. I paid for the infrared camera 1900 each and a recorder around 15000 but could be less as it is for 16 cameras.

Install motion sensor with alarm system is expensive but work great!

Install a few security cameras with a good recorder. It's all worth it.

Just out of curiosity - any idea how much these cost to buy + install ?

  4. I'd really love to find someone selling turkey legs.  Butterball produces a turkey leg just like they do a turkey breast.  Seems the breast make it to Thailand, but not the legs.  Bummer!  Our oven is too small to accomodate an entire turkey and we like dark meat the best.

The result reminded me of the southern-style succotash I used to have at family reunions down in Georgia when I was a larval human, BCE (before cholesterol era).

I wonder if pressure-cookers are now a "controlled substance" ?

Thanks for the memories Posted Image

I ve made succotash using the froozen broad bean from Kasem store I think and with Japanese beans and sweet corn very nice

  5. Reading through your post it just proves to me what I have long suspected.

In Chiang Mai , there are a lot more Boob men than there are Leg men

Oh I got it I think Im a boob man but buttetball breast are brined they are as juicy as dark meat.

  6. I went to Kunming and Li Chiang etc.. I see the opposite. The place is very clean no spitting and no bicycles. Road is clean and people obey the law.

In China, pedestrians are at the bottom of the pecking order, even if you are a foreigner/western/laowai. They must give way to bikes and scooters, who must give way to cars and so on. A pedestrian crossing means nothing (except a target), as does a red light most of the time, so when in China, you have to give up all western ideas, that the traffic is going to stop for you.

As for spitting, the Chinese believe it is unhealthy to have gunk in your lungs, so they cough it up and spit it out. They laugh at us for spitting the gunk into a hankie or tissue then putting it back into our pockets. Many Chinese are poor, so they do not buy tissues, or if they have money, they are not in the habit of using tissues or putting anything in rubbish bins.

The traffic drives on the US/European side of the road in China, so they must have assumed Thailand was the same. I doubt if they had international licenses either, as the Chinese think their driver's/rider's licenses are good in any country (<deleted>?).

And finally the Chinese tourists wandering down the middle of the road like brown's cows is normal here in China, as the footpaths are so busy or full of electric bikes and scooters, or so badly broken up they are dangerous to walk on. They are tone deaf to horns, and a nudge will, as another TVer wrote, result in a compo payout. Best to give them a scare, but from experience, that doesn't always mean that they will actually LEARN anything from the experience.

  7. Seriously you tried the Ramen at Ninja and you think it's not that good? I've never been to Japan but I think they work pretty hard on those noodle dishes at Ninja and the place always packed with some Japanese (not because the food is cheap)

Been all over Japan since 1987 and NEVER heard of peanut Ramen. In Chiang Mai Ninja is pretty good. They have Shio, Miso, Shoyu, etc.and and many Jp expats eat there. By the way the best Ramen I ever ate was in Kagoshima 2 months ago. I am a big fan of Asahikawa's Shoyu but it was truly a revelation.

Sorry, but I must respectfully disagree, and say Japan's best ramen can be found in Fukuoka. In Chiang Mai, we're doing well to get Nissen cup-noodle.....

  8. Wow sounded like a Native American quote about nature, but let us not overindulge at "the feast" as "the ants" are taking over my kitchen. And pretty soon my keyboard wai2.gif

    Well Gonzo it is like this.;

Some times you eat the bear and]

Some times the bear eats you.

It looks like we are going to have two straightg days where we can dine on Bear meat.smile.png

  9. The condition of the toilet when I was admitted myself was not good for the VIP room price. Similar to Suandok hospital which is public

Personally I think CM Ram is not going to do improve a lot until they face the real competition from BKK which is soon.

    But the poster said

Service was great and nurses were all professional and spoke good English.

All wanted to help and manage my pain levels and frequently checked on me with the doctors

I am quite sure he was referring to the condition of the rooms as described by Lawrence.

  10. I mean 5 baht

Not even a 5 bath sushi on walking street?

Hope you get well soon. Personally I think CM Ram is not going to do improve a lot until they face the real competition from BKK which is soon. How did you get food poisoning anyway, mine was the last time I had some sushi at some expensive restaurant last thing I'd expect from that place.

I wouldn't eat raw anything here.
    what does 5 bath mean
