For me it's not a question of money, I have enough and can live well in any country of my choice.

I like the variety here, from south to north and northeast, everything is different, the people the language, food and culture, it is a diverse country with lots of interesting things. I have lived places here that I certainly do not like and places I love. The choices available in Thailand is great. My wife and I have discussed several times whether we should move to another country, but we both agree that we are getting the most out of our life here.

I have chosen to settle me in Isaan, in my opinion the absolute best place to stay in Thailand. We spend 2 months each year on holiday around Thailand, the rest of the time we are enjoying ourselves here at home.

I always find these threads quite entertaining.

In the end it is very sad in a way. In your home country, threads like this do not exist. There is a reason why.

The simple fact is that people come on here to justify their decision to be with a girl half(or more) their age and look for moral support from the others doing the same. If you were HONESTLY HAPPY and COMFORTABLE with your decision you would not be posting this question on any website looking for validation. Time to look in the mirror.

It's like this: Thais are not going to treat you with respect if you lack hygiene, manners, polite dress habits, and basically walk around with a sense of owning the damned place.

How Thais treat people has far less to do with that person's nationality and/or race than it does with how that person presents himself, behaves, and relates to others around them.

A Thai guy walking around in a singlet with his gut hanging out and a liter of Singh in his hand, acting the total slob and being a pest would be treated no better than his farang counterpart.

This is an extreme stereotype, of course, but Thais (just like anyone else) are sensitive to manners, upbringing, appearance, cleanliness, dress, sobriety, "dating habits", etc.

If you are lacking, it isn't going to matter if you're a farang, black, Arab, or another Thai.

You have to earn the way you are treated here -- you can't just expect it because you show up.

One of the flaws in your comments relates to farangs insisting on living a "western" lifestyle...but it appears to me that large numbers of Thai's aspire to or even live that "western" lifestyle as well...so are you suggesting Thai's are not intergrating into their own society ?

Yes I accuse many farang to make it more difficult to live here. I have seen countless times how badly many farang behave in Thailand. Zero respect for the government and the people. I'm talking about expats, not tourists.

One farang who behave badly makes big waves in the system and destroys for those others who live here and behaving.

It is true that there was a big poll on the age difference in marriage a few years ago and it was done on a national basis in Thailand. 15 ½ years match there.

I see many advantages to marry a young girl, it's much easier to influence her Western ways. A young girl is easier to learn new things and change her way of thinking.

Thank you. I'll take it slowly and quietly. moo ban is okay, I've seen in several moo ban, but not seen anything for rent. I've tried to hang up posters in bars before, but it was just nonsense . I have plenty of good experience with renting from Thai in Nong Khai, but my contact person is in Bangkok. As said I have plenty of time.

Thais are afraid of the garbage bins. They think it's a ghost that lives there. Thailand eyes do not see garbage just flowers, they do not care about garbage, because they can not see it. Place garbage in front of the door of a house and see if anyone picks it up, nope! They can not see it .

Maximum speed limit in Thailand is 90km unless otherwise indicated. So far, I've never seen road sign outside of BKK that allows one to exceed 90 km.

I can add, that I have never understood the meaning of stripes separating the lanes in Thailand.

One thing is for sure, when your wife and MIL are talking together, they talk about something completely different than you think. I think your wife is just as interested in the sin sod. as the mother. Her problem is to get you to pay at least painful way to save the marriage. This is Thailand, everyone related is responsible unless stated otherwise in black and white. Banks are more clear cut before issuing the loans, sharks don't give a hoot, they hound the debtor all the way to the work place if need to.

When I was in court with my ex-wife 5 years ago, only loans to the bank that both had signed the contract was valid, she had borrowed money on deposit gold in a shop and it was not valid in court. She had borrowed money on a motorcycle after losing in gambling. The court sentenced her to sell the house and site and share 50/50 with me, pay me 50/50 of gold she had borrowed money. Money she had borrowed on the motorcycle was seen as her private debt. The court sentenced her to 1000 Bath fine for borrow money on gold without my consent. Costs were shared.

I m not being funny here,,,,but causes of bad concentration can be down to

1. Masturbation...although not something many have much need for in Thailand ...but even shagging to excess can lead to bad memory and concentration problems. I have done an empirical study of this one,

2. Not enough sleep

3. Alcohol can dull the mind.

4. Too much caffeine

5. Stress.

6. Too much going on in your life.

7. Poor diet

I m sure there are more, but if you can eliminate those to start with and it is still there, then you could look into other causes, or potential causes.

Oh I totally agree but everyone except number 5 is a possible candidate, I dont drink coffee or alcohol and my diet is very good. I sleep extremely well and as for number one well perhaps there are two then lol.

Yes you can get fat from eating too much durian a lot of calories. there are facts that durien react adversely with alcohol, people have died of excessive amount of alcohol and durian.
