  1. Whats important is what Isan people think them self, so I asked my FIL and hes frinds during lunch. They said Lao and Isan "same, same" My FIL sayd that if it was Lao or Isan dident give him more food on the table :mfr_closed1::cheesy:

  2. A Consulate issued visa is all that should be required for one way travel. For visa exempt entry on arrival (30 day stamp) proof of onward travel within 30 days may be required by airline.

You are aware retirement visa can only be obtained in home country? What can be obtained in Thailand is a one year extension of a non immigrant visa entry. So tourist visa would have to be changed to a single entry 90 day non immigrant entry prior to retirement extension of stay. Most people find obtaining such a visa from a Consulate or Honorary Consulate to be an easy alternative for arrival.

You can change your TouristVisa in BKK imigration to Non img, 90 day visa for 2000B fee. and then get your extension. You can also get a Non Img visa in nighbor contry of Thailand. Rember to have income proof of 800.000 Bath in bank or 60.000 Bath monthly Translatet to Thai.

Its 65,000 baht a month income and the letter from Embassy doesn't have to be in Thai. In the last year I have left LAX for BKK twice the first time was on a tourist visa and the second was on a non-o, neither time was I asked for an onward bound ticket and the guy at the counter didn't check the visa page. This was EVA airlines.

Apply thru Portland Consulate for a non-o for retirement purpose and then get your extension of stay at immigration. The non-o can be handled by mail. I would call her first at the consulate just to make sure she will give you the visa to explore retirement. I got my non-o for visiting friends.

In BKK and Nong Khai they want it translatet to Thai. In Lao, Vientian I gave both and she only read the thai part but she diddnt asked for it. If you rent a house you got Non Img as well.

  3. My wife is happy I believe, because I let her be herself and I take note of her needs and address them....And I always ask her if she is happy with something just to make sure...She is rewarding me by bearing our baby due in 2 months or so...

    Nice :violin:

  4. In the situation described by the OP, ie travelling to Thailand without a visa (avail of the visa-free periods of travel during Thailand: ie., leaving to Laos before 30 days) the airlines can, and often do, require proof of leaving Thailand within 30 days from arrival as a condition for allowing the passenger to board.

Yes thats way I wrote get a touristvisa :) Last time I traveled from Norway on a onewayticket and no visa, I was asked how I will leave Thailand. I said bus, no problem, but that was Norway. I supose you can say you wil make a Non Img visa in BKK as well :D One ting for sure they dont ask if you have a tourist visa.

  5. He will found out at the Amphur.

The Kor Ror 2 will state that she is divorced.

If it was registered at all

It has to be, she lived in sweden for 3 years and gave birth to 2 children there, so she have to registered the marrige in Thailand as well if she got married in Sweden

Not necessarily. I married my wife in Europe and we had a kid together. In fact our marriage is still not registered in Thailand. As far s as the ampur is concerned my wife is still single.

Am not sure, but if she is not registered in Thailand then she arived in sweden on a touristvisa. Anyway if she is going to merriy this man she ned a certificate of non marrige from amphur translatet in to english so it will state her civil status divorced or singel. hehehe :D

  7. Judging from the trailer, the film sets out to make fun of the Lao-speaking Issaners. The western guys seem quite innocent and well-mannered. It looks like just another Bangkok put-down. The villagers are portrayed as drunkards, prone to violence and generally stupid.

No wonder there's so much ill-feeling in the Northeast toward Bangkok and the kind of people who find this kind of thing funny.

    The trailer's at http://www.movieseer..._(White_Buffalo)

The language of the Isan is called Isan, not Lao.

Correct! why do people (who are generally living outside Isaan) make this mistake? I am not fluent in either but i do get by. Isaan dialects vary region to region BUT ISAAN IS NOT LAOS even though the two do share some common terms. The Laos language also has many dialects. Anyhoo, this is only my opinoin after 9 years living on the Laotian Border - no doubt more learned brethren will contradict me.

I speak fluent Lao and isaan and its not that big difference but it seems that Thai`s like to refeer isaan to Lao language, they say "wao Lao" not "wao isaan"

  8. Taksin was the first real hope for Thailand to become a real democracy as opposed to the mock democracy it is now and always has been.

    1. Taksin rose from the non-elite to the elite by forming his own political party and winning the popular vote.

    2. Taksin was the longest serving elected prime minister in the history of Thailand.

    3. It was up to the voters to get rid of Taksin, not the army. The army once again killed any hope for a real democracy.

I am not pro-Taksin but I do support some of his populist initiatives to improve the lives of the working poor. More work needs to be done in this area.

Good post and my sentiments exactly.

By the way, is there anything wrong about meeting your girlfriend/wife in a bar? Or is it veiled snobbery that makes posters feel they have to state that they didn't meet their girlfriend/wife that way? Why is someone's background so important?

In my opinion it is not quite normal to marry a whore. Think it's a fetish thing two do. And she's probably full of trauma and other mental disorders.

He wrote 'meet in a bar' not 'gogo bar' or 'bargirl' -- very different.

Not at all......... Dont tell me that Thai girls sitting in front of a bar is not a hocker..... regular Thai girls do not go to bars, especially farang bars.

  9. you have to be careful. Thai Ladies are able of everything, can be dangerous. So stay away of this story is my best advice

OH Yes i Know, been here for 22 years :)I have been in qourt whit simulars Girl. defamation and unlawful entry to her house to retrieve things.

  10. You don't have to lie, but you don't need to tell the truth either, if the farang in question asks you a direct question, just answer that you don't know.

I dont know him and I hope he never will ask me. That girl have put me in a position I dont like. I will just stay away from them I think.

  13. 500k Sinsod? Post a pic of this beauty (is it against the rules?) and let the mob decide on her looks if 500k is fair value.

I went to a 300k sinsod wedding where the woman was 30+, a couple of kids and formerly of the Pattaya pole molesters.

    TheWalkingMan

She is not pretty at all, 24 years old. the girl lights of Pattaya Bar in the forehead, I'm curious how old farang is when he comes he is old and from Germany. The girl had a nice body so it is difficulty to see that she has children with clothes on LOL She also said that it was only money she was looking for. Love you looooong hours hehehe

  14. Did you mean "A Thai girl wants me to lie for her" ?

Dumb to lie about having children, not difficult to know if a girl has had children or not.

Yes it was :jap: I postet it to fast, English is not my nativ language :)

What a mother, leave here children an lie aboth them....

  15. Mr. Dan

You are on thin ice. You drag most of us who live here down in the dirt. You are totally useless and should ask us who live here for completely different reasons, an apology.

I do not like Thaksin, but for quite different reasons than the visa rules.

We have families at home who might read what you write and think that it's true. You should be ashamed of yourself your jerk. Sexpats is a very small part of us Foreigners who live around Thailand.

  16. There was a Thai girl who visited me today that I know a little bit here from the village, she told me she would marry a farang she has met. This girl had been married before and had children with a farang who live abroad whit here children.

Farang coming next month and she wanted me to lie and say that she had not been married before and had no children. I said that it was completely idiotic. Farang get to hear it from others as well, a little altercation in the village and he will know the truth. I told her I would not lie and she should tell the truth to the epidemic. Farang coming soon so this should be fun LOL

PS: Farang is paying 500K sin sod and give here a house :whistling:

When I speak isaan in Bangkok everybodey will say: Farang speak Lao same here in isaan, Farang speak Lao so there are no rule.

  18. You don't have to ask this question if you got an wife that is financially independent from you. If you are however paying for everything for her and her family there is a much bigger chance she is not happy but stays with you for the money.

I think most expats here dont have relationships where the girl can walk away and like to keep it this way. It makes them think their 20+ years younger wife who is drop dead gorgeous loves them for their handsome inner tire around his waist and great humor and manners instead of his money.

I wonder how many of those wives would leave the guy in the blink of an eye if she could get the same amount without having to be with the guy.

Just make sure your in a relationship where your wife has a real choice and you don't have to ask these kind of questions.

It's like getting married as soon as possible and then find out how your wife is. Why not spend some time before you get married, then you get fast answer to how the GF and her family are. Do not rush into a marriage with a Thai

If my wife had a 'real choice' there would be no way she would be with me.

No point in having money if you can't use it to shag (often) someone well out of your league!

PS. No rush here, I took a whole week to decide to marry mine, she couldn't speak English, I couldn't speak Thai ... perfect.

Then you have no reason to complain. I did the same thing 22 years ago, I soon learned to speak Thai and was thrown out of the village after 2 years I was almost killed, but an experience Richer LOL too many women in the same nest is not good.

  19. If you are fairly savvy so can you see if the lady is just out for money or not, but unfortunately there are so many farang who is on the monkey level here in Thailand and it's usually the ones who get to touch the poor women. First and foremost, you must accept that many girls here are raised to provide for their parents, if you fail there so you get an unhappy wife. If you can not afford to give some money to the parents so you can create a rift in the family. give a little is better than nothing.

  21. Norway has simular thinking whit Thais. If you want to live here learn the language. In Norway all the labels are in Norwegian. If you dont want to intergrate you will have problems.

Geez, people like you amaze me. Typical snotty-I'm-smarter-than-you-TV-reply.

What did I say in my post?

"I read one in Thai today that makes it simply dangerous for a non-English reader to buy the product..."

Now, what were you saying, in all your self-righteous gloating as many on this forum do, about my not learning the language?

And what about newcomers to Thailand? Instant Thai in three easy lessons?

And what about Thai that do not read English and can not see the WARNING on the label in English and it's not there in Thai?

    Well? What about it, bud?

And even then you got it wrong. I said Thai labels over English labels on imported products. Not Thai products.

Read first. INTEGRATE words to brain. Comprehend. Then reply.

    Tell me...

    Sorry :sorry:

  22. My wife is happy, I am happy :) Married for 4 years and never had any big problems. I am not saving up for a divorce so I can spend my money on my famely, and its makes me happy to make other villagers jealous, greedy little Thais. My FIL was the poorest man in the vilage no he is the richest and he realy takes back on them who made his life bad before, and I Like It:D
