With all the talk about Taxi's and Tuk Tuk robbery in Phuket I don't see why some Farang hasn't seen it as a business opportunity most countries have shuttle busses the fraction of the cost of a Taxi to and from the airport, instead of bitching about it why doesn't wait there is one http://www.airportbusphuket.com/ only 85 baht! So stop the bitching. You don't want to wait for the bus then pay the 650 baht for a taxi it's an hour long ride honestly I don't see how it's a rip off?

The problem isn't as much Yahoo as it is users, ThaiVisa are probably being punished because of idiot users who click SPAM instead of the unsubscribe link.

I have a mailing list with 60% of people who live in Thailand here how it's broken down by client, I can only assume ThaiVisa has similar numbers so if they do this they'll lose 50% of their business because i doubt people are going to change email addresses just so they can view ThaiVisa, what a joke.

I think an important point of relevance, disregarding the main topic, are the words in the post:

In essence, the officials were simply dismissed after their good and impressive financial take. That is an importnat point, and it STINKS.

Anywhere else they'd be in court and serving time after a trial.

This is the most inteligent thing I've heard in the thread so far, to be dismissed would mean they had either suspicion or proof, that said of course there would be charged brought against them anywhere else. It stinks and like you said Mel. I too hate how the police in Thailand are ABOVE the law.

I don't understand why everyone is so pesimistic honestly, packing up and leaving because of the smog? What a joke, and move where? Bangkok, yeah there's no smog down there. Things cleared up last night and soon the rains will come and it'll all be over for another year. It's nowhere near as bad as Beijing or what LA used to be like 10 years ago and even then it's still worse than here in my mind. Say what you will about it things are still better in Chiang Mai than elsewhere in Thailand.

Not true: the mother of a child with German nationality has the right to stay with the child in Germany, because it is the given right to a mother to take care of her child. Even not a language test is needed under this circumstances. When she wants to be with her child in Germany, she don't need to show money, give a proof of return, not need to be married to a German etc. And I can imagine, this is similar at other countries.

That's not true, how many fake Thai ID's have you seen? 7 years minimum jail for the person who makes them and noone is willing to make them either.

the majority of these girls have little to no education, and this is a way of providing sufficient funds for them to survive, and also to send money to family. The thai government needs to encourage the younger generation to try stay in school and also to provide good grants for 3rd level education.

Goverment schools are allready free and any Thai can get a loan to do University. It's not the government but the school boards that don't enable students do work part time, why? Because they hold classes, activities, and exams on weekends and after/before school hours so working part-time is not an option and moonlighting as a sideline girl the only form of work they can get. As for guys, yes they do it to, only half the guys in a gay bar are actually gay!

What about the programs that will be loaded onto the tablets i mean, has anyone actually seen the curiculum that they intend to teach with these things? Thailand doesn't even have a functioning e-library so how is this even going to work. They don't even talk about a budget to build software, training, etc for the dam_n tablets. What a joke.
