  1. Please ignore all the negative comments on your question,. I sometimes wonder why many of these posters bother to live in this country (a lot of them probably don't!) It is all do-able, An education visa is probably the best bet to start with and if you buy a property an o visa shouldn't be a problem either. Go for it. Have fun and good luck! My partner is under 50 and we have had no problems so far.

    Well Said.

Sure there are problems with visa's in Thailand, I was successful in getting a Green card to America, that was much harder (100 times harder) than getting a visa in Thailand!! Thailand IS Visa friendly, stop biatching about it and work with the system not against it. for those who say not to come here, then i say perhaps you should leave.

  2. People arn't being very helpful here, come on guys.

Here's what I would do, (and have done since I was 28)

    1. Come on a buisness visa sponsored by a friend who has a business back home (very easy to do) this gives you 1 year.

    2. Get on a ed visa with a reputable school a suggest Walen, you need the language anyway so why not. This gives you up to 10 years.

    3. No idea what your going to do here but for the first few years learn thai until your fluent so you can get by with your ed visa for up to 10 years yeah.

    4. Now your 41 can't get a ed visa so your only option is investment. Be wise with your money if your making 3000 a month spend only 1500 I spend about 800 a month and live in chiang mai, have 2 girlfriends party once a week and live better than when i made 12000 a month in california. now open a business in thailand will cost you about 2,000,000 baht no less if you save 1000 a month for 10 years this should be more than enough. you don't have to have a real business just a cover so you get a work permit, with teh work permit you can now live here until your able to retire here.

I don't care how they change the laws for immigration this way of doing it has rarely changed.

If you want to know how to live frugly in chiang mai do a search in google for "how to live in chiang mai on $10 a day"

  3. I agree, I know for a fact people who get robbed every single day of the week and I'm sure it amounts to more than 1,000,000 baht per day that's stolen. Maybe not in one go. but still. But what I really can't understand is the stupidity of people who think leaving valuables lying around the house is what is concidered safe. Would you leave 1,000,000 baht or even better yet say $30,000 just sitting on the kitchen table even if you've lived in the house for 20 years. You wouldn't do it anywhere especailly in an unsecured house (It was if he got in that easily).

It's like the 20 odd different people I know in california who had the car broken into, and their wallets and purses stolen that was sitting on the passenger seat. Som Nom Nah

  4. LOL, please Louise not another newbie quoting slick man.

My Buddah, actually if that guy would have taken his own advice maybe he would not have spent the most productive years of his working life wasting away as an English teacher wannabe and private detective hack ratting on bar girls. Sad really.

But I do hope he tricks ... I mean finds some buyer for that outdated website so he can finally escape the bar scene which he writes that he so loathes but cannot somehow break free. Maybe it is an addiction like Any Winehouse but then again slick man is far past the 27-years old club.

I was reading some topics about thai girls on another website. livingthai.org. You should read the crap that has been written on there.

For instance - How to get your girlfriend into bed with another girl. Why get to know a girl and manipulate them so much, as to get them into bed with another girl. What a complete head f%cker he is to do that to a person. Then go's out of his way to write about it, so someone else can do it or a visitor to Thailand can have the impression that Thai girls are just pieces of meat, that you can do what you like to them.

No wonder falangs have a bad name in Thailand, if thats the kind of sh_t that is floating around.

Sorry if i wasn't supposed to name the website. Not sure of the rules on that. But just makes me angry at the way some people think they can treat someone, just because they need money.

What are you on about? I looked at that site and can't find any reference to a threesome. I get your post from an anti sex attitude but what does it have to do with the OP? Are you just a Stick flamer? Do you agree with the OP or disagree with him? And what is the reference to poor women being easy to manipulate? Anyone knows it is easier to get a threesome with hi so ladies than farm girls.

    http://www.livingtha...manipulate.html. Their you go.

If you knew me you would know i'm not anti sex. I just hate the way people write crap about Thai women; Then someone who has never been to Thailand, reads it and then he thinks there all the same. Whores or women that you can treat like sh_t as long as you give them some money.

You've got to be pretty misguided if you read one article off the internet and then think women are all the same, I read the article and it doesn't generalise at all, it's based of his experience with one girl. And what's wrong with treating Thai women like <deleted> anyway. If you want to be an a**hole then be one. I don't know where you live in Thailand but most people I know who travel to Thailand come for the girls, they may be nicer to them than that guy but in the end their just using them for s*x so what's the difference. I say to anyone who can teach other travellers to Thailand how to take advantage of Thai girls the better. And how to get the girl into a threesome, priceless!

  5. There are a number of non-Thai undercover agents and volunteers in law enforcement here in Pattaya apart from those who will do something in exchange for getting out of a situation - blackmail if you will.

You can have any opinion you like on the merits of all that.

However, none of that takes away the facts of a man working illegally without a work permit and engaging in prostitution and nowhere in the world is someone else getting away with it an excuse for what you did yourself.

This has to be a joke post yeah?

BTW I dont think he was engaging in prostitution...doubt he would have too many customers.

The law here was selectively enforced whilst the rest of the 3000 odd beer bars are doing the same thing yet nothing is being done.

Farangs that work for the Thais as so called undercover agents are just about as low as you can get. If they really had some sort of conscience they might go down to the beach and act as under cover agents in the jet ski scam!

Who are you to say that Farangs working undercover are low. They do a good job and help out more people than you can imagine. If it wasn't for the tireless efforts of the undercovers and the tourist police who work for nothing by the way, then Thailand would be more lawless than it already is.

The guy broke the law so the only person who is low here is the guy who opened the bar for the sole purpose of flaunting and breaking the law.

  6. Basic economics really, most of the people who voted for her don't even understand the economics, they just want the 300 per day. It won't ever happen not this year not next, big businesses still control things here just like other countries, they won't allow it. We'll see what really happens but if they do, expect many peopele to just close up shop.

  7. Your school says you can learn for 10 years but you only have 3 books. At the most it would take someone 3 years to learn to the 3rd book. How can you continue studying at your school if you don't add any more books, would you also agree that it's impossible to become fluent at your school since you only have 3 books? Have you any plans to update the books or add further instruction where people who have lived here for years can become fluent in Thai language through your school.

My own thoughts would be that if you had people walking around Thailand fluent in Thai and said that they got fluent by studying at Walen it would only help right? Then why not add the courses, especially in Chiang Mai since there isn't one school in Chiang Mai that has enough course work for someone to become fluent.

I asked about private study at Walen too, but there is no coursework or book (nor does anyone else here have it) so you have any plans to add some real profficiency to your courses?

  8. Mr Churro Donut In Chiang Mai has donut machines, donut mix, and donut bikes for sale, franchising available you can contact me for contact if you like, these donuts are better than krispy kremes! the donut droppers they used to have in Tesco are now used at Mr Churro Donut.

  9. Don't waste your money at a thai language school unless you need a visa. Go to the local university library and you'll find a good thai language book, study it yourself and just ask your thai g/f or thai people to help you pronouce stuff. Forget about learning thai until you have mastered the alphabet. Once you know the alphabet you can then say any thai word properly without problem and will expediate the learning process. I speak/read/write thai at a thai grade 4 level after 2 years by doing this. And cost me virtually nothing. Don't learn thai from a thai person, learn it yourself. The thai language schools are private institutions just trying to make a buck and could care less about your ability. When i thai person starts learning thai at school they start with the alphabet same with kids back in your country, so if the language school doesn't start with the basics then they are not teaching you correctly. It's a fact that an adult from a western country can learn the thai alphabet quicker than a thai kid starting out at school, Why? because we already understand language and writing. Once you can write basic sentences run straight to the computer and start chatting online to thai people, your language will improve better than going to a school and it will be more fun not to mention economical.

  10. My gut feeling is this guy was a part of a sting operation (unlucky) or just really dumb. For starters in Thailand if you get caught in a crime you can pay your way out before you get to the station. Once your at the station your screwed it'll take 20times more money to get out of if your busted by a few cops. But i know if your apart of a sting operation you can't pay your way out normally because too many people know about the case. That's just how things work.

If you want underage sex go to cambodia or America. I say america because 1 in three american women are fooled around with at a young age so it must be pretty rife there.

And no this guy is not a Pedophile, she is underage but she isn't a baby! Thai girls in this business are happy to do it and they are not forced into it, the ones who are forced into it are the burmese, loas, chinese girls. This girl didn't mind and nor should you guys.

Technically in Thailand if the girl doesn't press charges herself and her parents say it was ok nothing can happen to the guy, (though he'll still pay a fine but do no time). I watched not long ago a thai news channel of a 7y/o addicted to sex with her 40y/o neighbor and that the girl still lives there with her mom because her mom doesn't want to charge the neighbor she just wants her daughter to stop having sex and that's why she went to the media to get advice to stop her daughter having sex. That's a true story. The law does say it's illegal under 18 but the law also says that under 20y/o the parents have control over what the daughter can and cannot do, so the laws overlap each other meaning you can marry a 13y/o if the mom gives permission then you can have sex with her. I know of several couples who were married one 26 and the girl 13.

So basically he pays a dowry to the parents then he'll walk away, and so he should, this isn't the place for more Chris Hanson and the entrapment that stupid US cops pull every day.
