  1. Not mentioned by you, maybe for obvious reasons, but the GF and I are currently in Cambodia and liking it a lot. There's also a noticeable French (including language) influence here.Out of the three countries that you mentioned, Vietnam is the only one on our short term radar, but that's down to personal preference. You know... How stupid I am and can be. Never thought of Cambodia for the French influence. Even Laos big French influence. Both of these countries just a couple of hours by air from Chiang Mai. Thanks for opening my eyes.

No worries! Yes I enjoyed Laos very much a few years ago when I was there.

CM direct to Laos, or only a couple of hours to Cambodia via BKK, all very easy.

  3. It is professional in a sense, as that the players are paid. CMFC are in a lower division, second I think. There certainly are some better teams in the top division, such as Buriram etc.In terms of skill level, I would rate Australia's A-League as higher.

As for the rolling around on the floor bit, welcome to Asian football.

Why, who said it wasn't ?

No one mate. Just trying to give the OP, who is an Aussie, a point of reference.

  4. Combine that with a bunch of over-age, alcoholic expats who, at best, are re-living their glory days of playing amateur football, and at worst suffering delusions of being able to play, what did you actually expect?

A bizarre comment by someone who has obviously never been to a game.

  6. Hi Paul

This question comes up here all the time, so if you search the forums, or do a google search, you'll find all the answers you need.

If it's a land crossing you are looking for, a day trip to Mae Sai will suffice. If it's an airport, then take your pick of destinations.

  7. Probably unrelated, but a whole bunch of bib including the tourist police were spotted at one of the Chang Klan karaoke places last night. It appeared that they had arrived in quite a hurry.

  8. Confirming that they hit parts of Loi Kroh tonight, and the regular on site police were made aware of their presence, and ongoing activities. Make of that what you will...

Did the places that were hit, pay up or did they say NO....... Did they take anyone to the same police station?????

Two places said no, as they are staffed by some older, wiser heads. Another coughed up the dough. It was also mentioned by the business owners that the offenders prefer to target female staff only operations.

  9. has any one used the dental clinic at taphe gate,i think?its called smile they have two clinics, one by macdonalds the other by the jungle shop, lol

Yes I went there for a laser light clean.

While the treatment itself was fine, I was put off by the dentist and two nurses gossiping and joking around the whole time. A small, perhaps isolated thing, but I expect a bit more professionalism in that kind of atmosphere.
