  1. HI AGIAN THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLYS PETE AND SOM

Just a quick update. After the point blank refusal to add her name to my existing account I got the phone call yesterday saying our new joint account has been approved with FULL credit facilities! :D Even more of a joke they offered a Credit card also!!!!! So much for the credit check! :D

So rule of thumb open new joint account making yourself the primary holder and everything should be easy!

    Banks . . . I doubt I'll ever understand just how the hel_l they do anything!!! :o

EDIT: Oh yes as for the Natwest . . I could never recommend them to anyone even though I used them for 15 years yes the Advantage Gold is a con - their charges are nigh on extortion - particularly when using cards abroad. Which is the big benefit of the Nationwide that they don't charge nothing. Also the Natwest only give a Maestro debit card on your account if you give a shop in Laos (or Thailand for that matter) a Maestro card they'll just look at you strangely and ask you what it is!!

so if we go and open joint account they will not ask for her id???????????????????

  2. I have asked n/wide bank also to add her to my bank account but they said they need to do a credit check on her ,and need to see a household bills in her name. (what a load off b*******) now getting some bills in her name but all takes time.

found out from woolich b/s that british telecom will not change name on bill now,you have to close account in my name then open new one in her name ,but still come up agianst them doing credit check so no point.

I did the same as you went in to the bangkok bank in kalasin with passport 10 min later got bank account and card.SO EASY TO DO,PLus THEY ARE HELPFULL TOO

Also I completely agree about the argument of not having to pay the extra council tax! If you didn't need to collect the bit of paper for the ILR I wouldn't of informed them.

Are you saying i will need my wife on the electorl roll for the ilr?????

THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLYS PETE AND SOM

  3. I also agree with vinny and prakanong the degree will put her in good stead for the future.

regarding the vv visa she told the embassy that she would return after 2 months, i think that this would be the best thing to do as this is what she said she would do. she could stay for the full six months but like you say the embassy will not like this when you apply for your settlement visa.

iam sure scouse and gu22 will will point you in the right direction

but in the end the decision is up to you both, but i think you should think off the long term.

all the best pete and som :o

  7. There is no minimum requirement for income and/or savings as everybody's circumstances are different. The basic requirement is that you should be able to support and accommodate yourselves without recourse to public funds.

iam sure when Scouser & GU22 read your post they will be giving you some good adivce.

    all the best

  8. I agree with Backpack thailand ,last year i flew with Emirates,3 times absolutely SUPERB! and like he says the food was very good, great service and the duty-free shopping in Dubai is very good as well.

Emirates all the way for me now! thai airways no good and very expensive.

maybe i will try eve airways this year

  9. thanks guys for quick replys

    one thing scouse you say

No, there is no rule which says she can only be away for 1 month. She will have to show, however, that the UK is where she lives excluding holidays.

do you recomened then no more than a month ??

    cheers pete

  10. Hello guys

I know you have being asked this many times before but i want to make sure we get it right.

    Ok here it goes

My wife has been in England for just over seven months now, and I am in the midst of making sure that she has various things in order to show them in London that we are still together etc etc and she is still registered at our marital address.

    i.e : bank acc/bills/letters/nic number/bt phone bills etc

I know that we have to do forms etc when she has being here 23 months is this right?

Also she would like to go and visit her mum back in thailand,is it right that she can only be out off the uk for max 1 month????

After 3 years she can get uk passport???

Will she have to take the life in the UK & English tests?????

Also is it true that if my Thai wife took UK Citizenship she would lose her rights in thailand?????

any help will be greatfully excepted :o
