It really hasnt been proved that there are cynical types on TV . The general consensus is that there is more to this story that what has been told , which, quite clearly there is .

It is extremely unusual, practically unheard of for a person to be taken from a visa extension application to an airport and sent home .

It really isnt being cynical , its being practical .

The OP is quite clearly not telling the full story

Really- i'm calling BS on this, there's more to this story than meets the eye, this is a wind up, it never happened to me therefore it can't be true etc etc. Seems pretty cynical to me

The bank letter can be from the day before (ALL mine have been) but the sum in the bank letter must EXACTLY match the sum on the last entry of the passbook, and the passbook must be updated the SAME day as your  extension application.

I don't think this is true, I always stick 100 baht in the book on the day to update the bankbook, so it's different from the day before letter. If I have not done this the officer will tell me to anyway

  3. I sent a similar guy up the soi an anonymous letter in Thai politely asking for the bass to be turned down, it worked. Falang going is not likely to work, their attitude is often no like go home. If they get a letter no idea who from ooh could be trouble. Did it with a dog owner as well with same result.

  4. I read on the Italy site that fees for short time visa may be waived if the Thai is married to a EU national. Anyone have experience of this? I always find the list of requirements off putting, in Italy's case they want you to provide stamped and signed document form hotels booked on the Internet, seems rather difficult that one.

  5. Learning the language is not all it's made out to be- who wants to listen to them talking about food and cows and what neighbor is shagging a mia noi?. No matter how well you learn it you will not be having meaningful conversations, not worth the bother past the basics. I always use good ear plugs when I am out with the family and don't care if only six, or nobody turns up at my funeral. !

  6. It's utter purgatory and although I have put up with Issan village stays for over 10 years and 8 trips I now refuse to go. It's BORING as usually no TV you can watch and no internet, nobody speaks English,  and eat the food at your own risk. Never ever give money or expensive gifts as you will be starting off on the wrong foot, food and drink only. Don't eat mr gop !

  7. Tried one from Tops, bright pink no good so assume either weak or they are immune to it. I read ones with  Bromethalin  in are pretty good but have not seen any with that in. Whats the best one to get in Thailand and from where, not interested in traps or getting a cat.

I know a group of overstayers in Bangkok, and between the 4 of them, have an accumulation of more than 20 years total overstay. A Brit with 13 yrs, a Finnish with 9 yrs, and other 2 other Brits on 4 yrs and 1 yr.  One has major mental issues, another an admitted alcoholic whose family has given up on him because of big sums of money sent to him on numerous occasions, so he can arrange for Emergency Travel Document, passport expired, a O/W ticket to UK and funds to cover his 20K baht fine at Imm. On all occasions the money has been squandered on alcohol and gone within weeks. 2 have no family support and are living on the street and relying on locals generosity for food and drink. What should I do, because I'm feeling  guilty about their situation? Do I dob them in, giving them free lodgings at the Imm. Detention Center until their families can pay for all associated costs to get them home? Or do I sit blindly by and do nothing? The BIB can be either stupid or blind and ignore or turn a blind eye to these long overstayers, who maybe lucky enough to shower weekly, and wash their clothes fortnightly.

Dob them in and do them a favor.

Can anyone recomend a good aircon ,repair man , ours moved away , we are in Banglamung

They are mostly idiots with a screwdriver who think they know what they are doing but don't. The best thing is to get the technicians in from the manufacturers. Ours was not running cold and I thought gas leak, got the Mitsubushi technicians in and they explained not gas leak and it had never been cleaned properly as too near the ceiling, they took it apart and did it properly. It actually had too much gas in it as the idiot who was cleaning it kept topping it up when no need. Mitsu's have a warning when gas is leaking anyway. Costs a bit more but no more idiots for me.
