  1. NO..not me....never in a gazillion year! I probably will die here too

I like Chiangmai.....nice weather, friendly people, and good foods (they really know how to cook thai foods!

If I sit around and do nothing all day long, I probably will get bored too...doesn't matter how great the city or super friendly people can be.

I think it helps to have some hobbies or interests to focus on besides doing all those touristsy things 24/7, and have realistic expectation of your local place and its people that you choose to be in and around. Not to mention that knowing the local language as much as possible is a big plus too.

Good luck with you move and send back some postcardssmile.png

  3. Wife and I have already agreed that we will break his legs and have him disqualified, along with wearing a wig, lipstick, shaved legs and arms and head out to the lottery camp on the day of his draft meeting.

or you can simply feed him a popsicle before bedtime every night for 3 months. Trust me, he will get thrown back to you faster than when he came in. They do not want any FAT kids!

Disclaimer: seen the selection process on Utubesmile.png

Ok you tell me....which country doesn't run by the rich and powerful who can't seem to do anything wrong?

You seem to disgust that many cases here didn't even get pass the courtroom. Go and read western news, many cases in the west didn't even get investigated seriously. Just to be fair here.

MF Global, Barclay interest rate rigged, Goldman insider trading, gold an silver market manipulation, who is Mario Drarghi- you tell me... ects?

There's been plenty of Western high fliers that have gone to jail, especially those that have bilked honest people out of their life savings. You can't compare Thailand and the West when it comes to dispensing justice. The Western media also demands answers where injustice is seen, not here.

Stamford?...Madoff?___just a drop in the bucket. They are nothing when comparing to the powerful EU, the Fed, or Goldman of what they are doing to millions of people in their region (s), country, and around the world... Wake UP

"You can't compare Thailand and the West when it comes to dispensing justice"....haha daydreaming or wishful thinking ?

The west is no better than Thailand, except in Thailand we may see more cases of primitive in nature and only affect a small group of people in each case. I think you’re taking it heart, because it’s stirring you basic human emotion just imagining it.

But the real cupids in life changing of the mass and many future generations to come (in bad ways) are from the WEST! Just because you can’t see or have emotional connection to them, it doesn't mean what happening inThailand are worse.

OK, I get it, the whole world is just a bottomless pit full of snakesh*t. Thailand is no better or worse than anywhere else.

  9. Yes "Build it and they will come!"

Haha...check these out_________This is for "D-condo Campus Resort" - the first Condo in Chiangmai by Sansiri co.th

Last September...People were willing to wait in line "at 3am", just to get the ticket "to get in the sale office" whenever it open in the morning. Some even camped out in a tent !!! ,,,funny stuff. These are people who were ready and willing to buy "presale-off plan". Don't see too many farangs here.

  10. Thais girls feel threaten by farang girls?

I wouldn’t think so. In fact many thais have more positive things to say about farang girls/women than about the farang men. The MAJORITY of thai girls/women think farang girls are cute to look at, easy going , more approachable, or fun to talk with.

Only if you have low self worth, or think TOO HIGHLY of yourself, or currently in a rocky relationship, then the thread topic may have some substance. From what I can see, thai girls are more jealous of other thai girls!..LOL

  11. I can’t be in Thailand, I am too famous. whistling.gif

Fell for the US on the first trip and I can't understand why many foreigners are there(thailand) in drove. For me, it’s easier to live a good life/retired young, and be anonymous in the US.

  12. Most major universities have their own website/page....where you can type in "your or any alumni name", then it will display the "degree and year" acquired.

But to view online of the full transcript?....never heard of it. Unless you contact the graduation department, where it can be had for a small fee.

  13. There are a few.....esp for Issaan sausage

1- Khun Yai - ร้านคุณยาย ....In front of 7-11 at Nimman (17:00 - midnight) ....very famous

    (08 4041 0213, 08 5525 3844....hopefully these numbers are still good)

    pSyMHrPsTkmT.jpg

2- also one.....in front of Rimping supermarket

3- another......in Thanin market (on ChangPeark rd) ....this one you have to go between 15:00 - 17:00 for best taste

    (next to CurryPuff seller...I think)

  14. Well the amount is very much subjective to each person, veeeeeery difficult to say.

    Because we have...

average farangs - with hi-so thais

average farangs - with so called lo-so thais.

    hi-so farangs - with hi-so thais

    hi-so farangs - with lo-so thais

    lo-so farangs - with hi-so thais

    lo-so farangs - with lo-so thais

Not to mention those groups that are supper stingy or overly generous!..., and not including cases with "special" needs and/or circumstances!smile.png

But if you insist on giving away your hard earned money, then whatever amount that you're happy of losing. I would think

  15. As for the Expat Club, is it made up of mostly non thai?

I think it will be quite awkward for me (a thai) to be in, and I don’t want to spend my time answering everything about Thailand, thai people, and thai culture.. in which I probably don’t know “everything” about it still.

You mentioned they mostly focus on the “end of life issues”. Well I’m not that old yet. In addition to that …I don’t understand why aging people would be spending much time talking about the end of a rainbow, rather than focusing on “how can I live happily and healthily everyday of my life until THAT DAY comes?”. I also think that many so called “EXPAT Club” tends to attract quite wide varieties of dubious characters(both thai & foreigners) trying to take advantage of older expats and their life saving. Nah I don't want to be in the middle of it. Just my point of view here

It’s probably not a right club for me also.

  16. Hellodolly...

Thank you for responding My interests?....hmm

Serious side: art (mostly abstract), architecture, issues in urban planning

Non-serious side: Hiking (once/month), exploring off beaten path places, cooking international cuisine , looking for truly yummy dishes around town (from sidewalk cafés to posh places). Fashion: French summer to bohemian style…

But most of all, I enjoy conversing with someone who…has good point/counter point views with constructive criticism, open mind, non-holy better than you attitude, non-colonial points of view, or not using religious/culture (both thai and western) as answers for everything. I’m not here to help someone finding a thai girlfriend/boyfriend… and not here to learn the English language (rather to keep up with my creative thinking process)

    Too tall order?smile.png

OK just push aside my serious side (nice, but not required, I can manage on my own). As for the rest, it would be nice to be in some organized club of those interests…just more fun w/ more people!

Facebook and internet friends are ok, however a face to face – in person is much more interesting and higher probability of being genuine.

  17. Do you know any social network/group that “has a good mixture of thai + foreign residents” in ChiangMai?

I’m not talking about foreigners with their thai wives/husbands, but a real social group where we can discuss varieties of subject in…with English language as the main medium.

I'm a Thai and would like to maintain my bilingual skill and afraid I might lose it...if don't use it frequently.

We’re planning to move to ChiangMai and don’t know too many people there. We will be working mostly from home and mostly very much happy with just the 2 of us. However from time to time…it would be nice to be able to socialize with other souls of similar interests.

    Thanks in advance
