  1. Treating these infestations and the chemicals used is dangerous, linked to a number of deaths in a hotel in Chiang Mai a few years back. Get an expert in
  2. Im expecting one from work via DHL in a few days with declared valued at only $250, I'll let you know how I get on... My current laptop in posession had no issues coming from Malaysia with DHL.
  3. Very good point, nobody will be begging you to take their cards - In fact, even with the requisite work-permit and good salary history - you may still find it extremely difficult to get accepted, especially in this financial climate and the risk appetite of an absconding farang.
  4. Kasikorn "The Passion" has good points scheme especially for foreign transactions.
  5. Non-O multi entries were never intended for living full-time in Thailand and there was a big panic when people couldn't do their visa-runs. The Covid visa was originally intended to help people that could not return to their home country. You probably want to think about seasoning the money to get 1 year extension - because nobody knows how long they will be dishing out Covid Visa's to everyone.
  6. That is a very interesting comparison but Healthcare and insurance is a major factor to consider (Education too if kids are involved). If I was to draw a similar table up then it would be a lot cheaper to live in the UK.
  7. While I am sure vast majority of births are uncomplicated and within the packages prices mentioned, you must remember that the baby will not always follow their time-table and want to come at night or at a weekend where a C-Section will not be package price. I paid 40K for my wifes C-Section in BKK Pattaya hospital 10 years ago, it was arranged through a private OB-Gyn clinic outside the hospital. I was terrified and had saved up as much money as I could in case of complications as that is when a for-profit hospital like that would screw you. Depending on your funds, consider the private/public hospital option carefully. There is nothing wrong with the Public hospitals, they could be knocking out maybe 20-30 a day, Compared to private hospitals 2-3 a day, they will be very experienced.
  8. I think the risk is low if shes been discharged but of course it's not my house she wants to stay in.
  9. This is when you see Thai private hospitals at their worst, when you cannot walk away and go to another one!
  10. If you spend more than 180 days a year in Thailand you are a tax resident here. Your dividend payments may be subject to the dual tax treaty with Estonia http://download.rd.go.th/fileadmin/download/nation/Estonia_e.pdf There is a kind of vague loophole that says dividend income earned in 2021 but remitted in 2022 could be free from tax. It's a minefield, with the OECD pushing on the CRS (Common Reporting System) for Tax which Thailand is now a signatory things could get complicated in the future but your income is not so high to become a priority. You do need a tax specialist with International experience.
  11. It obviously changes from office to office but there are two Syphillis tests - SRS and VDRL, some (well at least Prathum Thani) only accepts VDRL and medical certificate from a Hospital. I guess they know that it is far too easy to get a clean bill of health cheaply in a clinic.
  12. I found all the online info to be out of date. And it may vary of course from office to office, my office was Pathum Thani. My lawyer also called me asking about cancelling the work permit, I told him I don't need his help. This is just one mans experience of course and my visa is not linked to the work permit (I use non-o family + money in bank method). There are of course immigration implications for those on Non-B. But I pleaded with the labour office to cancel my work permit, even getting a little argumentative and they insisted it was not my problem. Gave me some papers to give to the employer, I said I am not on speaking terms with the employer and they basically said it's not my problem. It turns out that the employer was advised to report my finishing work with the immigration department too, which was unnecessary. As far as continuity is concerned I have since received a new BOI work Permit with exactly the same Work Permit number, no questions asked.
  13. Some labour offices require it is done in a proper hospital with a Syphillis VDRL blood test result.
  14. Since the emergency decree the obligation is on the employer to notify the Labour department of your termination within 15 days or risk a 20K fine. There seems to be no obligation on the employee to cancel a work permit because I tried to cancel mine in April and I was turned away from the Labour office, they were not interested.. (Non-BOI)
  15. You are supposed to pay tax on the income thats why many landlord wont cooperate with tm30 or do a long term contract as it needs to be registered.
  16. I don't know about Laos but I have opened a Transferwise account using my address in Thailand, the only catch was I needed to form a UK limited company with address service for about 100 GBP, After opening the company transferwise account, I was permitted to add personal account with Thai address. No false declaration required and all above board.
