I can confirm that you can use a work permit in lieu of a residence permit, but you may be sent to labour department for a printout and a stamp. My local immigration told me it would take 2 weeks for residence permit, so I asked the DLT if anything I could do, and that was the solution. If you have a physical book rather than e-work permit maybe you won't need visit labour office. The licence will have company address and all this was done with WP In Bangkok and DLT office in Korat. (I visited Labour office in Korat for stamp, it wasn't even proper labour office, some migrant worker processing place) 2 mins and 20 baht

International Thai driving license driving in Japan
Satcommlee replied to mrmicbkktxl's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Previous poster did allude to the different conventions, There are three international conventions about IDPs (1926, 1949 and 1968), but if you're interested in driving in Japan, focus on the 1949 Geneva Convention. Japan only recognises the IDP format from this Convention. Japan doesn't accept IDPs from the 1968 convention. My IDP from Thailand is 1968 convention (So maybe you cannot drive in Japan) The convention is written on the front of the Thai IDP -
Mentioned on the Thai forums too but nobody had an answer for it.. I wonder if this is a hacking thing (like a company that sends thousands of these a day) and then they call you to send it back to a scammers "mule account" (not the one it came from). The low value and diverse spread of recipient numbers perhaps helping them fly under the radar for a while.

UK emergency visa for wife
Satcommlee replied to dayo202's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
If she has had a Visa before, she may be able to go for one of the super-priority services advertised on the VFS visa page. At that price things tend to be less urgent -
Nothing illegal, they are licenced in Thailand and the doctors are registered in Thailand. They are getting on the telemedicine bandwagon. It was delivered by Kerry, from a pharmacy in Bangkok.... 30 baht is very cheap, was paying 100 baht at BKK hospital. However, after online appointment and new prescription last night they told me "Zolpidem is currently out of stock and we are waiting for the restocking process from the Ministry of Public Health. The expected restocking process will start from August 2024 onwards." So maybe will end up going back to BKK hospital, but the concept is very good..

I'm adding to this topic because it comes up in Google search, I hope the information is useful to others... Dr Anywhere (telemedicine app) can provide Zolpidem at 30 baht per tablet, you must first consult with one of their Psychiatrists which costs 1500 Baht (quite expensive but you can't beat it for convenience) all done from your phone/tablet and the medicine will be provided by courier service. In my case, I uploaded referral letter and medical notes confirming long-term use of Zolpidem..... It is possible (and quite rightly) they may not be happy to prescribe this drug without first trying alternative options...

It is not weird, Goverment bank may be actively encouraging regular savings and the interest under this scheme may fall under a tax-exemption. I just locked 1 mil away for 10 months for my son with Krungsri at 2% with 1400 baht interest paid monthly. (This is a 'Special' as mentioned by previous poster)

Marry someone in a foreign country and claim a tax deduction, sounds too easy... Does tax residency not matter? -

Foreigners and their overseas income: what next?
Satcommlee replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This is the bit people should be worried about, people seem to think Dual Tax treaties exist so an individual can CHOOSE which rules to follow. Take a person living on an income just below the income tax threshold in Europe (perhaps a state pension) but this person is not in Europe! This person for tax purposes is resident in Thailand and his income is above the tax threshold in Thailand perhaps making him liable to pay tax in Thailand. Having paid no tax in Europe, he does not have anything to credit against his Thai Tax liability. Not intended to be a qualified response, but thought provocing all the same- 567 replies

Immigration says “fast-track service at Bangkok airports” are fakes
Satcommlee replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm pretty sure I did't 'imagine' being taken to the diplomatic counter instead of queuing 🙂 but it didn't cost 2900 LOL, somebody making a bit too much money, contracting it out for 1100 and not passing it on the rest.. -
Non Immigrant O to Non Immigrant B
Satcommlee replied to Jaunty's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'd personally stay on the non-O, unless you don't have 400K in the bank. -

Maybe you could ask them next time to write a note which you could hand over with your passport in future. May help them and you. -
