  1. They have to suspend it to sort it out, especially the continued abuse by private companies chaperoning people through the diplomatic channel which was quite a scandal a few months ago. EIther they want to monetise it properly, or increase the tea-money.. My credit card is apparently offering me Fast Trak at Suvarnabuhmi on arrival and departure when they introduce DragonPass in a few months..
  2. Then another 10 years on appeal, I don't think he's stressing
  3. Best advice so far, but do plan for the worst, don't get caught short when returns are due in March 2025, as late payment can be costly. Worst case for you on 80k a month would be 75K annual tax bill, payable in 3 x 25K installments March 25, April 25, May 25. Maybe a bit less if you have wife/kids/insurances. And of course a credit on proof of tax being paid in UK. I'm not saying this will be the case, but it is at least a worst case!
  4. I was gonna post British Embassy Number but then I came to my senses
  5. Cover the cvv (3 digits) on back of card with black tape, have you noticed how many vendors record this info when it is none of their business!
  6. This what my Allianz policy looks like.. I was charged extra based on being a fat smoker with a history of high cholesterol 🙂
  7. I'd find it more interesting in Tora Bora (Afghanistan)
  8. Try allianze (international) they may offer coverage with a loaded premium
  9. Up in Korat we used to get them while you wait, maybe 10 mins, it was an excellent service, they would even prepare your other documents and tell you everything you need to do... but some farangs complained about being charged a few hundred baht (but it is suppose to be free).. So now they put your name in a book and tell you to come back and it could be two weeks like in my case... Thank you Cheap-Charlies!!!!
  10. I can confirm that you can use a work permit in lieu of a residence permit, but you may be sent to labour department for a printout and a stamp. My local immigration told me it would take 2 weeks for residence permit, so I asked the DLT if anything I could do, and that was the solution. If you have a physical book rather than e-work permit maybe you won't need visit labour office. The licence will have company address and all this was done with WP In Bangkok and DLT office in Korat. (I visited Labour office in Korat for stamp, it wasn't even proper labour office, some migrant worker processing place) 2 mins and 20 baht
  11. Previous poster did allude to the different conventions, There are three international conventions about IDPs (1926, 1949 and 1968), but if you're interested in driving in Japan, focus on the 1949 Geneva Convention. Japan only recognises the IDP format from this Convention. Japan doesn't accept IDPs from the 1968 convention. My IDP from Thailand is 1968 convention (So maybe you cannot drive in Japan) The convention is written on the front of the Thai IDP
  12. Mentioned on the Thai forums too but nobody had an answer for it.. I wonder if this is a hacking thing (like a company that sends thousands of these a day) and then they call you to send it back to a scammers "mule account" (not the one it came from). The low value and diverse spread of recipient numbers perhaps helping them fly under the radar for a while.
  13. If she has had a Visa before, she may be able to go for one of the super-priority services advertised on the VFS visa page. At that price things tend to be less urgent
  14. Nothing illegal, they are licenced in Thailand and the doctors are registered in Thailand. They are getting on the telemedicine bandwagon. It was delivered by Kerry, from a pharmacy in Bangkok.... 30 baht is very cheap, was paying 100 baht at BKK hospital. However, after online appointment and new prescription last night they told me "Zolpidem is currently out of stock and we are waiting for the restocking process from the Ministry of Public Health. The expected restocking process will start from August 2024 onwards." So maybe will end up going back to BKK hospital, but the concept is very good..
  15. Pay your taxes guys, but pump 500K a year into an RMF fund which is tax deductable...
  16. I'm adding to this topic because it comes up in Google search, I hope the information is useful to others... Dr Anywhere (telemedicine app) can provide Zolpidem at 30 baht per tablet, you must first consult with one of their Psychiatrists which costs 1500 Baht (quite expensive but you can't beat it for convenience) all done from your phone/tablet and the medicine will be provided by courier service. In my case, I uploaded referral letter and medical notes confirming long-term use of Zolpidem..... It is possible (and quite rightly) they may not be happy to prescribe this drug without first trying alternative options...
  17. It is not weird, Goverment bank may be actively encouraging regular savings and the interest under this scheme may fall under a tax-exemption. I just locked 1 mil away for 10 months for my son with Krungsri at 2% with 1400 baht interest paid monthly. (This is a 'Special' as mentioned by previous poster)
  18. I didnt see a opportunity for this when flying THAI business last week (This is seperate area to other airlines fast-trak), but it does seem weirdl that rle-entry permit is after main immigration (main immigration+other airline fast trak)
  19. Marry someone in a foreign country and claim a tax deduction, sounds too easy... Does tax residency not matter?
  20. Are you saying immigration/visa proceedures are biased towards foreigners 🙂
  21. Had it like 30 years ago, dont drink with the meds.
  22. I also used mastercard recently on agoda, maybe it was a card network issue.
  23. This is the bit people should be worried about, people seem to think Dual Tax treaties exist so an individual can CHOOSE which rules to follow. Take a person living on an income just below the income tax threshold in Europe (perhaps a state pension) but this person is not in Europe! This person for tax purposes is resident in Thailand and his income is above the tax threshold in Thailand perhaps making him liable to pay tax in Thailand. Having paid no tax in Europe, he does not have anything to credit against his Thai Tax liability. Not intended to be a qualified response, but thought provocing all the same
