  4. Scoop:

I am not certain we are talking about the same village but here goes anyway.

I live some 40 kilometers west of Nong Bua Lamphu just off the Loei highway (Hgwy 210). Country road 3012 goes north off of 210 and there is a road sign at the intersection saying it is 22 kilometers to a village named "Ban Khok Nong Bua". That means this village is around 65 kilometers from Nong Bua Lamphu and would place it nearer to Loei than to Nong Bua Lamphu.

If you are going to this village there are NO educational facilities catering to farangs unless you should happen to find something in Loei.

I frankly cannot see how you can survive without some sort of transportation if this is the village you are talking about.

Hi Chuckd. thank you for that info, yes i think you are right thats where it is, on the map it does look closer to Loei, and the transport is a definate concern, i think a motorbike would help, but its still in the sticks, i was going to get an ed visa, but a language school seems too far away , i also think i will have to rent somewhere closer to a bigger town, but i really dont want to be in a big city, any sugestions?

  6. well does anyone know where in the pattaya or surrounding areas i can find metal halide and high pressure sodium lights, ive checked every lighting store in town and they dont have anything like that at all.... only high pressure mercury if thats a metal halide light as im not sure

Hi, kirkinpattaya, my advice to you is, High Pressure Sodium! is the best colour spectrum, the others are of a cooler colour spectrum and although they will work, they are not as good for flowering ,they are not as balanced as the HPS, pm me if you need any more help

  7. Hello Scoop1, sorry, I thought I was cought up on PM's.

Yes, I've been busy with the hydro and the dirt here.

I was trying to get 800 Lt of coir ordered and they couldn't

ship as they are S. of BKK, flooded and shipping is down.

Plan B.,dirt, the tractor guy couldn't come as he's harvesting

    cassava.

Will try to order coir again next week.

Here's the start of my limited tom growing this year, TP'ed

on Nov.11, and what they look like today. Still cleaning up

an area to move them to.

The chillies were my main growing item this season, not a

    Thai chili in sight.

    rice555

    ps, the tom's are OP

Hey Rice they are looking the goods what variety are they, my toms are at the moment 3mtrs tall and i have had to tie them down because they are out of control, i have 9 x tigerella's and they are the most prolific tomatoes , i have picked over 80kg so far!

  8. Hello Rice, Thanks. Unfortunately I don't get further west than Kalasin. The thumbnails will help. I can show to our local farm store. I'm growing chi faa chili. The local flower stand had them. I planted other kinds last year, but the nematodes got them. This year I poisoned them. I lost chilis, melons, tomato too last year from those little nasties. My green beans were eaten before the seed broke the surface. It's too bad that good granular insecticides like abamectin aren't available here. Still questing for calcium nitrate, any leads appreciated.

Hi, Hawaiiman, i have been talking to a guy at Wesco via email with my requirements for my hydro nutriens, he was so helpful, and knows his stuff his email is Veerapol Niyomthai <[email protected]>; he will have what you want

  9. In reading your post, I don't think anyone has addressed the basic problem you are faced with: you want to set up a hydroponic vegetable farm on her property. You need a work permit to do ANY work in Thailand, paid for or not. You won't be able to get a work permit to set up a business, unless you actually set up a Thai company, hire four workers for each work permit you require, and get a B (business) visa. On that basis you could stay here indefinitely, IF you continue to meet the business visa requirements..

If, as you state, you don't need a 'work visa', then what is your objection to a retirement visa? Or an extension of stay, based on retirement? If you are 50 years old or over, those would be your best options for long stay, assuming you don't work.

Otherwise, I'm afraid you have few options.

Hi Sateev, thank you for your information, i thought if i setup a hydroponic garden at her house, whats the problem? and she could do all the business stuff, if it ends up that way, to start with it will just be small so we can supply ourselves

whats your thoughts on this? i read a lot of people on tv that farm in thailand i dont think they have a work permits or business visa

    Cheers

  10. Your best short term solution would be a double entry tourist visa, Nong Bua Lam Phu is not that far from the Laotian border so crossing the border should not be too much of an inconvenience. If you decide to apply for retirement, the tourist visa can be converted to a Non-O and extended for retirement. The financial requirement stands, but no medical or police check. You can not work on either.

Lopburi3: correction noted and put in memory, all be it short!

Thank you, so if i get that visa, a double entry tourist visa. how long does it last, can i just keep getting it stamped every 90 days, for how longcan i keep doing this for, this what i dont understand

    Scoop1

To get the maximum time on one visa, you could get a triple entry tourist visa which is also valid for six months. If the visa is issued close to your departure date and you manage your extensions and two border crossings correctly you can get 260+ days. On the first entry you get 60 days permission to stay and then extend for 30 days at immigration in Thailand (1900 baht). On the last day of the extension exit and re-enter and you wiil get 60 days. Extend that for another 30 (1900 baht) Now you have to be careful! Even if the 30 day extension hasn't expired, the day before the VISA expires you must exit and re-enter Thailand. You will get 60 days and that can be extended for another 30 (1900 baht). When that extension expires you must leave and apply for a new visa. The cost of the initial visa is determined by the number of entries and the maximum is 3 and it is valid for entry 6 months from date of issue.

Does that mean i will have to return to Australia and get another visa or can i just go to a nearby country and get a new visa and start all over again?

    Cheers

  15. Hi all can someone give me some information and pricing on a water filter to do a whole house, my gf has informed me she has ordered a water filter from amway for 24,000tbt. i checked on their web site and it looks nothing more than a 1 tap drinking water filter, its called "espring" i have looked at whole house filters here in OZ and they are nowhere near that price, any one with any advice please, my thoughts were to buy a large water tank and a pump and filter it from there!

  16. Some breaking news from Australia, Alan Joyce has just grounded "ALL" Qantas internationaland and Domestic flights , because of on going industrial and all staff will be locked "INDEFINATLEY", its is unberlievable,!!!!

  17. Hello Scoop1, I forgot to ask you before, where in LOS

are you moving to? Bring your own tom seeds, western

type toms seed is hard to find here.

With all the rain we've been having here, I still have had

a steady supply of Early Jals to flavor my food.

Part of this years hydro & dirt garden, 18 more trays

    seeded yesterday.

    rice555

Hi Rice , i think i will end up somewhere near nong bua lamphu, , ban knok, where the GF is ,if you want i can send you some seeds from an organic grower here, i go there a fair bit " what ever you want, check out there website, www.greenpatchseeds.com.au, just let me know, its not to expensive to send via the post" i had a request from someone about sending, To Thailand, 5ltr of A and and 5ltr of B to help him get started , Fedex $420 wowwwww, for 11 kg weight, well i guess he will have to wait until i get there and set up, i checked the composition of the ACK stuff and i would not use it.

    cheers

There is a very good hydropnic shop at Chatuchak they have A & B nutients seeds and all. I find rocket lettuce grows easy. It is very expensive i Superma

Thanks Gamini, but i prefer to make and use my own, i know whats in it and it has been widely tested, and most of all it is perfectly balanced, and when i get to thailand i will probably prepare it and market it as a little business to keep me occupied, and someof the nutrients i have seen and read about in thailand, the concertrations of the particular fertilizers are way to high, a good nutrient is all about balance and not "more is better".

    cheers
