But if we rewind back to just April of this year when the government was roundly criticized for not shutting down the country for Songkran we can remind ourselves why being cautious is probably the right move.

All they have to do now is get do shut down & don't shut down in the correct order ................................LOL

claiming that most of them are not working due to lack of maintenance, that they are an eyesore, obstructions on footpaths,

If they are going to go down this road they will have heaps of work ahead of them, the footpaths here in Pattaya are a joke, uneven, trees & sign posts in them, electrical power boxes, and quite a few roads don't even have footpaths ...................LOL

They admitted being behind the consignment but claimed that they had no knowledge of the drugs.

That was the work of a Laotian man behind the export, they said.

Typical, it wasn't us !!! 446.8 kilos of heroin is quite a lot to know nothing about when they are partners in the Khok Yai Company wood export business, the Laotian man may have arranged the paperwork but who purchased the goods.

Owners need to be held responsible for the lack of maintenance on their vehicles...

There are way to many dangerous vehicles waiting for brake failure or to skid off the road in wet conditions....

Bald tyres anyone - The drivers cannot be blamed they are simply too feckless and have no voice, its is the owners who are solely responsible for allowing these vehicles out on the roads...

This vehicle was clearly not road legal before it left whichever yard or factory it left...

Nothing will be done, no one was killed, there is not enough netizen outrage to force an announcement of a ‘crack-down’ which of course wouldn’t take place anyway....  just like the yearly crack down on black smoke emitting vehicles.

Thailand is simply too juvenile and the vast majority will only recognise the amusing side of this not the potential horror of what could have been...
