  1. This was posted on their Facebook site today. Maybe you could try contacting them this way.

Dear all members if there is a problem in any payment experiences or suggestions, feedback, etc, please send name, address, or phone number and details to [email protected], which is the channel customer care team to coordinate. Manage to serve members in addition to the call center.

I tried this e-mail address and it came back undelivered !!

  2. I had mine installed 2 months ago but have heard nothing since. I don't even have a copy of the contract. I would like to cancel but can't even do that. Come back Truevisions all is forgiven.

  3. I had CTH installed about 2 months ago to check how it compared to my Truevisions set up. At 962 baht a month compared to the 1751 i was paying True i thought i might switch over to CTH. Since then i have not heard a word from CTH, i have no copy contract, no contract number, no communication whatsoever. My subscription is due but i don't know where to pay it or with what account number.

Apart from that there seems to be only 3 decent channels on CTH - Fox News, Fox Sports Plus and Fox Action Movies (with no thai subtitles) plus the football of course. The programme guide has no information at all on upcoming programmes and the remote seems to work with a built in 10 second delay.

Even with all its' faults Truevisions seems a better option and i'll probably stick with them. I will cancel CTH but i don't know who to tell !!

  4. I have thought about this long and hard for some time. It is all very well saying that you prefer to die at home than go through unpleasant treatments, but who knows how you will be feeling when you hear the dreaded C word? I'm not sure that it is all that easy to get hold of morphine for use at home.

Going to a public hospital is not my idea of fun. Worse than in the UK 50 years ago, not clean, dependent on family to keep you clean and fed on something else than rice soup, and I have been told that you are still expected to pay for your medicines, otherwise they let you rot there, as they tend to do with Thais anyway. You can rent a private room for ฿600.- a day.

I went to a private hospital locally (Buriram) that seemed a lot better run and have much shorter waiting times than at the public (6 hours or more) and did the necessary to get a card from them. They have my address, a few health details, realise that I am not an unserious Farang that is trying to exploit the system.

I have a cheap Thai insurance that I had to conclude before the age of 65, am saving ฿6600.- a month as self insurance and have the possibility of going back home for treatment.

I've had the "dreaded C", and the thought of going through all that again is more horrifying than dying.

I'd go home though, as I understand getting morphine in LOS is very difficult, and I wouldn't like to die like that.

< I'm not sure that it is all that easy to get hold of morphine for use at home. > I wouldn't like to die at home, much prefer a hospital. I can imagine my poor wife trying to take care of my large bulk and that's something I wouldn't inflict on her under any circumstance.

If you come from the UK and have been living outside the country for a certain length of time, you will only get emergency care when you step off the plane, not long term curative treatment. You are supposed to be living in the country to get full service.

This is not correct. If you step off the plane and state you intend to resume permanent residence you are entitled to full NHS treatment.

  5. Bought my N-9000 N3 last week, very happy with it, great screen. I don't think the quality of the back is an issue. I quite like it but it went straight into a case anyway.

There has been a lot of talk on the web about the region locking, mainly from Europe where they sell the N-9005. Conflicting reports on whether the phone is region locked even if you start it with the correct regional SIM. Does anyone know if an asian N-9000 (started with an asian SIM) can be used in another continent with a local SIM there. I don't travel that much so it's not a big issue for me but interesting to know. If the phones are locked i can see Samsung losing a lot of sales from Europe/USA.

  6. I recently bought one it's a N900, i presume without 4G. But then i don't even use 3G so not an issue for me.

Some people may have read a lot of problems from people thinking the N3s are region blocked so if say you buy one in Europe you can't use US or Asian SIMs. One other version (from Samsung) is that so long as you activate the N3 for the first time with a SIM from the same region it can be used worldwide. Anyone know the truth. Can Asian N3s be used with other regional SIMs?

Apart from all that it's a great phone.

  7. I see this happening more and more. I buy something from a shelf at an quoted price then find that i am charged more at the check out. It is always MORE i can't ever recall it being less so find it hard to believe these are "mistakes". It tends to be when they have a "special offer" with a reduced price on the ticket but no one obviously has changed the price in the computer.

  8. I like the idea of banking your $8000. Medical costs here are much more reasonable than in the West, and that 8k would go a long way. Most policies either won't take you or else charge you greatly for any pre-existing condition, and make that condition an exclusion in your policy.

But, what do any of us know? All you can do to find out is ask a few agents.

It might go a long way but it might not go all the way. I'm looking for Thai or Itnl. insurance since my US insurer does cover anything other than emergency care. Now I'm wondering about the new Affordable Care Act...

    Try LMG Pacific.

You might also speak to Admin. at your local government hospital about the new health scheme for foreigners.

Sorry but what is the new health scheme for foreigners ?

  9. Just out of interest, have any of you guys who rely on savings ever enquired into the cost of cancer treatment. It would be interesting to know how your nest eggs measure up to whatever the figure might be.

For those that never had cancer, personally, I'd rather let nature take it's course ( with sufficient morphine to take the pain away ) than go through the hell on earth of treatment again. Sometimes it's really not worth it.

Agreed. It seems that very few people survive cancer anyway. You spend big money, go through a lot of hardship and still end up dead. All the money (or insurance) in the world doesn't help (look at Steve Jobs) etc).

  10. I have the 3bb service and in the main it is fine. The speed to the BKK server is usually 10mbps which is what i signed up for but the link to Europe is often less than this. I am using the (cheap) modem they gave me as part of the deal. I often wonder if it is worth buying myself a better quality modem. Would that give me more consistent, faster results or is it a waste of money?

  11. I'm looking for a decent chair as well. I bought one a few months back from Home Works near Big C South. It was great at first, very comfortable, cost @ 4,000 baht. Since then though the covering (which is obviously plastic) has been slowly peeling off in very small pieces so every day my floor is covered in tiny black plastic strips. Driving me crazy so it will have to go but i don't want the same thing to happen. How can you tell if the chair is leather as opposed to plastic. Ask the salesman? but then we all know they will say anything to get a sale.

  12. Inflation in Thailand has only been around 3% per year---assuming you only buy the government's basket of goods they use to determine inflation and assuming you go to the same places to buy your goods the govt uses to check pricing of their basket of goods. But in all seriousness, many food prices ( unprepared and prepared) have underwent some big increases over the last couple of years....that's what you will hear most Thai's talk about when talking price increases. For farangs who generally have good income most have noticed the price increases but their pocketbook can afford the increases which can in turn make them less likely to really notice the inflation; but for most Thai's making around 10-15K baht per month (or significantly less), the inflation has been really hard on them.

These Government inflation quotes are just a joke (like the UK) prices are rising much faster than 3%. Beer has just gone up 20% in Pattaya. A lot of my regular purchases go up 10% + every few months.

  13. I have an LG and love it, had no problems over several years. If you want 3D LG is the best as they are they only ones with a passive system. I think LED is better and why not go fora bigger screen 40 in now is too small.
