A lot of people getting on at Bearing are currently shuttling in on Songtaews and the like from Samrong and beyond, shouldn't make too much difference adding one extra station.
They will definitely need more rolling stock out there once they are going all the way to Samut Prakan and back.
Exactly as I explained in my article I wrote in the Big Chilli Magazine. they are shuttling to Bearing from Samrong. the extra 4-car trains will be delivered starting 2018 when they open the rest of the extension. Overcrowding is only caused by an unexpected surge in passengers that have not been predicted by the central computer. The computer works out the number of trains required at any one time from past history, time of day, special event etc and can increase the train intervals from say 5 minutes off peak to 75seconds between trains. The BTS is currently carrying nearly 800,000 passengers/day during the week.

And it will stay that way when the government will not allow projects to be subdivided to enable smaller companies to bid - recent train projects are a case in point where the Prayut government consolidated all the projects into one. The problem of a few major companies monopolizing projects is that there is greater potential for collusion among the few bidders themselves (ie., price fixing) and with the government (ie., kickbacks), and the government favoring companies through nepotism as is more likely to occur within big companies.
There are a lot of contracts sub-divided by the Government, for instance, the Orange Line.

I went to the Thai tax office and they still have my records from when I worked here years ago. They told me that as I was retired and on a pension from the UK, they were not interested in myself declaring pension income for Thai tax purposes. I pension is no longer taxed by the UK either.

I caught the same infection following a scratch caused by the video on demand box under the seat in front of me on a Thai Airways flight to Brisbane. The hospital in Coolangata decided that I was allergic to Penicillin and gave me Erythromycin and my the flesh eating bacteria were running riot so they said that they might have to cut my leg off. I insisted on Amoxicillin and it got slowly better. This is a dangerous disease and if your Doctors are not up to date on the latest antibiotic treatment you could lose your legs or even die from toxic shock. Cost me B1 Million for I.C.U. treatment.

When the lights were working at the same crossing located near where the photo was taken, no vehicles would ever stop. So instead of enforcing the law, they have turned the lights off!

"TRUE MISERY - anybody been given 3 days to change to fiber or maybe lose internet connection?"
I remember having a few leaflets drop into my letter box offering me cable TV with True Internet, but I was not interested. One morning they cut the ADSL without warning and I lost my internet connection. I telephoned them and they told me I had agreed to change to True Cable Internet/TV package, which was completely untrue. They also told me that I had no choice and that I had to wait a week for them to install the fibre internet connection. After complaining, they installed it 2 days later. The speed sometimes is very fast and other times downloads seem to be blocked by them at peak times so it is still a case of "True Misery".

If you read the numerous complaints by customers over the last 5 years on Trip Advisor, you would realize that this hotel has a terrible reputation for maintenance, cleanliness and couldn't care less staff. Having been involved in lift maintenance I can tell you that there is no way that a well maintained lift could have plunged seven floors without the emergency brake flying out and arresting its descent.

That was a raid because of reported illegal offences taking place .
Nothing to do with simply being foreigners .
The RTP target people suspected of doing something illegal .
The RTP dont round up groups of foreigners for no reason at all , which is something that the OP stated
I live in that area have witnessed the raids and talk to these people so I know what is going on. They round up groups of foreigners simply because they are in a group of foreigners that fit a profile. Most recently was the round up of Mainland Chinese in the Srinakarin Seacon Square are and this led to the arrest of the owners of OA Transport running a zero dollar holiday scam. They were targeted because they were taking business away from the higher priced hotels. The Chinese are now back and business is picking up again. Several groups of Koreans were also targeted in this area and led to the arrest of some of the local B.I.B. who were also involved. Rider Resort was mentioned in the BP. Niran Residences and the Market area in front is regularly raided and people who do not look Thai are rounded up for a shake down. Indians are rounded up from time to time suspected of running illegal money lending in the area but many of the old timers have Thai residency so they are soon back. The Pakistani Christian Refugees are targeted in regular round ups and taken to prison, the UNHCR in Thailand do nothing to protect these people who I have seen bear the scars of axe and knife attacks as well as burns from being tortured by Pakistani extremists. Then there are the boiler room scum of the earth who are mainly white European, American and Australian criminals who are known to operate in certain areas of Bangkok, Changmai and Pattaya. Some of the people I have met were involved in these boiler rooms and online football pools. Raids have been carried out from time to time rounding up these people and if you happen to be in a bar with them you could get arrested by the police as a suspect.

You cannot apply for a retirement visa within the country.
I have never seen a immigration application form that asked if you had any criminal convictions.
The form is TM87 (Application for Visa) and you have to fill in under "reason": "Retirement". Cost is still B2000 and is issued in Country by Thai Immigration and stamped in Thai language "For retirement". There is no requirement on the form for entering criminal convictions, or proof of address in Thailand. My original Visa issued by Thai Immigration in Bangkok, was stamped "Visa: Non-O" but ever since they refer to the original Visa on which my retirement extensions are based as" Visa: Non-RE".
This Visa (Non-RE) on the basis of Retirement can be applied for at Thai Immigration Division 1 Bangkok after you enter on a 30 day exemption tourist visa following the current rules and regulations that are also published on the Thai Immigration web site: http://www.immigration.go.th/

Yes, Its quite unheard of for a group random foreigners to all be rounded up and taken into custody for no reason .
The only thing that makes sense , is that his group was suspected of doing something illegal .
I do recall a case from 2012 ish , where a group of Chinese based people got caught working online , teaching English .
Maybe the O.P could give more details about all the other foreigners who got rounded up and deported .
It happens regularly all over Bangkok and even more regularly since 2010. They especially target Africans, Pakistani Christian refugees, Cambodians, Vietnamese, Burmese and more recently Koreans and Chinese. They raid the apartments and churches where the Africans, Pakistani Christians live as they stand out more due to the colour of their skin. Noticeably, the Nigerians are back in town building up their numbers so we are due for another major raid sooner or later.

Been with Bangkok Bank since 1994 and used their internet banking since it first started even when I was on a 30 day visa free entry as I was working abroad. The key was that I had a savings account here so they gave me internet banking. Never had a problem with it and I use it 24/7 to pay bills, the children's university fees etc. With Bangkok Bank, transfers to other accounts held at Bangkok Bank Bangkok, such as my wife and children, are still free.

I recently read on another thread that older accounts could be closed automatically. I was worried because i have a very old account with KTB that has circa 10K in it. I visited a local branch the other day (not the branch that it was opened at) and the manager told me no worries.
Has anyone had an account closed automatically by a bank. And what were the circumstances?
Yes, they will close them automatically without informing you after a certain time. To reopen them you have to deposit a nominal sum, say B100, and then you can either continue to use the account or close it and withdraw all the cash.

Everything depends how much you want to pay and what time of day. I used to do this journey in the rush hour, every day before the Airport Link, BTS, Purple and Blue Line were built. I used the old conventional SRT railway from Ladkrabang (cost 5Baht) to Phayathai halt and walked up the road to Victory monument where I caught a passenger van to Nonthaburi (around B15). These vans are now located at Morchit Bus Terminal, and go up the motorway to Nonthaburi. If I was doing it now I would use the Purple Line then Blue line and Citi Link (Airport express trains still not running). The motorways at rush hour are just like one big car park.

Trump, who in his first weeks in office has tried to tighten U.S. borders sharply for national security reasons, told a rally on Saturday that Sweden was having serious problems with immigrants. "You look at what's happening last night in Sweden," Trump said. "Sweden. Who would believe this? Sweden. They took in large numbers. They're having problems like they never thought possible."
No incident occurred in Sweden and the country's baffled government asked the U.S. State Department to explain. Sweden's crime rate has fallen since 2005, official statistics show, even as it has taken in hundreds of thousands of immigrants from war-torn countries like Syria and Iraq. Trump and his extreme right wing supporters have been widely criticized for making assertions with little or no supporting evidence.
Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom appeared to respond to Trump on Saturday by posting on Twitter an excerpt of a speech in which she said democracy and diplomacy "require us to respect science, facts and the media." Her predecessor was less circumspect.
"Sweden? Terror attack? What has he been smoking? Questions abound," former Foreign Minister Carl Bildt wrote on Twitter.
Other Swedes mocked Trump by posting pictures of reindeer, meatballs and people assembling IKEA furniture.

I think you will find that it all depends upon your home country, luckily there is a Bangkok Bank in London that you can transfer money through from your UK bank. No embassy letter etc. needed, and the bank is use to handling UK customers.
He wants to open a Time Deposit B400K for extension of stay at Thai immigration. I have a Bangkok Bank account in London where my State Pension is paid into but that cannot be used for immigration purposes as the funds are transferred to your normal Bangkok bank account in Thailand.

You do not have to produce an embassy reference letter. I am on a retirement extension and I opened a time deposit account with B800,000. Most of the staff never seem to know the rules and are scared to make a mistake so refusal is their first option. Best to print a copy of the Bank's rules off the Bank's web site and ask to speak to the manager if there is a problem. The problem with the Embassy, is that they will often ask for proof of address from your bank and the bank will ask for proof of address from your bank before issuing a reference letter to your bank. Below is the actual list of documents that are on the Bangkok Bank's web site. It asks for a reference letter from ONE of the bullet pointed methods on the list. I was accepted just as a "person acceptable to the branch officer", having known the Bank Manager for the past 23 years. If you are on a pension they should accept your Pension Statement and/or HM Pensions or other Pension provider and P60 Tax certificate which is official and has your Thailand address.

A letter of reference from one of the following:
- Embassy or international organization
- An official document from another country, such as a document from the relevant agency giving evidence of the customer’s right to receive pension funds
- Customer’s home bank to Bangkok Bank via the SWIFT messaging network
- Person acceptable to Bangkok Bank e.g. branch officer, customer, government officer or company executive
- Educational institution located in Thailand and acceptable to the bank
- Company that is acceptable to the bank, confirming the customer is in the process of getting a work permit
- Other documents that show the name of the customer e.g. a document showing the ownership of real estate in Thailand such as a unit in a condominium

So a few power cables will be buried whilst the hundreds of fibre optic cables will remain there in the spaghetti jungle!
I'm thinking it's getting too late for the telcos to untangle this mess, country wide. AND it gets worse every day!
You haven't been following the previous news on this work. The MEA in Bangkok and the PEA in these cities will be responsible for relocating all electrical power cables below ground in ducts. They will also lay ducts along side for the fibre optic and telephone cables. The installation in Bangkok has already started.

The difference is that projects have been delayed due to previous changes of government. This government is not going to hold elections until all Infrastructure projects contracts have been awarded.

I assume you have a wall mounted Hatari Fan like I have. When the fan sticks, I just spray the bearing with WD40 or similar using the fine nozzle directly between the rotor and bearing point and then it works no problem. Do not spray the windings with contact cleaner as suggested above.
It is not worth getting them repaired as a new one is very cheap.
