Thailand's health care system has been ranked among the best in the world, according to CEO WORLD magazine's Health Care Index.
The Health Care Index, which ranks 89 countries according to factors that contribute to overall health, ranked Thailand's health care system in 13th place with an overall score of 59.52.
Thailand was ranked higher than countries such as Norway (15th), New Zealand (16th), Germany (17th), Switzerland (18th) and the United States (30th).
Thailand's score also ranked its healthcare system the best in ASEAN, followed by Singapore (24th), Malaysia (34th), the Philippines (38th), Indonesia (52nd), and Vietnam (66th).
Of the 89 countries surveyed, South Korea’s healthcare comes in 1st place in the ranking scoring 78.72 out of 100 on the Health Care Index. At the opposite end of the spectrum, with a score of 33.42, Venezuela top the list of the countries with the worst health care systems for 2021.
According to CEO World, the Health Care Index is a statistical analysis of the overall quality of the health care system, including health care infrastructure; health care professionals (doctors, nursing staff, and other health workers) competencies; cost (USD p.a.per capita); quality medicine availability, and government readiness.
It also takes into consideration other factors including, environmental, access to clean water, sanitation, government readiness on imposing penalties on risks such as tobacco use, and obesity.
The ranking looks at 89 countries around the world on five different health variables.

Thailand on Sunday reported 10,863 new COVID-19 cases, 10,383 recoveries and 68 more deaths.
The new cases continue the stabilizing trend of infections, which health officials say are the result of an acceleration of Thailand's vaccination program in addition to the preventative measures put in place earlier this year.
Sunday's cases bring the total number of infections to more than 1.78 million while the total of recoveries stand at 1.65 million. There have been 18, 273 deaths, according to the Ministry of Public Health.
Meanwhile, more than 62 million vaccine doses have been administered in Thailand to date, with over 50 percent of the population having received at least one vaccine dose. Just over 34 percent of the population have received two doses.
Thailand is currently stepping up the vaccine rollout to students aged between 12 and 18 in a bid to resume in-class learning from November, which is when the second school term would typically begin.
Earlier the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said it aims for 70 percent of the population to have received at least one vaccine dose by November, and 70 percent of the population to be fully vaccinated by the end of 2021.
Last week, the CCSA announced an easing of restrictions of across Thailand.
The Thai government also confirmed its plan to waive quarantine for fully vaccinated foreign tourists from a number of countries deemed to be low risk.

A group of about 20 dedicated teachers and volunteers braved four hours of rain, mud and flooded dirt roads in Thungyai Naresuan wildlife sanctuary, in Thailand’s western province of Kanchanaburi, to deliver milk to 55 children at a remote school.
Although the Ban Koh Sadoeng School is only about ten kilometres from its parent school, Ban Kong Mongtha, the journey is treacherous, especially during the rainy season when the only dirt road to the remote school turns muddy and floods in several areas.
The riskiest section of the journey is the rickety bamboo bridge over a rushing creek, which is wide enough for just one motorcycle to pass at a time. One bad mistake can send both the motorbike and rider into the creek, to be swept away by the strong currents.
