Price for the new face lift model?
-
Why should it be the other way around???seems like the bad bahaving nigerians get an entire cell to themselves <deleted> ??
and the thai guys and farangs are all huddled together nearly sleeping on top of each other .....
should it not be the other way around ?
the model prisoners get herded together like sheep
the nigerian ones who fight ,are violent and break the rules get to live in relative luxury and can spread out easily in their own private cell
sounds fair to me ........
You know nothing, the Thais and foreigners are seperated. Beleive me I have been to the jail on visits many times.
the different nationalities stick together. Yes there are a lot of Nigerians
getting less harsh treatment, or preffencial treatment is possible, but you need money, and all of that has to go through the guards.
You want decent food, no problem you pay, you want a TV no problem, buy one for the guards as well, you want a mattress to sleep on, the guards have a mark up price for that. You want cigarettes, booze, ganga, something harder all possible and not taht expensive
As said I have two friends who for their own stupidity ended up in the monkey house.
IT IS NOT A PICNIC......avoid at all costs, if ever caught for some offence deal with it as early as possible and get out the country ( both friends had sentanced reduced upon large payments of THB ) both left and have been back since.....

There must be a number of experts out there in fields such as law, plumbing, electricians, gardners, IT, cars etc.
ask an expert on line, is one way perhaps which might work for those people who want to earn a little extra.
You register your skills, people email you, a quote is given for advice, they accept or reject and then you advise and hey presto money in the bank.
I have used the service before happy with it.
Might be a way for some of the older members to supplement their income.
Yes it might be classed as work, but it is all via the web,
Just a thought

Two friends of mine have been there, both guilty.
It is not good, I have seen the court system, the corruption, etc. Life in jail is easier for foreigners, a lot worse for Thais.

Sad story condolences:
Woman "My <deleted> of an uzband ere lost our money and credit cards last night while he woz pi**ed"
Embassy staff "And how may I help you madam",
woman "well can I get a new husband, preferably one with cash and a credit card on his possesion"?
Embassy "I am sorry madam we are unable to do that",
woman " welll the phone was lost too, can you contact our bank/brother so they can wire some money to us"
Embassy"Lets see what we can do"
They are not bank, social security service, medical insurance company nor lawyers on standby.
I would be surprised if they had not offered to contact relatives in UK for this poor man that is about all they can do.
Did they react well in the tsunami, or Katarina absolutely NOT, and that is shameful, and the staff, especially the ambassador and his aides willl have those incidents on their records and conscious till their deaths.
Clearly this guy had been sick a while, and in Thailand a while as well, how did it take so long for him to find out he was not covered by local insurance?
tests in January, why did he choose to remain till now?
Full kudos for those expats and locals who tried to improve his situation, but without more facts it seems his situation was very much self induced, and the consulate could not have done very much more

Ugnich you need to check legal requirements for taking motorbike across borders, don't just turn up and think that you will be allowed to take a MC without relevent paperwork. It can be a lot of hassle. Also make sure you have insurance.
Good luck and go for it

I'd gladly give up my pension, provided they pay me back all my NI contribution.
+1
On that subject does anyone out there know exactly how many years contributions have to be complete for a full pension?
I've been told two different stories, one, twenty five tears and two, changed to 15 years to make the time same for women and men , the old equality thing,
Serious question looking for serious answer ( on thaivisa ) ?
Serious answer 30 years, so that is a huge improvement.
You can contact UK to find out how many full years you have, and it may be possible/beneficial to pay additional back contributions. you need teh details and to do teh maths and decide how long yu anticipate living

Most probably someone you know gave him your number, that is one of the ways they operate.
When I lived in BKK in the 90's I was forever being contacted by "independent financial advisors " used to take delight in setting up a meeting on a friday afternoon somewhere in the middle of nowhere, make it a beleivable address, but wrong house number, when they phone and can't find, tell them you are delayed at work and reschedule for Sunday morning at 7 AM, when they phone again tell them you are just finishing golf practice and will be there shortly, please wait, they will phone again to check where you are. See how long you can get them to wait, BUT they will get the message eventually

Fines for stopping to talk with friends immediately after they step off an escalator
Pavements are for pedestrians not a free market extension of shop and its' wares
Red lights mean STOP
You don't have to chase young kids around trying to force feed them, sit them down if they are hungry they learn to stay seated
Offer in Taxi's a card where the driver calls and can translate other languages to Thai
A rubbish bin on every corner - would be nice, while we are at it would be good if 7/11 empties the ones outside their stores more often
Bicycle lanes
Remove the limitation on hours when alchohol can be bought in shop
Stop sending policemen to "inactive postings"
OK all pipedreams, but one which would really benefit. As per the system in Taiwan, have all stores with a cash register linked to a central server system, so that each receipt is given a unique lottery number ( no extra charge ) each month a 50 million Baht jackpot plus smaller prizes, all paid for by the tax department who now have records and collect requisite tax from those shops.
The state wins and the individual winners of the lottery. Those who do not buy a POS machine linked in to system lose business as people do not get a chance to participate in the free lottery. A great system which would really benefot Thailand and its' people short and long term

Best advice sell the Duc and Buick, you will never see them again Buy something to replace them in Thailand, the ducati is easy, Buick almost no chance, but there are other collectables about if you are prepared to spend money to restore

Best Japanese I have had recently was not unfortunately in CM. Was in Jakarta at Marriott hotel. So one for you travellers to note .
Monkfish liver, Kobe beef, a selection of whatever sushi/sashimi the chef recomended, Live lobster sashami, ( Its antennae were stil moving on the plate ) selection of yakitori, some great sake.
Only problem was the 500 USD bill at the end of the day - stil what the hell it is the best in Jakarta and was our last week there

Go to Fuji Supermarket in BKK when you next pass through. They import from Tsukiji twice a week I think, Learn how to cook sushi rice, it is not difficult, learn Japanese omelette ( it is different ) Buy Nori, some salmon eggs, some ginger and some japanese pickles and whatever selection of fish takes your fancy.
Make enough rice for 6 people, invite your friends over and have them self assembly their own rolls. Do this one quite often and is always good fun. Add in a bottle of sake and a good time will be had by all

What if some farmer in your area decides to sell his 100 rai of land for 5K per square wah (don't know the English equivalent) But you paid 8-10K for yours.
It would NEVER happen, Thais have an attitude that if a neigbouring peice of land was sold for 8k then his is worth at least as much and more. They would never sell for less.
Regardless of the condition of that land, or advantages it may have ( access, electricity, view etc)

Australia for food,
NZ for nature,
France for wine and Paris,
Thailand for lifestyle and relative cheapness,
Bangladesh SUCKs
Indonesia for golf,
Malaysia for diversity,
BUT overall give me Japan, great food, friendly people, great scenary, great roads for MC, and cheap MC too, good fishing, honesty, polite, and if you know what you are doing does not have to be that expensive, and taxes are LOW
