  1. Lived in both Thailand and Japan a number of years, the ex-wife is a Thai the current one Japanese.

Japan does not need to be as expensive as many would think, but if you are a party animal then the prices will kill you.

Learn the language, you will get nowhere without it.

Quality of life and service are second to nowhere else in the world, but that comes with a cost.

If you have no other job, then relatively easy I hear to get a job teaching English, and 3-3500 USD a month is possible.

Stay away from Roppongi ( I had a detached house there for 4 years - BUT I could afford it at the time ) It is party central ( among a few other places also.

    good luck

  2. Love it and the smell I do not find offensive..... Leave the smell alone

makes great yoghurt shakes first thing in the morning.

    Mong Tong is the best

  3. Make sure you get them private language tutors for Chinese, that will be a great long term investment, and they will need it.

Japanese is another good option, I know several Thais who did their PhD in Japan and it opened lots of doors. ( lots of sponsorship available with teh right academic qualifications )

Teach them to sail, ski and ride a horse - that was the only thing the old my insisted of us kids and was good advice.

Make sure you feed them healthily and teach them the value of money and saving, even at the earliest of years.

  4. Not in Thailand, but whilst living in Vietnam, I lent an expat some money for his rent, of course never returned.

Now what I am about to say I do not expect anyone to do however:

After several years the guy had got married and was still refusing to pay.

Well some swiftly generated new emails, signed them both up to AFF with various "kinky attitudes" and contact details.

Had them selling cars, fridges, and all manner of other goods on notice boards which I am sure got them lots of phone calls, for all "The Bargains"

SMS from skype at all hours of the day and night for weeks.

Did not help get the money back, but I am sure the amount of hassle they had was well worth it.

If I had known someone who would have broke there legs for a fee I would have done that too

  5. CJ opened in Indonesia a year or so ago, the beef was a serious let down compared to good ol USA so I suspect local beef being used in Thailand as well.

Overpriced and rely on their reputation in USA ( which is deserved and good ) not followed through on the quality

    • Lets start a petition to Tesco UK demanding standardisation .........wait a minute if they get an increase in Jam in the UK dougnuts, would we be entitled to demand they increase here?.......now where is my UK MP's telephone number.

  6. Get her to insisit on the NI number and record of payments.

Report it, it is this willingness to accept lower than applicable law wages which is contributing to the damage of the social welfare system, loss of jobs high unemployment, ecconomic migrants.

That loss of revenue reflects directly on teh governments ability to fund other benefits, ( Freezing rate of pension for expat pensioners included {NOT ME before you rant} medical services, etc )

If she does not complain then you should

  7. Red ants...... aghh.

So a few years back, when I resided in BKK, I was lying on the bed after having taken a shower, naked whilst watching TV.

All of a sudden the John Thomas is hit with a stinging feeling, and a scream by me which matched the pain.

The GF comes rushing in to witness the farang wacking his willy, shouting "<deleted>, <deleted>, she looks on astonished.

" you want to <deleted>" astonished looks "No just get me some ice" more astonished looks " You don't want <deleted> " damm it "not now, just get me some ice and kill the red ants will you"

    It HURTS

  8. At his age, I spent all my money on booze, drugs and women.......and wasted all the rest

at age 29 ,the women should be free or your doing something wrong..... smile.png

The first divorce did not come cheapsad.png

  9. 29 years old and already has 130kUSD cash. Does not sound too much like a fool to me.

The OP never mentioned if he had additional income from working, trust other investments, so all of this back and forth do it dont do it is financial advice without understanding his entire financial situation.Further information is required.

If he can amass 130 kUSD at his age, and I ask how many of you had that at 29 ( cash not tied in property, pensions, investments ) then he is doing well.

130kUSD is sufficient to invest and grow.

If on the other hand that is all he has and he expects to sit on a beach forever, then it will be a big struggle, if not impossible. never the less a great adventure, and he could make it last a few years

just need to get the bait right to reel in a big one.

Timing is everything, , wait for a nibble, strike and reel that sucker in.

  11. 130kUSD, annuity lifetime, probably 600+ USD a month, but no inflation, nearer to 400 a month with inflation adjusted.

    Secondary Market annuity more

Berkshire Hathaway 8% for 30years, total payout close to a million dollars

    http://www.totalretu...-offerings.html

Are these rates legit, are they fixed? Is the capital insured?

I am very interested in finding more about how these annuity's work, and which firms are best and reputable??? Does any ave more info this

Like the type of investing, in stepped and phases, so they mature a different time?

    Thanks

Annuities can be fixed term, a few years, many years or lifetime

Can cover one or two people,

can be paid monthly, every two month, quarter or yearly

    Lifetime can include inflation payments,

    deffered payments

Better payouts if you are a smoker, or have a recognised illness.

There are many variables and many options, you need to research and find the best and most suitable, the payments vary considerably.

Plenty of information on the web, but RESEARCH is the key. I am sure there are more experts here that post than I .

But are they legal YES 100%, Berkshire Hathaway is run by the smartest financial brains on the planet bar none IMHO
