  1. Rolex have a MRSP, ( along with all the other brands in the group)

That minimum price is a global number with only the VAT changing. Note this is a minimum price, and in Thailand there is a premium for the brand, so expect MRSP +

Below the MRSP no official Rolex dealer is allowed to sell below, and if they do and are caught they will lose their official dealer status.

Now lets discuss a bit about copies, without doubt the very best I have seen were in Taiwan, and not particularly cheap, think in hundreds of USD for the very best copies.

As to second hand, some of the most discounted second hand watches I found in Japan ( you are VERY unlikely to find fakes - as if caught arrest is guaranteed )

I am not a huge Rolex fan, but bought the missus a very nice Corum, cost new 680 000 JPY, second hand with papers and box and 6 month guarantee 140 000 JPY.

YES YES YES I know that Japan is not Thailand, but would be my recommendation for second hand watches.

Alternatively look at the multitude of collector auctions in UK and other places and consider perhaps an older timepiece, some of the earlier Rolex are much cheaper than you think. I picked up an early model, needing winder, glass replacement and strap ( as well as service ) many moons ago for something like 120GBP. Using a Non-official Rolex repairer, all sorted for less than 200 more. ( OK got lucky on that one)

    Define adult?

    Voting age?

    Drinking Age?

    Drive a car?

    Age of sexual consent?

It is up to each country to set their own laws, there is no "Global mandate" that says it is 18

How old to by alcohol in US?

How old to drive a car is US?

    Sexual consent in Japan?

    Sexual consent in UK?

It is a minefield, and up to each country, 18 years old is your own perception, what makes your view correct?

If an 18 year old has a valid passport and is simply connecting from BKK then why was she stopped by Thai Immigration?  Bangkopost as an interesting article and lays the blame on TI.

Passports belong to the state which issued them, and can be revoked by them at the desire.

In order to enter Australia she would have required a valid visa ( on line application for most countries, I am not sure about Saudi ) This would have need to be checked by the airline transporting her to Australia ( or face fine ) on the final leg.

The real question is who in the Thai emigration allowed the Saudi diplomats to access the airport?

If The Saudi authorities had requested and told Thailand that the passport was revoked, they would have had no choice but to hold her passport, she is effectively without travel documents, thus the Thai  authorities only choice would have been to return her on the next flight to where she arrived.

This is not an easy case and she has done well to avoid repatriation. Well done social media and the press.

This will definitely cause problems now between Australia and Saudi relationships, so watch out for the fall out

  4. If you have a UK licence, most rentals require:

Confirmation from DVLA of number of points, which needs to be done online before you rent. It can be done at the rental but then you have to pay extra.

Additionally two proof of address on your DL address ( utility bills )

If you use a foreign licence ( Thai in your case ) the above is not needed, however in principal if you get pulled by the police and present the Thai licence, then they could potentially hold you until the case is heard in court ( In general unlikely but it depends on the arresting officer )

  5. Not having visited for a few years, Can anyone recommend a tailor in Bangkok.

When I last lived there I used to go to a place on the corner of Nana plaza, on the right as you go in. I cannot remember the name, is it still there? or anyone know where they moved to?

Or anyone any personal recommendation for suits?

  6. Turmoil,

    Ups,

    Downs,

    Doom,

    Gloom,

    Joy,

    Parties,

They either become regulated or die.

For everyone who paid 20k for a random number spread over the internet, not so good.

Now Blockchain technology, a very bright future , But <deleted> would the banks in the world pay excess for that technology when they can build it themselves.......Oh they already are

  7. Search online for CDW excess. I pay 45 GBP for one year on rental cars world wide excluding USA. Including USA is more expensive but not that much.

I have claimed on it twice with no issues, only downside, pay first claim back after.

In UK it is 7-10 GBP a day, through most hire car agencies you would have to be nits to pay that. Sire they will try and get you to buy it just take out the one year and tell them to whistle

  8. 10 years minimum, 35 years for full SP.

Log onto the website you will need NI number and your number in Thailand where they will send an access code, takes about 10 minutes.

    You can get a forecast

You can only pay class 2 if UK was the last place you worked if not then class 3 apply, much more expensive but still good value.

The UK Gov are trying to stop class 2 so if you can pay these it is very worthwhile, do it and do it now.

What is your age? you can still pay if you are under retirement age ( also get the date when you can draw your pension )

Every year  you delay taking any SP you can claim the pension will go up by about 5.6 per cent

Bear in mind also that if in Thailand you will not get inflation increments ( unlike Philippines )

Good luck, find that NI number and jump on it quick.

  10. Investing is all about risk, and the best financial advisor is yourself, as you understand what level of risk appetite you have.

Paying for financial advice  ( 160K will be between 1-2% ) compound that over 30 years plus of your remaining life and it is a big chunk of dosh.

Whilst as we get older most would advise to move investments and assets into less risky areas that is not to say that as part of a balanced portfolio you should exempt yourself from having a small(ish) level of speculative investments such as Bit Coin, Ripple or whatever is todays flavour is purely buying a number in a system, with no underlying product behind it. It uses a technology which most probably will revolutionise the way banking is done, but you are only buying a number on that platform with no firm asset attached to it.

If from your current cash you are willing to take a small percentage gamble as a speculative nature then work out yourself what percentage you are willing to write off should it go pear shaped. With 160K  unless you have a high risk appetite one or two percent maximum.

As to investments educate yourself, at your age or in the next few years something like tracker funds to protect your capital are probably most appropriate .

If you have high risk appetite more than even crapto then you could always try binary options, or the equivalent black or red on roulette which are essentially the same. As I said you are your own best financial advisor, and are free. You need to educate yourself for the best balance.

You need to ask yourself how much do you need for how long and go from there , then work out what is your risk appetite. ONLY YOU know the answer to this
