In the Brexit text nothing was mentioned about: leave next year, next decade, century, millennium, so I presume: per A.S.A.P.

Also nothing about: at which contditions. So, whatever, even when the British ( English) economy drops back to the Middle ages:

    G O !

Remind: according to the man who is now Minister orf Foreign Affairs, the NHS will get 350 million pounds per WEEK, money what is now waisted in the EU.

    So, be happy: LEAVE !

Nearer 250, never the less good luck asking, Greece, Italy, Malta, Romania et al to fund that........oh sorry it will be the few positiove contributors, and the amount will get bigger make no mistake.

You do not have to worry Brussels will let you know what your increased contributions are for French farmers, not growing food in your land..........we are happy, we ARE leaving

  2. The simple fact is UK is recognised as entering the EU and will have to exit as such.

They will not get a deal which in anyway, part or whole is better than a member state, for fear  it would promote further withdraws from the EU.

For sure NI and Scotland want to be in, never the less the EU will only allow the withdraw of UK.

That may trigger referendums in NI and Scotland in the future and if separation happens then they can reapply for EU membership but not until, and for a referendum London has to agree  it which in the current state of affairs cannot happen till article 50+ at least 2 years ( maybe more )

Whether then if there is separation either NI or Scotland could meet the stringent requirement for re-joining the EU is also a matter for debate, and means not only being able to meet the criteria but also application ( get to the back of the queue  - more likely Ukraine before them )

The reality is going to be a hard exit, never the less both need one and other, there are losses for both parties, and there will need compromise.

Until all that is sorted EU ( all countries ) CANNOT negotiate in isolation with UK , or for that matter any other coutry, binding membership of EU dictates that no separate trade agreements, there can only be EU trade agreements, that is why Brussels have failed to pass anything meaningful in terms of trade deals.

Once exited however Britain can, and if EU put on tariffs then so will UK ( lose - lose )

However when May threatens she will lower corporation tax to 10% or something daft, EU posturing may take a different negotiating stance.

The fact is UK is one of only a few positive contributors to the EU budget, ( Germany are cacking their pants on the loss  as only they can pick up the slack.

I personally think it was a mistake by UK, never the less the people spoke, and it will happen.

Best to be first off the sinking ship rather than go down with the captain. Once the dust has cleared, article 50 triggered, UK out, EU will be forced to take a long hard look, especially as the Italian banking system collapses and change will come from within, maybe then once we are no longer UK, rather England and Wales, then we will reapply, as Scotland and NI, however they will be behind us as they are unlikely to meet the membership criteria

  3. At cessation of WW2, China seized 20 Billion USD worth of assets.

Japan continued with Overseas development, and continues to be one of the largest investors in China, without which China would unlikely be in the position it is today.

Chairman Mao on behalf of the Chinese waived the right to any reparation.

Just look at the way they are behaving in the  South China sea today, take a look at the way they are raping the resources of Africa today.

If you are going to have strong opinions, at least look at the context and facts, failing which you will only display an emotional argument which is flawed, and show yourself as an uneducated ranter

  4. Following the cessation of WW2, Japan, received aid, following that with the intervention of USA, driving the process, agreement and reparations were  made by Japan for all the countries it was in conflict with.

Since then Japan Overseas development has risen to some of, if not the highest in the world, including most of the  countries it was at conflict with.

Thus talk of further compensation is irrelevant, as it was agreed at state level in the past.

Whilst Japan will not ( at least currently ) publically apologise, neither will USA.

Trump talks of pulling troops from Japan, a splendid idea, it would be nice if the troops there could at least maintain social norms, pay their bills and find a stepping stone as a substitute for their bases in that part of the region, perhaps, the Philippines...... OH I forgot, they did not wait for a Trumped up Trump they kicked you out.

  5. Another good read, but old book is "Seven years with Samantha" restoring a vintage Austin Seven and driving around the world.

I remember the explanation of the naming of the Austin Seven by someone they encountered in India, "It is called the seven, because that is the number of passengers it can carry"....... the mind boggles

People come here for meaningful and accurate advice, if you don't know the answer please don't guess.

So on your premise and understanding of this rule, someone coming on holiday and marrying could then apply the following day for this route....... Good luck with that one, which is why the rules are applied in such manner.

You make it sound as if marriage gives an automatic ride to apply, and reside in UK (all other considerations being met) It does not

  9. Read the guidance, needs to be two years, or at least prove you have been in a relationship for that time .

It is upon yourself to prove this.

Currently if you do not meet this it may be refused, however you have the right to appeal due to wife being mother of the child under EU guidance, but do not hold your breath on this.

Do not forget you will also need now to pay NHS surcharge (500GBP)

  10. I take it your wife is Thai and you have been married 2 years with an official marriage certificate ( need certified translation of this ) as well as a lot of other bits and pieces .

Easiest route is partner on the 5 year route. There are various forms but spouse is the one you want

Forms change quite often ( minor modifications ) so download the latest version

Make sure you complete ALL the relevant sections

Make sure you have all the supporting evidence

Very often they ask for originals, or certified translations if not in English, make copies of those so they can keep them ( You may need again at FLR and ILR)

That's true. Britain is a representative democracy. Politicians are elected broadly based on their party's manifesto. They then face re-election based on their past performance and delivery of that manifesto at the next election.

Britain is not a democratic process like Switzerland where major decisions are put to the electorate to vote on. Bexit hasn't followed the British process. Not because the process was wrong but because Tory egos and chancers decided they didn't need to, could win easily and quell their political enemies.

Now we're in the mess we are, where  the majority of a minority who voted, following a campaign full of lies, deceit and fear mongering, are being held up as "the people have spoken" and therefore not only must we accept the result, based on no minimum voter turnout or winning margin, and implement it, again ignoring the British political process.

Well done the Brexiters - you won a vote you never expected to win, based on lies, many of which have already been exposed, false promises, many of which have already been renaged on, and by using a process alien to the British political process which was ill thought out. Now you want to implement it with no clear strategy, no clear plan, based on what exactly no one knows.

It's becoming clear that the understanding of what remaining or leaving would actually mean, what the issues and consequences would be, was never thought out or understood by the Tories, UKIP and their supporters. No strategy, plan or action list whatever the result.

And all to appease the Tory in fighting in the absence of any credible opposition.

In what way was the political process ignored?

    Referendums are constitutional

The fact that Cameron, and all his lies failed to understand the opinions of those who voted, adhering to "We know best and what the people want" was a mistake, he should never have called for the referendum in the first place without understanding the passion of the people regarding immigration, legislation from Brussels ( that unelected bureaucracy ) and the EUs intransience for change. Rather than taking the issue to the people at a local level to ascertain their current mindset, he sat in his ivory tower taking only account of the economic considerations rather then the passion of the people who put him there in the first place.

There was insufficient grass root discussion and representation which deluded him into thinking that the Tories were in power, he was PM, thus the people must support his view to Remain.

Whatever the consequences he will be written into the annals' of history for this single event, and viewed as a political incompetent.

Was I Pro Brexit, certainly not, but as someone benefitting from it ( USD based salary ) I am not complaining.

Do I think it was right for UK, no I do not, and we will suffer turmoil for the forthcoming years until fully closed.

What is much more of an issue is that of other EU states turning towards the same,  Holland, Finland, Austria and several other countries may want to take the same route.

AM and her cronies know this and fear for the collapse of their social experiment. They stopped Greece going down this path, but the situation was not the same. Their intransience is showing currently no signs of change. It cannot and they would prefer that UK takes a hard exit, in order to prevent further clouds over the EU.

IMHO she is just kicking the can down the road (to the dump)

The EU has morphed into a collection of rich and poor nations, and I know who I think benefits....

  12. You do not enter a negotiation by letting the other party know what your strategy is, you go in with musts and wants and negotiation tokens, things which are deal breakers, desires and things which you can trade to achieve your desired outcome.

May is sensible enough to know this, and even if debated, which it inevitably will be in the Commons, that will not necessary be how the game will be played.

It is about time that all those MPs trying to oppose Brexit, realised that come the elections which will be after Article 50 there fate will be determined not on policy or party preference but by the majority who voted for the Brexit. This could throw a few spanners in the works. This will throw the next election into a turmoil for both the major parties with swings in all constituencies more than possible

The people of spoken and TM is willing to Herald the charge and take action corresponding to that. As long as people see that Article 50 is invoked, TM will gain support, the interesting point will be when the next election occurs and the state of, as well of awareness in public, of the negotiations

As for the value of the GBP, we trade in a free market economy where exchange rates are subject to market forces, if the pound drops it helps exports, so be it let the markets decide.

Of course imports will go up, but what are the major imports on an individual level or company level which we cannot do without, would be willing to adjust the amount we pay  in order to still buy, or up manufacturing in UK?

Of course it is hard if you are British living abroad and have an income only in GBP, but for those in UK earning in GBP the only difference will be an increase in the products they choose to buy:

Ditch the BMWe and buy a Ford

Cheddar is as good as Brie ( well maybe not)

New phone, so what most people will pay another 100 quid just to have the latest, alternatively use last years model or a less featured one

Cost of house, unless the kitchen is from Italy or Sweden wont change

Wine - There are some dam good ones being produced in UK nowadays, and my preference is New World anyway ) Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir is worth every penny)

Holidays abroad, stay at home and save the money improve the economy

  13. As previously stated, make sure you have the full supporting documentation and in original document, make copies of everything for them to retain.

Make sure you select the correct form and complete it fully. ( I oriented one for the wife a few months before our application for FLR, arrived to submit and was told it had already changed version twice since I printed it out )

Income wise cash or monthly income or a combination of the two can be used.

Any documentation in a foreign language needs an official stamped translation.

Do not be tempted to lie in any part of the form, you will need to print out and take a hard copy of the form.

Double check everything on the form and documents, minor slip up can result in refusal.

It is all a real pain, but not impossible good luck
