  1. Well! , I have hummed & hawed over which food processor to buy for over 6 Months and finally today , chose this one , made my first batch of peanut butter (500gm). Sure beats pounding away with the mortar & pestle.

Thanks all for your many suggestions and tips.

    Happy Festive Greetings.

    I. Got my last refill on 16th Dec. Price was 420 Baht for 15kg , delivered and connected. This was in Phuket and I cook every Day , breakfast and dinner , can’t believe it has lasted so long!

Now 28th Dec. Still using the same gas bottle , can’t believe how long this gas has lasted , that’s averaging out at 35Baht/Month.

  3. Went to the Phuket store on the recommendation of a friend and picked up a top of the range head torch for less than half the price of a similar branded head torch (Petzl) , well pleased with that.

Also the week before when I was up in Chiang Mai, I bought a Running Cap from Asics Store in the Central Mall in the Sale at 40% discount (540baht) , only to find Decathlon’s own brand , exactly the same at 150baht.

Many thanks for the info. How did you get to Ranong? I'm planning to take the bus but the bus station is on the outskirts of town. I did this a couple of years ago but had the gf with me and went to Kawthoung in Myanmar on the long tail boat. I understand the Andaman club pier is in a different location.

I drove there in my car , the pier for the Andaman resort is a bit further out of Ranong , not sure of public transport to there from the town.

  5. First let me say that I have no first hand experience with well pumps.
others who have more direct experience with this things will soon advise you,  but from my uneducated on the subject opinion it is essential.
Let me explain my theory, I am sure it was not put there because they were afraid that your well would had overflowed, so IMO it is there to prevent the pump from operating if the water falls below a certain level so that the pump would not run dry and burn out.
With the rainy reason upon as I am sure there is litle danger that your pump will run dry now, but later on this year you might have that problem and you might need this level switch gismo.

Ok , thanks again , for the explanation , will go ahead and replace it then . Cheers.

  6. it is a float switch designed to start the pump when the water reaches a certain level or shut it of when it falls below a certain level.

Thanks for your speedy reply , do you reckon it is essential? , as my water pump seems to be operating OK without it , ie , I turn the tap on - the water pump springs into action , I turn it off , the water pump stops , or is there some situation where this thing needs to be in place?

  7. I cannot understand why anyone would buy a luxury imported item in Thailand.

Recently , I have been considering buying an Omega watch (Planet Ocean Chronometer).

I went to several Omega outlets in Bangkok & Phuket comparing prices and the best deal I could get was 5% discount from the listed price on the Omega website for Thailand.

I regularly travel to Japan , every 3 Months , so decided to check out the price there and low and behold , the discount offered there was 40% ..but that’s not all.

When I compared the omega website for Japan and Thailand the price was higher for Thailand and with their 5% discount , the price was still more expensive than the Japan price without any discount.

In summary the price in Thailand was approx. double the price in Japan for the exact same watch , from official outlets and the same manufacturers warranty.

PS ...I visited 4 outlets in Thailand and not once did I see any other customers in any of the shops ..says it all really!

that is because you are not in restaurants they go to.

they don't want to be anywhere near you or any other white people.

they have many places they go to and are spending big money. far more that all other tourists.

Yes , have to agree with you there , I visited the large KingPower store here in Phuket yesterday and I was the only caucasian in a sea of thousands of Chinese tourists and they were spending , as the queues at the checkouts and registration counter were miles long.

I try to avoid taking Thai Airways as much as possible because my experiences have been well below average. I've taken it to Sapporo 3 of the last 4 years to go skiing. Only because it is the only direct flight from Swampy. I found that having frequent flier points only means junk emails. If another airlines were to create a direct flight, I would jump at the change.

Air Asia fly direct from Don Muang to Sapporo. I have used them 3 times in the last year. Always half empty and have never paid more than £200 (8,000baht) return. No frills airline , so no in-flight entertainment.
