Elon Musk and Sir Keir Starmer Clash Over 'Civil War' Remarks
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Here's a quick question... How many Brits were banged up last year for social media posts, and how many Russkies? I'd publish the link to the answer, but it would be an unapproved source and deleted. So I ask as a question. Answers on a postcard, please... -
Elizabeth Lund, who has served as Boeing’s senior vice president of quality — a new position — since February... Lund said the company has significantly increased training since the Alaska Airlines blowout, and that the company is trying to improve quality as it focuses on “lean manufacturing.” “Can I make one suggestion?” safety board member Todd Inman interjected. “Sure, please,” Lund replied. “Stop talking about leaner and quality and start talking about safer manufacturing,” Inman said. Spirit Senior Vice President Terry George said that five years ago, 95% of the company’s factory employees had worked with sheet metal, but now it is 5%. https://apnews.com/article/ntsb-boeing-max-blowout-alaska-airlines-22059af5e451a0f1047c955e1dcc9a5e There were Spirit employees at the Boeing plant, but communication between the Boeing and Spirit workers on the floor of the Boeing factory wasn’t good, according to another interview transcript released Tuesday. “Well, basically we’re the cockroaches of the factory,” one unidentified Spirit employee told NTSB investigators. And a Boeing team captain at the 737 factory told investigators of problems of low employee morale and high turnover. “We have a lot of turnover specifically because, you know, this can be a stressful job, you know,” https://edition.cnn.com/2024/08/06/business/boeing-737-max-blowout-ntsb-hearings-day-one/index.html

Good dentist in Bangkok (but not a factory-like clinic)
impulse replied to JTXR's topic in Health and Medicine
I had an emergency molar extraction done at Bumrungrad Hospital dental section just last week. Excellent experience, and they got me in same day. No appointment, though I recommend you make one if you're not in an emergency situation. That's after one of those heavily advertised "International Clinics" kept me hanging most of the morning trying to find a doctor to come in that day. The best they could do was "tomorrow late evening". So I hopped on the BTS and walked in at Bumrungrad. About 7100 baht, all in. Not cheap, but I would have happily paid twice that to get that tooth out on the day. -
So now you admit the ‘far right’ thugs. There’s progress! The media sure seems to think so. Me, not so much. Sure, there are thuggish outliers. But mostly, it's people seeing their culture being destroyed, their girls being groomed, and their money (some of which used to subsidize keeping warm in the winter) going to support guests they didn't invite into the country.

I think that their sin was exposing that there was anyone involved other than the media's far right thugs.

Kamala Harris selects Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be VP running mate
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
That's a relief. I was concerned she'd choose someone that would help her chances. -
Some of the cities have onsite short term transfer visas for 24, 72 or 144 hours (based on the signs I've seen in the airports of Chengdu, Chongching, Xiamen, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and others where I've laid over in this past year.) I haven't really investigated because my visa situation doesn't require it. Worth looking into, because some of the Chinese cities are absolutely great for a day or 2 of shopping (especially the tech malls) and history touring. But do your homework.

Massive migrant fraud , 2 months before early voting

Whether you call her the Border Czar, or the Grand Imperial Poobah for Solving the Root causes of Illegal Migration, she failed miserably. https://apnews.com/general-news-3400f56255e000547d1ca3ce1aa6b8e9 https://www.npr.org/2021/06/08/1004504140/harris-tries-to-turn-the-focus-to-migration-but-gets-bogged-down-in-border-quest https://edition.cnn.com/politics/live-news/kamala-harris-mexico-visit/index.html https://www.politico.com/news/2021/06/25/kamala-border-republican-immigration-496207 https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kamala-harris-immigration-lead-mexico-border-biden-administration/ And now, the MSM is trying to revise history and play semantics to paint it as "Not her yob, man". But did she solve any root causes, even with $trillions of BidenBucks? -
British Man, 27, Vanishes in Thailand Before Flight Home
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Was it a Thai SIM, or a back home SIM with international roaming? Because I've been guilty of jumping the gun, changing out my SIM prematurely during my Thailand departure. Rookie traveler error. -
You mean like the fact checkers who insisted Biden wasn't wearing this hard hat backwards? At least until the public outcry forced them to back track on their fact check. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/snopes-admits-biden-wore-construction-hard-hat-backwards-fact-check-reversal The amazing thing about this story was how trivially they squandered their credibility. Fact check whores, I can accept. It's their business. But not cheap whores or dumb ones...

Do you have a more reliable source of root data than the St Louis Fed? By that, I mean a source that doesn't change definitions and polling methods to skew the data?

See, I read that as "Out of an abundance of caution, the Biden/Harris administration has put a hold on until after the election, lest another recently paroled immigrant gangbanger gets caught murdering an innocent woman. Again" But then, I am cynical. The AP article I linked to above was published in January, 2023. It took the DHS 18 months to figure out there may be fraud going on? With today's database technology and AI, they should have ferreted it out the 2nd time a fake telephone number, SSN, or address was used. Allowing that the first may have been a typo. That's either incompetence, or willful neglect for political purposes. -

Migrants seeking US sponsors find questionable offers online It’s part of an underground market that’s emerged since the Biden administration announced it would accept 30,000 immigrants each month arriving by air from Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua and Haiti. Applicants for the humanitarian parole program need someone in the U.S., often a friend or relative, to promise to provide financial support for at least two years. https://apnews.com/article/united-states-government-fraud-cuba-business-immigration-5ec9a3451db3c08e51e9ae03ec26a83a -
It was a product of a different period in US history. If you dynamited Mt Rushmore, you'd have to dynamite the nearby Crazy Horse, which is of a much more recent vintage, when people should know better... I don't advocate destroying either. If only for the tourist money. (BTW, the history of the Crazy Horse Monument is pretty interesting. Google it...)

How'za 'bout CBS News? U.S. pauses migrant sponsorship program due to fraud concerns The pause, the sources added, was triggered by concerns raised by the fraud detection branch of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, which noted a significant number of would-be sponsors were applying to sponsor multiple migrants. The fraud concerns being investigated relate to the people in the U.S. applying to sponsor migrants, not the migrants themselves, https://www.cbsnews.com/news/us-migrant-sponsorship-program-paused-cuba-haiti-nicaragua-venezuela/ And if you're at all interested in facts and numbers, here's the FAIR report detailing what they found in public DHS documents: https://www.fairus.org/news/executive/internal-homeland-security-report-proves-biden-harris-mayorkas-chnv-parole-program -
Maybe they should cobble together enough SF human poop and sculpt it into a Biden statue, and another one of a hometown gal, Kamala.

But if you selectively throw out numbers with no context, you can convince the MSM audience that things are ginger peachy keen. 15 million jobs, indeed.
-
I'm just not seeing 4.9 million... More like Zero for native born workers and 4 million added for immigrants. While adding 10+/- million immigrants... And net gain of only 2 million total full time jobs. https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/LNU02073413 https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/LNU02073395 https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/LNS12500000 You can believe the so called "fact checkers", or you can go to the root data.

Warning Signs of US Recession: A Potential Setback for Kamala Harris
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Assuming you know how to read a graph, what does it mean when the slope of the curve increases like it has post-Covid. You know... On Biden's watch... https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/GFDEBTN/ It's not difficult to explain Trump's numbers, since the slope of the curve only matched Obama's line, until Covid. -
But it's always helpful to point to countries with policies that work.
