  1. Was it mobdro I am watching it now, sky sports 5 HD through android box. Loads of movies show sport etc. If it is that it comes through android box on app through play store. Box was 3000, app free

    Pattaya2you shop near Tum com.

  2. Phuket. less traffic better roads, better health care, Very cheap to travel off the Island, check out various rant threads. When it does rain in Samui floods with stinking water easily and power outages come quickly again read the threads about it. Samui is the only place I have been to in Thailand where the beach side of the road is developed the heck out of and in Chaweng its difficult to get access to the beach.

Phuket is expensive but no more than Samui less than a 1000 at times to fly to BKK, Patong not to good but the beach has been cleaned up. I visited both for 5 years 20 years ago regularly, settled in Samui 15 years ago for 9 years. Been back once never again. Just my opinion of living on both islands. Bear in mind you are posting on the Samui thread and people love living here. Just my opinion as asked by the OP.

On the mainland now beats them both IMHO

  3. Something I didn't know until recently is that the King of Thailand loves dogs.

I've been working on a youtube short on dogs up here in Surin.

I love dogs and at first many would bark and growl at me. Now they know I'm not afraid I'm not getting the best shots.

I got some good stuff already though.

start taking a kilo of soup bones and dishing them out, they will be all over you in a few days and get all the shots you need on soi dogs in Thailand. Tongdang was a famous soi dog that was written about, the book sold out on the first day, people qued over night to get a copy. Pity that's as far as most of them went in relation to soi dogs.

  4. The retriever I would look at getting it adopted abroad . Cheap flights for dogs £40 on Norwegian Soi Dogs may give a pointer

Thanks for the info think you may know the lady owner Marbrachan area same as me, we have met many times. Long drawn out process I will send details to John to see if he can help but i know from assisting our friend at Marbrachan Shelter not easy process. The old lady loves them but would like to see them homed with farangs. She spending all she has on feeding Soi dogs every day I help out by give her money now and again. Ex English teacher speaks perfect English and obviously heart of gold.

  5. honestly I see these doggy do gooders every morning dumping food and things on the street for the strays

even putting collars on them and its no solution

the solution is to spay or neuter them then the population at the shelter would be a lot less

dont feed the problem fix it

The dogs survive without being fed, they get by on rats, mice, chingchocks etc. how many dogs have you had neutered to cure the problem.

True technically need a work to do volunteer work just as you do if your house is in a company name and you do any work on it. So immigration officer told me.

  6. :-( Time to pack my bags and leave...... Surprised to see this number.

I thought with all the dismal news about Chinese tourists behaving badly,

there was some sort of renewed push from TAT to bring back the good

old polite free spending European tourists.......

Worth bearing in mind these figures are from TAT who are not exactly know for "wooing" powers but seem to be good at putting out false figures. Chinese tourists are bused every where in organised groups and their presence is felt by a few business's on the tour list.

  7. post-140396-0-87578600-1432135952_thumb.post-140396-0-22220500-1432135962_thumb.The 2 dogs in the pictures need homes. they are cared for by an elderly thai lady who spends most of her money on taking care of the dogs around. I hope out of the ones she has at her house these 2 are appealing enough for somebody to take in.

1 Golden retriever about 3 years old taken to vets by owner and 6 months later still not collected so Thai lady took him in. very boisterous but a nice friendly loving dog and i would think a pedigree.

2 Female terrier not American pitbbull but a bull dog of some kind. very friendly again, likes attention. Abandoned by breeding farm as had problems with first litter and cannot breed again.

Put in Pattaya section as dogs are on the Darkside Pattaya about a mile past of soi country club market coming from Sukhumavit, location for google maps 12.931890, 100.940633 google maps.

PM if anybody interested, all the lady asks if they become unwanted they are returned to her not the streets.

if possible not turn it into an anti dog rant, its about getting dogs off the street, that's all.

  8. I lost mine last year just had to make a police report 20 baht and went to licence office and they gave me a new one after seeing police report. I lost it in Pattaya but did the report at Banglamung police station as it was easier

  9. I travel with a laptop bag that weighs in at over 13 kilo, the laptop and power brick alone weigh over 7 I was challenged once and when I removed the laptop and power supply they realised I could never get it below 7kilo and there was no way the laptop was going into checked baggage so they abandoned any challenge they were thinking, I travel light no other bags or luggage only - happened once in over 60 flights

If a bag fits in the overhead locker what's the problem = I've seen people boarding flights with two small cases and a pile of other %%%%% unchallenged

In saying that this guy should have been arrested and thrown off the plane and banned from travel - a rude mouth piece

So if what's in the bag weighs 30 kilo but fits and other bags over weight in same locker all over weight what do you think might happen to that locker catch in turbulence. Saftey that's what's the problem. Any decent airline should ask to weigh cabin luggage when checking in along with hold luggage. More than 7kg then its in the hold or not going. Aircraft manufacturers give the 7kg rule for a reason the overhead bin has a limit.

  10. Took the Pantip bus from Surat airport to Donsak this week, and went a totally new route I will be using in the future. The driver turned right coming out of the airport and went South on A18 (the road in front of the airport) until he got to 44, the road that goes to Krabi. He turned left and went East until he hit the 401 (the main road from Surat to Nakon Si Thamarat), turned right (East) and then turned left on 4142, the road to Donsak. All divided highway except the last part, nothing in town. From Donsak that would be go to 44, head towards Kanchanadit and Surat, then take the Krabi road until you get to A18, turn North and it goes right by the airport without going into Surat.

Also my preferred Route bit further but quick and no traffic.

  11. You wont be able to turn away paying customers in the future if your not on this world because of doing it now. Stick to the legal midnight closing zone you are in and you will live to tell the tale. Cant turn the clock back when you are destroying you health for a few thousand bath.

  12. Would still go but would not go walking along the beaches at night. Think the Prime Minsters statement last week answered the question, not safe but be careful and respectful. British Government reported nearly 400 British Nationals died in Thailand year ending March 2013, after Philippines more requests for consular help than any other country. Officially 11 Brits murdered in Thailand since 2011.

Obviously most deaths are "natural" causes like the elderly couple in Chiang Mai found dead in the morning in their room, both had heart attacks same night.

  13. I go with the GPS most of the time, but on a long trip I look at google maps then put way points in the GPS to take me what is see to be the best route. Of course depends if you want the fastest route or the shortest which is often the slowest. BIL would probably go for most economical route which could be slower.

  14. Great news. Who cares what happens to England. We hate them and all they have done from tricking us into the Union, The Highland clearances, killing our Queen, Margaret Thantcher etc etc. I feel for the Welsh but. Maybe we could take them with us, Thatcher f****d them as well.

Personally I don't think we should accept a share of their debt and to you English who say it's better for England - ha ha ha, you are screwed without us.

And the Royal Bank of Scotland have said YES vote were off to London England. The polls in England are stronger for a YES than the neck and neck race at the moment in Scotland, so the majority of England wish you well in your quest for a YES vote.

  15. I used post office twice Pattaya to Udon 3000 baht and Phuket to Pattaya 3000 baht. Bubble wrapped all ok no gas in tank so take it low and they probably drain it as none at when arrived in Pattaya, bike would not start but they had some in a bottle got me to nearest Gas station. Tracking on line.

PCX 150 so 125 maybe cheaper.

  16. Thai women have one thing in common they are all different, you cant stereo type how many would like it its down to the individual. My experience and those of my ex wifes friends in the UK they liked what they earned, like the rights they got to our houses pensions etc and were all waiting to the day they had sent enough money back home to Thailand to come back and live, of course with a good share of ex hubbies assets.

There's a reason why Thai ladies are happy to marry guys 20-30 years older, i will leave you to figure that one out.

  17. OP ... do you plan on marrying again? If not..... forget it.... walk

If you do want to get married again.... divorce is pretty simple.... we are talking 100K here.... it's not a huge price to pay.. maybe it is better to pay and be done with her... who knows? I guess this is a question only you can answer

as for Immigration, I don't know the answer to that... others will.

The 100k is what she wants for a divorce, and yes I do want to marry again but not in Thailand. The only worry is immigration, Yes I will walk away have no contact with her but I want to know if she can legally make waves at immigration. Remember no house no kids no finances tied up anywhere that she would be demaning 50/50 on.

From my knowledge she would have to make a civil claim against you and that means putting money up front and also paying an amount should she loose to cover your legal costs, so very very very doubtful. In the 15 years I have lived here seen loan sharks see the ladies debt as part of the farang she is with debts. They usually only get these debts as they have a farang in tow. Had several friends cars and trucks taken and had to pay to get them back to pay off the debt. Its illegal but try getting help off the police.

Just go down South no contact and you will 99% be ok.

  18. the seats are missed, now we cant sit and watch the pickpocketers working any more

In all my years going to pattaya I have NEVER had anyone try pick my pockets, not there not anywhere. I have never heard of that either. So I call bullshit! Go back to the PI if you want to watch that.

I suggest you go down to Soi 12 / Beach Rd. area for a few nights and watch the group of lady-boys, one of them a fat, ugly monster, pick-pocketing Russians and Indians daily. Right in plain view of everybody. Show starts around 23.00 or a bit later. Might need to e a bit patient, some days they have been doing a runner from the cops already. No pick-pockets in Pattaya, only in PI....???? Suggest you read the news or google "pick-pocket, Pattaya". True they go after easy targets, they never bothered me, as Indians and Russians are much better targets. As far as Beach Rd. in general. I have seen a huge increase of low-lives, drug dealers, drunks and other exotic creatures all along the beach the last 12 months. Quite a sight, watching a bunch of single male Indians negotiating with an (1) overweight palm-lady every few meters! Guess, sooner or later this will all be stopped to make this a real family destination. MS>

Quote: Guess, sooner or later this will all be stopped to make this a real family destination. MS>

Heaven forbid! There must be a thousand "family friendly destinations" on this planet. Pattaya is (and must remain) a party-town. Period ! I would hate to see the day, when Pattaya turns into "family friendly destination" number 1001.

    Cheers.

Regrettably I thought it had already turned into a family friendly destination :-(

  19. "Boredom is the legacy of fear" as prof of mine once said, and that stuck with me. must spend 2-300 a day on beer (I don't know. I live here in Jomtien and don't drink). Get a hobby? Start going to some AA meetings? Read a book? Take long walks? He seems lazy, a drunk, and lacks imagination. First stop drinking. Does someone change his nappies too?

The OP is giving his opinion on a friends way of life, its not the friend on here complaining is as the OP sees his life now. Who you is your post aimed at the OP who is happy or his friend who never posted he was having a bad life. Live and let live and if that's his life that's his life, Millions would swap for it. If he is lazy, a drunk,, lacks imagination so be it as long as he is not bothering anybody and paying his way his choice, as is your choice to live your life how you wish here.
