  1. just an update guys - i emailed the embassy and they replied quickly, and this was their answer regarding my upcoming appt

"We can confirm that the Affirmation of marital status, and certification of a copy of your passport, can be done during the one appointment

Furthermore, please bring the original Thai divorce document (there is no need for a covering letter).

As you have used your Thai address on the affirmation application you need to provide us with a document from our list of acceptable documents for proof of address. Please see the list within our Notarial and Document Services page for Thailand on GOV.UK.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/notarial-and-documentary-services-guide-for-thailand#what-supporting-documents-you-need-to-provide (after reading - driving licence UK is enough)

However, as you do not have a Tabien Baan (Yellow Book) or pink ID card, please check with the district office to ensure they will accept the affirmation with a Thai address. Alternatively, you can bring proof of address outside of Thailand and it can be changed on the application during your appointment."

we went to our local amphur in hua hin and they dont require i bring pink card / yellow book

so, pretty standard paperwork required, and not as complex as i read when looking at the embassy website

  2. Hi Guys, I hope you can help me please.

I am from UK, my fiance is Thai

I have an appointment at the UK Embassy Bangkok next week, for an Affirmation To Marry, and Passport Certification

The online application process has instructed me to bring the following documents, and i am not sure i have exactly what they need.

The application asked for these 2 documents

"1 - Original decree absolute or PDF and covering letter or email from the court. For all divorces registered outside the UK, you will need to provide evidence that you or your former spouse were resident or a national of the country where the divorce took place

2 - (if stating a Thai address on your affirmation) Original yellow book or pink ID card"

So, I have my decree absolute (thai divorce certificate), but i dont have a covering letter from a court (we didnt go to court to divorce) or an email.  Will my divorce certificate be enough?

Also what is "evidence that you or your former spouse were resident or a national of the country"?  Is a Thai Divorce certificate evidence enough that we (she) was a Thai resident (or do i need a copy of ex wife ID card)?

Also, regarding point 2, i dont have a yellow book, or pink ID card, but i do live in thailand.  Will this cause a problem?  is there anything else i could use for proof of address? Maybe something from my local immigration office?

Not even married yet and things are hard work 🐵

hoping someone can advise.....  khop kuhn khrap

ok, what about use a basic LED light outdoor just 5 hours for example from 6.30PM to 11.30pm ?

to stop mine flowering in the shorter days, i installed some solar lights above the plant.  they would kick in when it got dark and would normally fade out by midnight or something.  these stopped the plants flowering before i wanted them to

i dont think it takes much artificial light to stop them flowering.  there is a shop selling plants near me, and his plants grow huge and never flower, becuase he has street lamps outside his store ????

There were a storm with a lot if lightning and short periods of heavy rain that came through early evening but quickly became only moderate to light rain.

yea, we had to land at Don Meuang (due to land at 7.15pm) with lightening flashing all around us.  all the thais (who can sleep on mini vans without a seat belt quite easily) hardly blinked..... i was cakking it ????

  7. where are you located mate?

i bought 4 plants, each about 2 foot tall, here in hua hin for 1000 baht for all 4.... he said they were all female, and even though they werent flowering, i trusted him

took them home, flowered them, and sure enough they were all female and some of them produced some really large buds (they werent from feminised seeds, so i have no ideea how he knew they were female (werent clones either))

ended up with too much weed and am now in the process of giving most of it away ????

  8. i have never seen the point of visa agents........  if you need to apply for a visa, who is likely to try harder to get the visa, you and your wife, or the agent (who has already been paid)

i have had three UK visas for three seperate thai ladies

(i am good at visas applications, but rubbish at relationships ???? )

i am always gonna apply myself, as i know i will give it 100% effort to obtain the visa

  9. Anyone know what these ganja loving grubs are in the earth?  i am in hua hin and they seem to be eating my roots, plus the roots of my friend's plants who lives nearby.

what are they, and any good ways to make them go away?

  10. my mate was in there for three weeks. his dad wired his flight money to me and i took it to bangkok and went to the IDC.  was a bad looking place, as packed with people as the photo that was posted.  there are youtube videos about it too, showing the inside of the prison.

my mate later told me he saw some guy getting a worm dug out of his leg by his mate, with a spoon!  best to avoid being detained here at all costs!!

Huay Keow waterfall and park is worth a look or an hour or two, park at the Buddha (Kruba Srivichai monument) just after the Zoo, walk through the flower shops and into the park.

Wang Bua Ban (3km further up the road) is a nice spot for a swim in a waterfall. After the parking spaces, walk down, turn left before the sala and carefully walk down the steep narrow trail for the best swimming hole.

Wat Umong underground shrine and fish feeding island another place worth exploring, just off Suthep road.

might be dangerous at night ????

  12. our recycling business near us will take glass bottles, metal, plastic bottles, and has now started accepting plastic bags to recycle

we even get a little bit of money for collecting it all together and taking it to them.  plus they give us large sacks to collect everything in, each time we drop off

luckily our house has a laundry room so we can use that as a recycle collction area, and drop stuff off every month or two

we also compost all our veg and fruit peel into the garden

it has helped cut down our waste by a fair bit, but we still must dump a fair bit of refuse every day

I'd feel safer in the US with a concealed carry, than risk my elderly martial arts skills against drug dealers, homeless, and gang members.

yes, but if you thought everyone else was carrying too, like the bloke sat directly behind you on the bus that you cant see easily, would it not make you feel more nervous?

i know it would do for me
