Hey guys,
i have a non immigrant O, multiple entry visa, based on marriage, expiring in sept 2014. the visa is in my old passport, in the form of a sticker from savannakhet, and when i entered thailand, after a trip to the UK, i showed the old passport to the immigration officer and he stamped me in using my new passport
from the information i have received from this site, i was quite sure that i could continue using my two passports together when i have to leave the country, until the visa expires
this was until the other day. i went to the hua hin immigration office to get a certificate of residency, and the lady who issues them in the side office told me that i would have to be coming back soon for a new visa. she saw my stamp expires in feb, and said i would be needing a new visa. i told her my visa in my old passport was not expiring until sept and so i could carry on using this, but she insisted not
she said i would have to return soon to the office and start out for new visa
does anyone know what she means? she is a lady who has been there the few years i have been going to the office, so i would assume that she knew her stuff, but i am sure it contradicts what many have said on here (and i know most people on here know their stuff )
hoping you can help and thanks in advance

Hi Guys, our old Mitsubishi Champ needs a new compressor for the air conditioner, but rather than buy a new one, i wanted to check out the scrap yards / junk yard / wrecking yard to see if i could find the part cheap.
does anyone know if there is one in the area? i seem to remember hearing of one near to Pranburi a good while back
Anyone know where there is one around here where i would be likely to pick up an old compressor for the mitsubishi?
the wife seems to think such a thing doesnt exist in thailand, and she asked the guys at the garage today and they didnt shed any light either
driving around hua hin with no air conditioner is not easy, and the wife wont let me have the window down as she says too much dust / fumes comes in the car !!

thanks for all the answers guys.
we bought the car today, and he said he wanted 5,000 for the insurance to be transferred (as he previously thought it could not be transferred, so has factored in the refund he will get from his insurers, into the final asking price)
i thought this was fair enough, and did not take the insurance, so he is due to cancel 2moro
i did not think of the no claims bonus mentioned above tho. would we be able to transfer the policy and retain the NCB you think?
it is a 250,000B chevvy (altho 940,000B 7 years ago when new, and still looks great, with low 55,000km mileage)
he said that the first class insurance he has, could be transferred for the remaining 6 months of the policy, but would not be allowed to be extended after this (as it is first class or something)..... i guess this means no NCB if he is correct
or am i better of texting him and telling him not to cancel the policy and offering him 5,000B ?

i am buying a second hand car tomorrow from a german guy. he has first class insurance and it is valid for another six months
he said today that when we exchange tomorrow, the insurance will expire, as it is him that is insured and not the car
i always thought it was the car that was insured, and therefore i would still be insured when i bought it from him
do you guys know the situation pls? and if it does transfer, is there anything we need to do, like inform the insurers etc?
thanks in advance

hey guys, i am new to the motoring forum, and was after some advice please
myself and the wife have just been to look at a 2005 Toyota vios soluna 1.5 e vvti
it is automatic transmission, has 130,000km on the clock, one lady owner
it looks in good condition, and is in the price range we were looking at. and about the right size. the lady wants 270,000B for it
can anyone give me some advice on whether or not this is a good buy?
are these models reliable when they start to get this amount of km's on the clock? is there anything we should have checked before thinking about putting in an offer?
thanks in advance guys )

there is an email address on a sticker in the window that would allow one to vent off some steam if one wanted to
not sure where the email would end up, and if anyone would actually care, but it may make you feel better

hey guys, we recently let our TV package expire, and are now on the market to get another one (the wife is starting to talk too much with no tv on)
before we had, what sounds like when my wife says it, "gian tung". they are the local cable tv company that charges 750 B for 3 months. for that you get about 80 channels, with a few decent farang channels in the mix - BBC News, Al Jazeera, ITV Choice, some sports etc
i know that CTH do a deal where UK football is included for about 900B a month - has anyone tried this? what is it like?
the in laws up country have satellite, which a lot of the locals seem to have, but when i had a flick through their channels, all i could find was asian tv
what do farangs in this area find is the best tv packages.......... i dont really want to spend as much as 1000B a month, but may if it sounds a good deal
we are farang and thai wife, living here for the long term
any information thankfully received

i am in a similar situation as the OP, in that i have just returned from the UK with a new passport, but mine is a non immigrant O visa, based upon marriage, that is in my old passport
it is in the form of a sticker, that i acquired from savannakhet after a marathon bus journey
it is valid for another 8 months. do i have to go to immigration here in hua hin to get it transferred, or will i be ok carrying two passports whenever i cross into thailand, as i did at the airport the other day?
thanks in advance guys and gals

i did pattaya to hua hin the other day
have done it a few times and i found this method to be the best so far
11 am bus out of north road bus station, pattaya to suvarnabhumi - 250B arrives 12.30
then bus from floor 1, next to food hall, to hua hin. big yellow VIP bus, very comfy, leaves 1.30pm - 305B
arrived hua hin bus station about 5pm.
journey can be done quicker, but this way was comfortable, plus felt safer

Sakuna is south of Bangkok at Samut Prakan.I have not been there but it is apparently an alternative to BSR. It is cheap (about 300baht/day) and they mix the lam up for you. Plenty of Mekhongs in there but not constant action like BSR. There is plenty on t'internet about it .It's sometimes spelt Skunar. I am going to give it a try next time in Thailand. There are directions to it on the bangkokhooker website http://bangkokhooker-fishing.com/fishing-ponds/sakuna-where-the-grass-is-always-green/ or on john-tom http://www.john-tom.com/FishingInThailand/FishingInThailand.html#Skunar
As for Jurassic,I paid B4800 and had 15 Caho to about 20kg and about 10 redtails to 10kg in a day. I like the place but I like to use my own gear and they charge you more for using your own kit,so I won't be going again. Khao Yai sounds OK.I think I'll give that a try.
thanks Tommy mate - i think i will have to look up that Sakuna soon - it sounds good
sounds like a good day at jurassic, but at 100 GBP / 150 dollars for a days fishing, it is a pricey do
khao yai is good, and having the second lake gives you the option of fishing for small fish on a float if you fancy
one thing tommy mate - i wouldnt mind a drive to jurassic next time i am passing just for a walk round and to see how the other half fish . do you have a link to any directions pls?

the bottom of soi 102 still has a 15 cm deep river running along it, 9 hours after the rain stopped.
i hope there is no rain 2moro, as is predicted. the flood water seemed to come very quickly today after not that much rain it seemed. i guess the ground was still sodden from the earlier rain
-
Khao Yai is good fishing. there are big mekong in there 50kg + i think, plus the other catfish that has the pointing, shark like fins and fight harder than the mekong. forget the name, sorry
there are also some big kahor in there. it is good fishing, cheap and comfortable.
i dont think it opens until 9am though so dont pitch up too early
Tomato - can you tell me where Sakuna is please? also, how much did a day at Jurassic cost and how may kahor and to what size mate?? how many redtails?

i got the package from Dtac that is shown in that image from ESCAPIS. that deal is for a contract, but they do a pay as you go for 220B for a month
it is one gig 3G and unlimited EDGE internet. no free mins though
the coverage has been good for me. travelled from bangkok to hua hin today in the mini van and the coverage was decent all the way down
ok for a light user like me when i am out of the bar's wifi zone
i would be interested to hear if there are many other deals in this sort of price range < 300B

Like you I can't workout in the heat in my own gym I always turn on the sitcom half an hour before I start. Heat really has a bad influence on your workouts. So, gym doors open... I'm actually looking at the gyms here to see if I want to join, but I cannot work out in this heat. I need a well air conditioned space for that. I assume with doors open this is not an air conditioned gym. Correct?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
me and the mrs live on soi 102, and if you are going to be showing sitcoms in the gym, the wife will be down there for sure! pizzas and sitcoms she will be well happy (still tubby mind)
for this gym mate, are there any special promos for us guys on this thread? any early bird deals to get the numbers up quickly? i need a new gym (though i hope the sitcom volume is not as loud as it is at our house)

i would think that some lines show up more in the water than other coloured lines, and i would expect this to make most fish wary
i know in the uk when i go fishing some ponds, the fish will feed on the loose feed that is thrown in right up on the surface, but wont touch the bait with the hook in it. whether it is that the hook is visible, or the way it falls through the water, or the line is visible, but they are clever
red sounds like an unusual colour for line! likely to scare fish a little too as there isnt much else in a pond that would normally be red i wouldnt think

dogpoo that is a cracker mate!! any bigger and you wouldnt have been able to stick your head above it's massive body, and no one would have believed it was you who caught it
great fish mate
-
if it is something digital you want airbrushing you could probably find a service online and email them the pictures
either that or download photoshop and do it yourself
-
'ave many in 'ua 'in mate
my good lady likes nothing better than a 'airbrush and 'airwash in the salon
-
there is also one on the Palu U road. after you pass G supermarket on your left, it is about 3 shop units further on. the daughter speaks good english, and he seems to be busy a lot as there are always lots of old mowers waiting for his attention
