  1. what is blue book?

Has it got a number plate ?

sorry, i mean green book..... (quickly checks he has his blue book whistling.gif )

not sure what sort of bike it is, but the lad who we bought the house off was a dane who was well into bikes and looked after this one well he said. i have attached a picture of the bike....... it does have a number plate yes

PS i will attach a pic as soon as i work out how

  2. hello guys, wondering if you can help me please

we bought a house about 14 months ago and the guy threw in an old ish motorbike in with the sale of the house

the bike was not in his name, and apparently belonged to someone who has left hua hin now, but was passed onto the guy who gave it to us (i have no doubt he was telling the truth)

are we able to tax this bike and use it with no blue book?

or, are we able to sell it, by first obtaining a blue book?

my wife is thai, i am 100% farang

need help please guys as it is a nice bike, but just sitting there unused at the minute wai.gif

  3. we travelled with the 999 company from hua hin to samui the other day and whilst waiting at the bus station in hua hin lots of buses stopped that were heading to phuket

all these buses will have come through cha am, and from our experience on our 999 bus, they will stop anywhere and pick up passengers, as long as the ticket is bought previously

999 were a good company for us, but not sure if they service the bkk - phuket route

  4. i think hua hin is great for a night out..... if you have some good company then there are plenty of bars and beers and girls about, plus a few discos worth checking out late on

surely better than a lot of the towns and cities near to where i am from in england

its warm, its cheap, the food is good...... happy nights thumbsup.gif

  5. ...my favorite is the ~400pm air con all-Second Class diesel rain car to Bangkok.

Does that train end at a station near the BTS or MRT?

i think all trains end their journey at hualampong train station in bangkok..... and from there you can connect with the MRT

the trains are safer and more fun, but on average have always taken me 6 hours to get to bangkok

  6. Phraya Nakhon temple in the cave is great.... get into the cave by about 10am so u can see it with sunlight on it's roof if you can

    - it is a car journey of 40 mins from hua hin

in hua hin, the beach area directly across from Market Village (the shopping centre) is great

the old town area around the pier is interesting for a stroll late afternoon

Night Market and Grand Market are worth a walk around to in the evening.......

Bintabaht for bars and beers....... enjoy

  7. last year all around the Bintabaht was full of drunken people and wet girls.... plus there was a big procession here, with lots of floats and music

also there was lots of people hanging out the front of Market Village, and this year i see they are doing a foam party too

    happy songkran

  8. the AC on our old car has been pretty ineffective these last few weeks, and my mate said the gas would need topping up, so i went to a garage he knew that could do this for me, and i asked the guy working how much......

he took a quick look under the bonnet (ie 30 seconds), and said "needs a new compressor"....... i asked him how much and he said 6500 B

i said ok, thanks for looking and drove off, as i didnt want to spend that much, plus i wanted a second opinion

i then went to Quik B on petchkasem road, just north of king's palace

he looked at it, got his big machine thing out, hooked it up, and filled it with gas..... took him about 15 minutes in all

great service, even put covers on the seats so his overalls didn't dirty anything etc (or maybe to stop his overalls from getting dirty) whistling.gif

i asked him how much, he said for free!!

    happy days......

would defo recommend this garage, and my mate who knows about cars, says they have all the latest gear in for testing your motor

    Quik B - definitely recommended

  9. gee man - what an amazing photo!!!

we were on hill stand C2 and it was real good for the money..... we could walk around a fair bit and so could watch the race from different parts of the track...... the atmosphere was good here too, and the transport laid on within sepang to get us to our stand was more than adequate

we were unaware which of the red bulls had won though as the race finished (as the screen was too far away), so this meant we could watch it in the hotel later, not knowing the result :)

a great day had by all, and the wife really enjoyed it too

  10. hey guys, we are travelling to Malaysia and Indonesia this weekend

will my wife need to take out a medical insurance policy, or as we are travelling to ASEAN countries, will she have medical insurance already?

i know in the EU we are covered if we have an accident in another EU country, and wondered if the same applied in ASEAN countries?

if not, can anyone recommend a good insurance company where we can get insurance for her for our two week trip?

    thanks guys wai.gif

  11. hey guys - thanks for the great advice

i think ATM use, and carry some thai baht, with a few dollars for visa, are going to be the most cost effective and convenient way for me.....

but i am a little worried about what Aarn said above...... are all the ATM's limited to 1,000,000 rupiah per day?? is there a limit on the number of times one can use the machine per day??

  12. I think sometimes people dont come back to say thanks because they are still waiting for a few more answers, if they are not 100% sure what to do yet

i think when you come back and say thank you, it is almost like you are closing the thread, where in fact, the OP may be hoping for a few more replies

  13. Hey guys

the mrs and I are going to malaysia on friday for a few days, and then onto bali for a couple of weeks, flying from thailand

i am a brit, and the UK currency is poor at the moment

i have Baht here in thailand, and i have Pounds in my UK account

what is the best way to obtain local currency for our trip?

would i be best off buying dollars in bangkok, and changing these downtown when i get to our destination, or should i take Baht, or even Australian dollar (again purchased in Bangkok)

or am i better off using the ATM when i get to either country and drawing from my UK bank, or even drawing from my Thai Kasikorn bank??

any advice please my friends?? wai.gif

  14. what are the best clubs in bangkok for decent prog and tech and deep house at the moment

i have been to Bed a few thursdays to see the likes of Booka Shade and MANDY

went to RCA but there was not much decent down there....... where else should i be checking?

  15. thanks guys - wai.gif i will go to immigration and get my 60 days a little before the 18/06 visa end date

am i right in thinking i can only do this one time per visa (just incase we need to stay in thailand longer for some reason)??

also guys, when we decide to return to thailand (in a year or so i would guess), should i enter on a tourist visa and then go to immigration and apply for a marriage visa again, or should we take all the documents with us, and apply from the UK at Hull?
