I have been dealing with the Bangkok Bank for about sixteen years and have always had to provide ID when making a withdrawal over the counter.

No problem for me I want them to look after my money.

However, now someone at the bank can decide whether you're allowed to take your own money or not. So they're doing more than "looking after your money" - they now control your personal life.

"Transactions lacking a reasonable explanation must not proceed." - who decides what is "reasonable"?

Despite being acquitted, Sararat remains in custody, as the charge is severe enough to warrant a possible death sentence.

This is categorically false. She does not remain in custody "as the charge is severe enough to warrant a possible death sentence." - this would imply that innocent people are kept in custody based on the nature of what they're charged with - farcical.

She remains in custody because she was already convicted of another murder. coffee1

The accompanying post referenced his frustration over Thailand’s visa-free policy, insinuating that it enables such incidents.

Stealing a cat is a dipsh*t move, however, it has nothing to do with Thailand's visa-free policy. Does this xenophobic moron think that had the lady applied for a visa, she'd suddenly stop being a dipsh*t cat thief???

Jeffrey Sachs also has another video "China and Russia cannot afford to let Iran fail".

So why haven't they stepped in yet?

Sorry, I don't trust Jeffrey Sach's geopolitical analysis.

He also claims Israel is following an "old book" (even though religious freedom exists in Israel) whilst ignoring that Iran LITERALLY runs its country according to an interpretation of the Quran. Making grand claims does not make one an expert. coffee1

  5. This story has a lot of holes:

She was abducted and taken across the border by some people, who then confiscated her phone, but then gave it back to her at a hotel (they didn't think she'd contact someone??).

Her father "sought police assistance, prompting coordination with regional authorities" but these authorities seemingly did nothing as the lady then had to escape the hotel by hiring a driver to take them to a bamboo grove, where they then crossed back into Thailand.

Also, she apparently escaped AFTER hearing about the previous building being set on fire, which she "heard about". Didn't she say those people didn't have phones - who was she contacting? And to top it all off, they were fined for an illegal crossing!? Would Thai authorities really fine a victim of human trafficking?

Police reported they believe the driver may have lost control after another vehicle cut in front, or possibly due to falling asleep at the wheel.

What? He also MAY have lost control by himself cutting in front of another vehicle or driving too fast and hitting a bunp in the road or or or...

A body being thrown from the car would lead me to speculate that few if any seatbelts were being worn and that the poor little boy was likely not in a child car seat (since adults that don't believe in safety often just let the kids stand at the back or sit on a lap etc.)

PP faltered again but at least this time they only got themselves to blame

Ineed. Three key points for me where they stumbled 1) Not having a clear plan for moving social security out of government control 2) Hard stance against weed 3) Leader ranting/raving/shouting on stage using "impolite" language - didn't sit well with many who might have like Pita and Thanathorn before.

  8. I used to say Kbank only, but when it comes to doing changes related to passport updates/phone number changes etc. out of province recently, I have found KTB to be much easier to work with. Both are great though and I generally use Kbank for daily and KTB for longterm.

  9. Feel sorry for the guy and hope he recovers. The Songtaew driver maybe wasn't paying attention, although he did seem to react quite quickly as soon as he noticed the man, and he didn't seem to be speeding looking at distant it took to stop. However, I do think he might have some mitigation, since the article states that the man was hit “while using a zebra crossing,” but the video shows the man starting to cross the road on the far side of the crossing from the driver’s perspective. Also, the man was wearing very dark colours which might make him harder to see at night.

  10. Hi everyone, since my last DL in 2024 (only got 2 years since entered on visa-exempt for that trip) I've heard varying reports on what is required for reverting back to a 5 year DL - some people have said that even tourists are now extended to 5 years in the case where they've already had the temporary 2 year one. Is that true? If not, do you think it would be possible to get the 5 year with a single entry Non-O?

Last time the lady at the counter told me she would have given me a 5-year if I had had a visa in my passport (she didn't say it needed to be an extension for a year though, just that it had to be a non-immigrant visa). However, I've also read that your extension of stay has to be valid for at least a year to be considered for 5 years.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
