VAT is paid at point of sale (retail), but the wholesalers and/or retailers pay import duties when they take possession of goods.

Well, one would assume that the current stock on the shelves in your local shop were purchased weeks or months prior, so can't expect the retailers to just take a loss for your benefit. However, it would be interesting to see by how much prices go down in 7/11 et al next month. I will be surprised if they go down at all.

Removing Section 112 has nothing to do with overthrowing the democratic regime of the government with the King as the head of state.
The UK has a democratic regime of government with the King as head of state without a Section 112.
They aren't even talking about getting rid of it, just amending it to be more appropriately used.

However, an inquiry showed that the firm, registered as a tour guide business, is not operating under a nominee.
So what's the point of including it in the article then? It's just smeering the guy's name more for no reason. (No, I don't condone his behaviour or think hes' an angel)

Can you imagine a Bangkok street circuit? 🙄
There was supposed to be a race in 2015, but that never happened due to legislation banning street racing in Bangkok (was never going to anyway, the whole "plan" was wishful thinking from the start)

No need to answer, it is a rhetorical question.
Indeed. He's worried about then children, but they've been smoking weed (and meth) forever and will continue to do so. They're not the ones entering the tourist weed shops and spending 300 - 1000 for a gram. The tourists are - that's where the 1.2 Billion is coming from since it's the legal and reported (and taxed) part of weed in the country. Are they really going to cut 40 Billi9n THB from the economy? No, not only that. The next paragraph that you quote clearly states that she was in Thailand for 13 days (contrary to her claim). So it's fabricated.

I'll save everyone the trouble. This thread will be posts along the lines of:
1) This rule is stupid.
2) If you think this rule is stupid, then you're an alcoholic
3) Thailand is technically not a Buddhist country by law, why not have bams for other religious holodays?
4) You can still drink, just not buy. Again, stupid rule.
5) Real religious people won't drink anyway.
6) Stock up in advance.
7) My local mom 'n pop still sells.
😎Tourists will be pissed (angry or drunk or both?)
9) Don' t forget, you're an alcoholic for questioning this rule.
10) This rule is stupid, but TIT.

This country and stupid laws. Gambling Is illegal (except for horse racing and the lottery). Now I learn that there is a "Class B" of gambling which is legal for 20 year olds and over to participate in, but then also learn that snooker was classified as such an activity, which is ridiculous. Where is the gamble? The fact that your ball might not go in the hole? So is golf also Class B gambling??

Yep, they're skimming everywhere. Down south, I've seen the lines of farm workers doing their 90 day reporting. However, each of them are also charged a service fee of 100 Baht. Last time I was in, I saw them take about 5,000 Baht for this service in about 30 minutes. I wonder how many workers are charged this fee monthly?

In previous years you would have to have held a Thai down and forcibly put a pair of the things on them and then give them 6 months pay to walk even 100 yards wearing them. If walking past anyone they knew then a years pay would have been needed, for the humiliation.
I imagine 99.99% of Thai's still feel the same way now though it may be changing. Slowly.
As someone just pointed out in another post, any farang wearing a pair is instantly viewed as a cheap charlie. Actually, much worse than that..
Over the years I have tried a pair for a laugh that were intended to be a present for a farang in farangland, on a couple of occasions.
Never again, which is a shame as they are actually super things to wear in the Thai climate, but I could see I was instantly transformed from a foreigner with money into something the cat dragged in the eyes of any Thai that saw me.
If you must wear them then stick to backpacker ghettoes. The Thai's there are experts at hiding their disgust, for obvious reasons.
Simon
It might be where you are - sure, the Bangkok crowd aren't wearing them to the mall but in my family's hometown they're seen everwhere and the shops that sell them aren't targeting foreigners. They're not that "new" either. My father-in-law is nearly 80 and very conservative "old school" Thai. He's been wearing them around the house for years (as long as I've known him. They're comfortable.

I have yet to see an adult look good in them and I am flummoxed why people actually use them as street wear.
Do they think it will get them 10% off all purchases? 🤔
They're the most comfortable long trousers/pants I own. I've never cared too much if they "look good" - they're just extremely comfortable in the heat.

Absolute garbage from Tulsatith Tabtim. It starts with this nonsense:
"No outsider can really tell who is right and who is wrong."
and gets worse from there. Do yourself a favour and don't click on the link to the original (very long) article by the pseudo-intelectual Tulsatith.

Actually, its a good decision. Melbourne is several hundred Ks south of Sydney , so were going past it on the way. Canberra Airport is in a hole in the mountains, and if weather is marginal wouldnt be a good choice. Also the airport may not be suitable or the aircraft..
They were definitely NOT going past Sydney on the way:

"Cleared of this, which shows the court to be neutral . This sets it up nicely for a party dissolution next week which then surely wouldn't be political because the court is "neutral". "
Wish I had been wrong.

The obligatory "kratom and cannabis bash" slipped into the caption. So we're not expected to believe that the proceeds were used for anything else like food or clothes or petrol or booze or literally dozens of expenses that we all have (criminals included)?? Absolute trash reporting from KhaoSod.
