do all these dogs wander around? are they all in fenced yards? what are you suggesting? someone went around and had multiple poisoned doggy treats? for what motivation?
I am an animal lover. Always have been. However since coming to Thailand, that has waned a lot. I am unable to go for a nice long walk as no matter where I go, dogs will chase me down and show no fear when there are 3 or 4 of them. I have had to adjust my walking route so many times that now I am at the point of desperation. I can see the motivation for wanting to kill these dogs. I wouldn't do that but letting packs of dogs dictate my life is not something I want to happen. The owners don't seem to care. alt=blink.png width=20 height=20>
An animal lover who thinks that it is OK to kill dogs because they are inconvenient to him.
and when my dog, that I let wander, with no responsibility, bites you, kills your child or walks in front of your wife's motorbike on the soi, causing her to crash, you will keep your same dog loving attitude???? Doubt it.

They're all gonna get off, i hope you all realize this.
Well sure. I mean they only killed a farang, and there are always more of those...

And I used to think Finnegans Wake was unreadable.
As for me, as soon as I see a poster refer to himself in the 3rd person, not to mention his own self-imposed nickname, i stop reading before I spend time I will never get back...

O.k.........sorry.........
I'll try to be more specific.I'm teaching elementary school aged kids.
So sometimes when you ask a question you use to do as the auxiliary verb and sometimes to be....as in
DO you like English and ARE you hungry.
The Thai teacher asked me which is right....DO you hungry or
ARE you hungry.
I answered it's ARE you hungry and she said WHY.
What do I say next
Simplest way for a Thai to understand is DO refers to an action, while ARE refers to a condition. Not perfect but Thais should understand.

The answer to your question is: what do you valuemore? A life you love, or a large bank account. I know of lots of people who died miserable with money in the bank they never got to spend.

I would only fight for Thailand if it was to defend my family. However, if there was a revolution, where the poor rose up against the rich and corrupt; count me in.

I love Thailand but options are limited here unless you are on an ex-pat package from your company or living off a trust fund. For normal working class foreigners, it can be hand to mouth and you can never really assume anything. I have been here four years and leave the end of the month for a new job in Malaysia. However, my goal is to save and work there for 3-4 years and return to Thailand permanently as soon as I have my nest egg.

Thai Government announces to disabled people: "If you don't have the good taste to die at home, please stay out of our line of site because we don't like to look at unpleasant things". It would take 5000 years to make even Bangkok remotely handicapped accessible. Why else would the BTS be built with only a few elevators and then on only one side of the street?

Who will arrest the police and army? The post office?

I have been living in Thailand for several years. I have an MA and Ph.D. in the poverty and violence reduction field and worked in my country for the state and federal government in this field. A while back my day job was lucrative and I wanted to do something to help my Thai community and the people who no one cares about. I sent several e-mails to both her and several other government department offices offering free consultation when I read they were looking for ideas (offering for free what they would pay a fortune for an outsider to do). Of course not one reply. Thailand loves their dysfunction and will never change because there is always someone important benefiting from it.

Ahh those wacky Thai police........ Always sort of amusing to see their constant presence as a creator of crime,
rather than a force to stop crime. First he attempts to intimidate the witness against him, and then he kills her.
Maybe time for Thailand to rethink their bail laws........
What laws? The rich or connected walk and the peasants rot in prison. I know a Thai friend who is doing 4 years because when the police pulled over their taxi her bf put his 5 tabs of ya-ba in her purse. 5 hits gets her 4 years. Rape murder and stealing millions gets not one hour in jail. When Thailand starts the revolution I will volunteer to man the guillotine.

Brown eyes is a dominant geen so you would (generally) need more that 50% blue eye geens for a child to have blue eyes. Happens, but not common.

When will he understand that the people don't want them anymore, that they are unsafe, rogue, armed and extortionate.
A 10 or 20B baht bus system for Patong (same as Pattaya), regular pink buses between the beaches and the existing shuttle to and from the airport, plus some legal metered taxis with Bangkok rates. Period.
Why is it no one mentions that the governors son is president of the Phuket tuk-tuk association (read as mafia that controls taxis, motor-taxi and car taxis". The irony of the head of the island getting a direct payoff from his son for the activities is beyond pathetic.

I am 58 and I am in the top 10% income bracket of the USA. I am far from a loser. I could buy this forum 10 times over.
I am sure we are all happy for you but being a loser is who you are, not what you have. Lots of rich losers because they are unpleasant and arrogant, lots of poor winners because they are happy and decent people. I am sure you are rich and happy.

Sounds to me like he is fishing for a loan, "I have paypal". If I had 10 baht for every time a foreigner told me he had plenty of money in the bank but couldnt access it at the moment, could I loan him some money, I could take a holiday. Maybe I am just skeptical of new posters with money problems who need help sorting it out. Perhaps it is also because over the last month his post conflict "We live together in UK". " I live in UK, but wife in Thailand", "we live together in Isaan"... Maybe he is on the up and up, but in 4 years in Thailand I have only been cheated by Brits...

Funny how most farang think they speak thai better than they actually do. It pains me to hear the typical farang add the words "mak mak" to every english word and thinks he is fluent. I have found that speaking thai in tourist hells like Pattaya and Phuket is useless because 99% of foreigners dont speak it so the Thais assume you cant, and dont bother listening. When I speak Thai out in the sticks I get a much better reception and they make more effort to understand.

Hello TV members. After four years in Thailand I am going to have to move to another country for work for the next several years and realize I have not seen enough of Thailand. I am considering riding my bike (CBR 250) from BKK to Chiang Mai and back for a holiday. Has anyone done this trip? I am comfortable driving in Thailand and have driving as far as Phuket to BKK on same bike before. I am wondering if the route is nice or if there is a scenic route that is not too far out of the way. Any advice is appreciated.

You can get a labor attorney and take them to court, but assume your job will be done, they will fire you for any real or made up reason after you take legal action. Thais don't like to be called on their cheating. Decided if it is worth it before you take action.

This country has 95% dirt poor people, 3% Middle class and 2% ultra rich. Too bad they don't teach about the French revolution in school here. Could make a fortune in selling guillotines.

The bottom line is "budget".
The BIB are low paid. Important job.
Teachers are low paid. Important job.
I can go on and on and on.
This is Thailand.
Don't compare Thailand in any way with Western Europe USA or Australia.
True, In my personal opinion, the people in Thailand with money are the most useless and lazy members of society. Thailand does not correlate wealth with worth.

Odd, I came here 4 years ago with $2500 and have never left. I have no rich family/friends, no assets back home, no investments to cash in (I lost everything to escape from my last divorce to a farang woman). However, I have never had to sleep on the street. Granted, I don't drink or do drugs (had enough in my younger days), I have never been conned or given a sob story (that I bought into)by a bar girl (but I know many bar girls). My wife I met here is NOT hi-so Chinese-Thai with a rich family and 2 MBA's. She is an Issan ex-factory worker and I am the only support for the family as she stays home and cares for our child. What did I do that kept me off the streets?
1. When I knew I was running out of money I got a job (and I wasn't picky, or arrogant, anything that pays the rent).
2. I didnt quit my job until I had a new one.
3. When my job ended unexpectedly I lived off what little I had saved, leaned back, and looked for another job,
4. I don't loan money I cannot afford to get back (and I NEVER loan to a farang anymore). Only time I was ripped off was by farangs.
5. I dont shop at Paragon or Emporium, I shop at Big C or the markets.
6. I don't spend 500 baht on a frang meal because the same amount would buy 10-15 Thai meals.
Now I don't live a rockstar lifestyle but i also dont live in misery. I am happy living within my means and have all my needs met. While I am just being honest and open, I am sure I will receive some type of critism, but my point is, most farang who bottom out here do so because of their own actions or stupidity. For ever case of asset theft or medical problems that spiraled out of control, there are 20 cases of blatent stupidity and arrogance; "Its the 3rd world, I am a European God, what could possibly go wrong???"
As it has been stated many times in this thread, most just don't listen. It is hard for me to feel sorry for them...

To make it simple, you need to spend about 100k baht for the legal paperwork and it will take about 2-3 months. Then you have to explain why (if you want a work permit) this job cannot be performed by a Thai. My guess is it will take years to break even and it is not worth the headache.
