  1. O.k.........sorry.........

I'll try to be more specific.I'm teaching elementary school aged kids.

So sometimes when you ask a question you use to do as the auxiliary verb and sometimes to be....as in

DO you like English and ARE you hungry.

The Thai teacher asked me which is right....DO you hungry or

    ARE you hungry.

I answered it's ARE you hungry and she said WHY.

    What do I say next

Simplest way for a Thai to understand is DO refers to an action, while ARE refers to a condition. Not perfect but Thais should understand.

  2. I love Thailand but options are limited here unless you are on an ex-pat package from your company or living off a trust fund. For normal working class foreigners, it can be hand to mouth and you can never really assume anything. I have been here four years and leave the end of the month for a new job in Malaysia. However, my goal is to save and work there for 3-4 years and return to Thailand permanently as soon as I have my nest egg.

  3. Thai Government announces to disabled people: "If you don't have the good taste to die at home, please stay out of our line of site because we don't like to look at unpleasant things". It would take 5000 years to make even Bangkok remotely handicapped accessible. Why else would the BTS be built with only a few elevators and then on only one side of the street?

  4. I have been living in Thailand for several years. I have an MA and Ph.D. in the poverty and violence reduction field and worked in my country for the state and federal government in this field. A while back my day job was lucrative and I wanted to do something to help my Thai community and the people who no one cares about. I sent several e-mails to both her and several other government department offices offering free consultation when I read they were looking for ideas (offering for free what they would pay a fortune for an outsider to do). Of course not one reply. Thailand loves their dysfunction and will never change because there is always someone important benefiting from it.

  5. Ahh those wacky Thai police........ Always sort of amusing to see their constant presence as a creator of crime,

rather than a force to stop crime. First he attempts to intimidate the witness against him, and then he kills her.

Maybe time for Thailand to rethink their bail laws........

What laws? The rich or connected walk and the peasants rot in prison. I know a Thai friend who is doing 4 years because when the police pulled over their taxi her bf put his 5 tabs of ya-ba in her purse. 5 hits gets her 4 years. Rape murder and stealing millions gets not one hour in jail. When Thailand starts the revolution I will volunteer to man the guillotine.

  6. When will he understand that the people don't want them anymore, that they are unsafe, rogue, armed and extortionate.

A 10 or 20B baht bus system for Patong (same as Pattaya), regular pink buses between the beaches and the existing shuttle to and from the airport, plus some legal metered taxis with Bangkok rates. Period.

Why is it no one mentions that the governors son is president of the Phuket tuk-tuk association (read as mafia that controls taxis, motor-taxi and car taxis". The irony of the head of the island getting a direct payoff from his son for the activities is beyond pathetic.

  7. Funny how most farang think they speak thai better than they actually do. It pains me to hear the typical farang add the words "mak mak" to every english word and thinks he is fluent. I have found that speaking thai in tourist hells like Pattaya and Phuket is useless because 99% of foreigners dont speak it so the Thais assume you cant, and dont bother listening. When I speak Thai out in the sticks I get a much better reception and they make more effort to understand.

  8. Hello TV members. After four years in Thailand I am going to have to move to another country for work for the next several years and realize I have not seen enough of Thailand. I am considering riding my bike (CBR 250) from BKK to Chiang Mai and back for a holiday. Has anyone done this trip? I am comfortable driving in Thailand and have driving as far as Phuket to BKK on same bike before. I am wondering if the route is nice or if there is a scenic route that is not too far out of the way. Any advice is appreciated.

  9. The bottom line is "budget".

The BIB are low paid. Important job.

Teachers are low paid. Important job.

I can go on and on and on.

    This is Thailand.

Don't compare Thailand in any way with Western Europe USA or Australia.

True, In my personal opinion, the people in Thailand with money are the most useless and lazy members of society. Thailand does not correlate wealth with worth.
