  1. It looks like the people that do not like MK seem not to understand that it is a resturant with its own gimick.Do not go if that is what you do not like. The wife and everyone that I know enjoy their dinning experience that we get at MK.No it is not some "high class"spot it is one of its self.If I did not like McDonalds (which I HATE and think is one of the worst places to eat in the WHOLE world). But if you like that food go for it.It does not mean that it is a bad place to eat, just the I do not like it.

  2. Looks like good value to me too. I reckon the tenderfoot (or tendergut) types that mistrust the hygeine of everyone but themselves, and see a health risk in everything, lack the intestinal fortitude to experience all the good stuff. Stay home, overcook your boiled falang veges and let the more adventurous of us enjoy life. :)

  3. Hi,

there have been a few opinions on the cost of holidaying in Thailand. I went online and did the following 10 minutes of research.

    Cost for a family of 2 adults & 2 children (8 year old & 3 year old):-

    . Florida Bangkok

Car Hire Economy Two Door £124 £132

    Holiday (including flights & accomodation) £2,359 £3,572

Cost of one beer in a bar £2.50 £1.80

Entry fees Crocodile Farm £33 £21

Eating out (per meal at acceptable restaurant) £35 £25

Thailand has great beaches, and few things for the kids to do.

Florida has great beaches, and loads of things for the kids to do.

To compair Florida to Thailand is like compairing apples to durians. They are not even close to being the same. :)

  4. Hi Kamalabob2

I am under the impression that the form is only being distributed to dubious individuals :) Needles to say I do not have one! :D

    TBWG :D

You wait until you get to Swampy in a few months. 2 burly ladyboy Customs Officials are waiting with rubber gloves on, to check you out ! :D

    Dave

Now that sounds like fun. :D

  5. Now that looks like a pretty good deal for 35thb 2 sausage,1 egg,1 bacon,1 ham,1 omlet and some vegs.Great breakfast for 35thb,if that is what you like. But I think the table full would be another great breakfast, even if it does look more like mid day or evening meal.

  6. The best price quotes I'm getting for travel to Bangkok from the U.S. are on airlines like United and Northwest. I didn't enjoy Northwest to Bangkok as the entertainment options were more like you'd see in the 1980s, i.e. no AVOD or even video display at each seat, just a movie screen at the front of the compartment. Horrible, in this day and age, I think. But how about United, do they have AVOD (personal video in the seatback in front of you where you can watch your own channels, movies and shows on demand and a pause/play button) on their Boeing 777 to Tokyo and from there 747 to Bangkok? Anyone know? Talking about economy class.

How's the service on United in general?

I just checked and it looks like Northwest has brought back the A330 on the NRT-BKK route. The last time I flew on their A330, there was a AVOD system so I presume that it is the same as now.

Is not the Air bus A330 the one with the problems with the speed sensers?Wich could be the cause of the crash off of Brazil just the other day.I myself enjoy flying with Korean Air from the US to BKK.I have never had a bad flight and that includes with the kids. The price is always competitive with other airlines. The food is good,as long as you get the Korean meal. The other meal sucks. They have a good selection of movies in the seat back and they do seem to care about you when you ask for something. The one thing that I have noticed is the people that like to drink alot of alcohol will have a problem. They do not like to let you get drunk. That is a good thing though.

  7. Unless you are planning on cashing a LARGE amount of money, travler cheks are not the way to go.The fee will eat up any savings.Unless you think getting a satong or two more for your money is worth it and the hasle of finding a place to cash them. You will also find that many banks will not cash them and almost no money exchanges wil.

  8. Blue eyes,

Tex Mex is not the same as Mexican food. :) ...which is it?  Best Mexican food or best Tex Mex? :D

That is why I said "let me re state this"It was an edit to say that it is not the most authintic Mexican food but the best Tex-Mex food.It is still a very good product that they turn out if you are looking for something other then Thai food.

    Gun

Amsterdam come on.....that video is a fake and will do nothing but make the anti gun idiots say, see I told you those gun people are crazy. One thing that rixalex is forgeting is that no mater where you live in Thailand, is that,if you are a "farang"you are a "target".You are perseved to be "rich" and even if the area that you live in is considered "safe" you are the one target for the crimanal! This I can attest to as fact.As back in 1969 we were targets and we lived in a safe area in Bangkok, right next to the milatary base. Now it is in rural Issan and we know just about everyone in the area. But that is not the problem it is the crimanals that drive down the road and see the "farang" home.If they know you are armed they go elswere or they get shoot. :D

Happy and on target shooting :)

  9. I need to send a letter to my gf's house near Mahasarakham and I was wondering if I should put the address in Thai as well as English. It just seems a bit presumptuous (not sure a big word like that fits with my normal limited vocabluary) to assume that whoever delivers the letter will understand English, even though they probably will.

When we send mail it is always written in English.Only 1 time has anything gone missing in all these years.

  10. Hello everybody

  11. The somtum looks as if there is no suace or chilli....

I would take a guess that is because it has not been "pounded"yet.Som tum always tastes best right out of the "crock".

    Any ideas?

I really like the one that you do not want I have used it for years.I have never seen the one that you are looking for but it looks like it would work much easier.I hope some one can find for us.

  13. If your wife's skills at cooking aren't really up to par, why not encourage her to go to cooking school or picking up a cookbook. Make it a team project and have fun!

    TheWalkingMan

I collect cook books so there is no shortage of that in the home,a couple of book cases of.She has taken to looking on different Thai web sites to see and read recipes. She has a journal that she copies the recipes into that she wants to try.We have a very large garden so we have many herbs, vegtables and fruits. It is really great to walk out the door any time day or night and have what you need for to eat in the garden.

  14. If you are joining me on the side of the chickens it is unlikely that you will be entitled to a zinger burger - my personal fight is to get the flavouring changed in the zinger as the Thais seem to make it a bit too dry.

pay me and i'll fight for what ever you like :o

Which would you prefer breasts, legs, thighs or wings or a combo with that as payment.Oh forgot ,regular or extra crispy? :D
