  1. Yes, it’s super annoying, especially here in CM. But I guess they are watching out for red light runners, irrespective of whether the roads are empty or not.
  2. What a nasty thing to say (but I love it lol). I guess they’ve never driven an EV so they don’t really know what good acceleration means. Someone who’s only ever eaten tam tai doesn’t know how good tam pu plala tastes.
  3. I’m really envious of those posters that have a Seal. Sadly, being a saloon/sedan, it’s not very practical for me as I have a few dogs and I also need the versatility of a SUV and hatchback. My Dolphin does 0-100 in 7 seconds and that’s plenty fast for me.
  4. My landscaper installed a 6 zone automated sprinkler system for me consisting of pop up rotors and spray heads. He used a Rainbird controller and 6 24VDC solenoids. Not sure of the brand but on the packaging, it said made in Italy. No need for any control boxes. Just plug the controller directly into the mains and then thin gauge wires out to the solenoids. A much more elegant system than having single or dual zone manual timers.
  5. The onus is on you to know the rules of the country you are visiting. It doesn’t make sense for every petrol station in the country to put up signs stating this regulation. And even if they did, chances are that the signs would’ve been in Malay and possibly English. You can argue it’s not fair but it is what it is. Potentially, both the offender and in this case the petrol station owner are subject to fines.
  6. That’s what I thought.
  7. Probably none which is why the manufacturer is happy to warranty it.
  8. ‘Foreign license plate vehicles can refuel at gas stations in Malaysia, but only with benzene 97, not benzene 95, which is subsidized by the Malaysian taxpayer.” Which part of the above didn’t you all understand?
  9. How I and millions of other road users stay alive, year after year. I do sometimes get on my litre bike and cover a couple of hundred kms in one and a half hours or so to inject some stimulus into my otherwise mundane existence.
  10. Bank statement will suffice.
  11. Absolutely hahaha. I have no qualms though as parts of the Malaysian government (police, immigration) has stolen lots from me too.
  12. Shocking if true. And the diesel there is much cleaner too. I don’t think I have ever seen a diesel car/truck in the UK spewing out the black fumes like you do here.
  13. I know this is off topic but it’s the absolute conviction of some of these posters that the only narrative they know is the right one and they are absolutely unwilling to hear the alternative (and sometimes the right) narrative. This is a good example of what I mean. Kishore is well known in diplomatic circles. Google him.
  14. Like with many anti-EVers, he clutches desperately at any straw, no matter how ridiculous or inaccurate to try and make his case. I wish more posters would be like @josephbloggs who doesn’t yet own an EV and comes on here looking for firsthand information from EV owners. He is now totally familiar with the pros and cons of an EV, whether it’s suitable for him based on his lifestyle and living circumstances. I love my Dolphin. But it won’t work for me if it was my only car. That’s why I also have a PHEV which allows me to drive long distances into the back of beyond and not worry about getting stranded or taking too much time. I can understand that if one can only afford one car, the safer bet would be an ICE. But coming on here and stating that EVs are a heap of rubbish is just ignorance.
  15. It’s amazing how so many are unable to comprehend and understand a straightforward article. Living in a country with an average 86 IQ must be having its effect. This lady is either silly or inexperienced. When I fill up my Thai registered vehicle in Malaysia, I do it during off peak hours (usually at night). Also, I choose the last kiosk, out of sight of the store attendant. I never fill up at a station where there is a pump attendant. I also open my trunk so that if there’s another vehicle behind me, they can’t see my number plate. I get my gf to rummage in the boot, pretending to look for something to allay suspicions as to why my boot is open. If there is no one behind, then I get her to stand in front of the vehicle to block the registration plate in case the store attendant is looking out at my car. Knowledge, experience and intelligence plays a big part when you want to get the better of the government. I’m thinking of doing something about my number plates next time I go to Malaysia.
  16. In town, presumably stop and go traffic, even a bus can keep up so what’s the point of any decent acceleration? Acceleration is really only needed for overtaking or when joining traffic. Most EVs would leave the average ICEV in its dust.
  17. Sadly, you will need an open mind to watch this video.
  18. Some people say that smoking shortens your life. Park your nose next to a diesel exhaust, I’ll bet your life will be significantly shortened.
  19. Be careful when you travel to Scandinavia, particularly Sweden and Norway. An EV might explode just as you’re walking past, lol.
  20. So you’re actually anti-China rather than anti-EV?
  21. Would you buy a BYD an EV?
  22. Some (not many) EV owners are nuts, I agree. None on this forum are ‘planet savers’, from what I have read. Money savers, yes. Reduced air and noise pollution, yes. Improved ride comfort, performance, convenience, yes. Pony tailed vegans, no.
  23. As an “EVangelist”, I’m pro-EV, not anti-ICEV. Some pro-ICEVs however are anti-EV. Maybe it’s time for dictionaries to redefine the meaning of evangelism.
  24. Yes, the risks of owning an EV are so great that EV manufacturers are struggling to survive. CEOs of Toyota, Ford , Mazda etc are rejoicing.
  25. I avoid sitting in old cars. The rattling will probably shake my dentures off. But at least, according one poster, the Datsun Sunny (which I believe was originally 1.2 litre) is a classic car. Shouldn’t it be a Nissan Sunny and Datsun 1200 instead?
