kingstonkid replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
check out that newspaper we are not to tal about they outline a lot more. I think you can call this an accident the driver had never taken this route before. It was 7 at night, and his only job was driving the bus. Lighting and side barriers may have played a part in it as teh bridge was under construction. , but the driver was charged with reckless driving causing death. -
British Tourist Dies After Fall from Pattaya Hotel

Balconies here are not made with the same purpose as in the western world here, I think it is more of an aesthetic -
This is going to be an interesting court case. First Question How many people here when they get a girl for a short time ask her for ID? If the legal age to work in a bar is 18, then the assumption that we all make is that the girls are 18 or older and have an ID that says so. The question then becomes, did he know that they were under 18, and can they prove that he did? When we were younger, we had all known people, male and female, who had fake IDs to get into bars. Unless the girl told you her age, you would never know if she was 16-20 in a lot of cases, especially here in Thailand.

possible to break a lease contract ?
kingstonkid replied to domdom's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
That has all been covered in my rental agreements that I have signed. -
I just bumped into this on YOUTUBE. Is it as big a deal as it seems? I am surprised that it does not get the coverage that the US press gives things.

If he is staying in Phuket for at least the first couple of days then really all he needs is his hotel booking for that time. The hotels will keep track of him after that , won't they? As for a visa for Muay Thai, I realize this is new, but does he not have to have a gym accept him or at least know the ones in the area?

the new SIRUWAN -
I think the mission is far frm completed. Consider that very soon you are going to have a lot of young people with nothing to do with their time. These are teh same people that protested before. Considering the people that voted for MFP and the age groups, this is a huge issue. There are going to be protests, and there will be people arrested for Lese charges. LOL imagine what it would be like if they had this in the UK. This is far from over, and if the MFP has to change its name again, so be it. Remember how many times Thaksin has changed the name of his party? Will most of us see the change in our lifetimes? I don't think so but the fuse has been lit. The elites that are pushing this are getting older. The young people are getting, if not wiser, more vocal and are starting to make inroads with other age groups. this is a battle that, actually, if you read what they want, even the average people who support Lese Majeste would agree. Does the person sitting at the table beside you and eavesdrops on your take ing with your GF/wife or another person have the right to charge you with this?

There is ot SEXUAL ANYTHING READ THE REPORT. WHAT IS CONSIDERED OBSCENE PURPOSES. http://www.thailawforum.com/articles/indecency-challenge-thailaw2.html If he took pictures of her in a sexy pose or showing a bit of breast or nipple it is possibly obscene. Therefore let me surmise that the following is possible. The girl likes the teacher. We all know that the favourite pastime of Thai teens is selfies or taking pictures of how beautiful they are. The teacher and student go to dinner or for a walk, and he takes pictures of her looking sexy. Nothing untoward, but definitely not the pics that Mom or Dad would want. Just pics that a Thai teen would want to have taken. Mom and Dad see pics and blow a gasket. Go to the police and want him thrown in jail without the key. Police ask the appropriate questions and the best they can come up with is "taking away a minor aged more than 15-years-old but not more than 18-years-old from her parents or guardian without proper reason for obscene purposes" Not high on the scale and really not something they are going to rush to solve. School, in the meantime, does not need Dad and Mom going off the deep end, so they slap him on the hand and tell him he screwed up, and they have to let him go. Did the teacher do anything LEGALLY WRONG? NO Did the girl do anything she should be ashamed of? no Can anyone else see the Good Moral Thai MOM and DAD going off the deep end? YES Sorry but to those that want him hanged and quarterd I think you need to read the rules. He did a nice (BUT BONEHEAD) thing that got him fired. -
Is 200 baht really worth the hassle? By the time you contact the owner, he comes and fixes it, you are looking at a week at best. Just go out to the DIY pick up a new hose and a set of vice grips.

I know a lot of Thais in BKK who travel to Pats and have good holidays. They enjoy the beach and things during the day. They have a late dinner and enjoy staying at nice hotels near Jomtien. Then there is the nightlife that is single couples no kids focussed. The issue is with the after-hours idiots (both Thai and tourists) It boggles my mind, be it Pats Puket or NANA, the families that walk around and look at things with their kids in tow. There are 2 different Pattayas. Just as there used to be 2 different Yonge Streets in Toronto. Two different Byward markets in Ottawa.

That is probably because they have to deal with BKK traffic instead of just driving in and driving out of Swampy.

Bank of Thailand urged to slash interest rates amid economic struggle
kingstonkid replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Lowering the national bank rate affects usually the rate that the average bank charges. In Canada there are interest rates that are the national rate plus x% Therefore the bank rate lowering here lowers the cost of borrowing that the Elite have to pay. As well as businesses having access to a lower borrowing rate there fore making more money for the banks. -

There is only one reason that PTP wants a crisis and that is the money they need for the wallets. -
The best thing they can do is get this to court quickly. Hold all concerned under arrest at a nice prison or give them Thaksins floor at the hospital. But make sure no one can leave the country and that the trial is open and complete. The challenge is going to be getting witnesses. I have a feeling that they can not extort an honest citizen therefore, these guys may not want it to go to court.

There is a lot that is confusing about this. Can any of the Pats crowd shed light on the Soi honey shops? Are they sketchy, or are they upfront on costs? I find it strange that a couple of Russians attacked a guy about a massage. in that manner. Also why would he be afraid if he was just a tourist he is not going to be here that long anyway. Sorry just seems off to me.

Student stabbed to death at a municipal school in Bangkok
kingstonkid replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I stand corrected I did mean to say unsupported. Unless, of course, it is a discussion as to who is right, the Thai teacher or NES. lol -
LOL I read that too. As I think a lot of us I have a hard time with her numbers are just not believable 6 lady drinks per hour, or one lady drink every 10 minutes, all night long, for 21 nights!
