  1. The problem is if the government leaves, then all the embassies leave. Businesses that work with the government leave. Will they be able to protect the palaces and the temples and keep it a turist hub. When businesses leave, that means fewer people needing accommodations. It would also be interesting to see how many of the Elite stay and how the schools do.
  2. LOL they probably will. Wonder how it is going to work in condos
  3. Are they going to have different trucks picking up the stuff. It makes little sense to put it into one truck. Also going to hurt the economy of the older people that go through the garbage to get the glass and plastics
  4. The major challenge of relocating the government is that businesses will likely follow, meaning most Thais will also move, which will lead to a decline in housing and a drop in support for businesses. Consider also that if they relocate the government and demolish a great deal of the historical buildings, tourism will suffer. There would be little left for people, and you have to wonder how many hotel chains will still be in Thailand (Bangkok) once that happens. One thing that is not mentioned is that if Bangkok is going through this, it would not be a significant leap in thought that Pattaya will also be affected, as well as possibly the eastern corridor. Itis going to be interesting to see a. if they do anything b. who does it c. when do they take it seriously d. do they use the Louisiana or Dutch method of dealing with it maybe wee need to be asking the same question as the lae Johnny Cash
  5. Remember, these girls have the same bills that we do. Also, they don't make big money every night, even in high season. Add top that they have to put up with guys ike us and especially Lewie Bob. LOL Most only make 50 baht a drink
  6. Just heard about eroxon, https://eroxon.com/app/uploads/2023/03/eroxon-product-nsg.png itis avail on Lazada I am going to go see my pharmacy to see if it is avail.
  7. The problem is that ChidChob is smart enough to know that the best he can hope for in the house is second place. The people are fed up and want something new and right now that is the Peoples party. Having BJT as the main power in the senate is the next best thing. What would be interesting and I can see it as a possible is that First they rule against Thaksin and PTP throwing the election open. Then they rule against the senate and throw that open, People get a late summer fall of election fever. Thaksin gets to go back to Dubai with his sister, who will be severely pissed that he screwedup her chance to come home. We end up with PP in power, no senate to try to screw that up, BJT back as the unloyal opposition PTP, and the Dems wonder where it all went wrong.
  8. hey it is easy to be CEO when they are daddy's businesses. Consider CP and red bull the younger generatio in herits what daddy has. In this case, Daddy was limited as the grandkids are too young to be PM, and son said go to H or declined. Yingluck had some ability but again Thaksin fed her what she needed to say and do The bad news according the different media is that the farmers are getting tired of his song and dance as well.
  9. Not sure I think the elite are getting tired of daddy. The other thing to consider also is that Hun Sen promises that he has first on daddy where thaksin did things to better Thaksin and also promoted aniti monarchy. If any of that cmes out true or not it will be the end of the shin dynasty in Thailand and he does not have enough clout to be anything in Dubai..
  10. Yes but the problem or challenge that soes with this is the fact that he has 2 kids and these schools are not inexpensive I may be wrong, but to me, they should have taken a month when the kids were not in school to come here and try it out. I looked at the actual data, not the research online. Then they could have come here with a better plan, although to be honest, I am not sure they are telling the media everything. I would love to see how it goes and if i can find their tik tok might actually follow it.
  11. Oh, but I long for the days of Lake DMK. LOL
  12. Yeah the oly challenge is are the parents are qualified skills-wise, to teach their kids at a level that will aid them getting into good Matayom schools
  13. Being a good parent legally, it is not but what happens if you so break his arm or gets sick, where does the money come from for hospital It is easy for us tht have no family to do the self-finance, not as easy for a fmaily of 4.
  14. how many people in your family here, and what are their ages Again, though, we are talking about a guy coming here with no job or job prospects and 2 kids. There are a lot of things that yu can do if you have the money. The question is wilhe have the money and wil it be enough to get him through life here So far he has rent food and incident school fees insurance OA top up Not sure of the amounts, but guaranteed that he is going to have an issue.
  15. If you have 2 kids and are living here on a thin budget, you are damn right it is compulsory.
  16. I would also like to add that I think visiting the Brit club might not be a bad idea. They may be able to get assistance and advice there.
  17. Never fails just booked weekend in Pats
  18. There are a few challenges, and from reading everything here, it seems there is a lot more to the story. I am sure @CharlieH can expoubnd on the visa situation BUT a. If he is going to use Thai schools, then he will have to use the high-class ones because his kids will not be able to handle Thai schools. b. Visas are going to be a headache c. Teaching is only a financial stopgap and causes issues because he does not have the qualifications to get a work permit. Thus limiting where he is going to get work When he gets older, he will face significant financial challenges because leaving early means receiving a smaller Old Age Pension. As for his house in the UK, it's a coin flip because you're not guaranteed to get good rental tenants. Personally, if he has family in the town, then I would have them look after the house and rent it out on a one-year rental agreement. That way if it all goes to hell here he can go back and have at least a place to stay. Question for my smarter members who teach in international schools What are the requirements for admission for an international student besides being reasonably well off
  19. This is the government's attempt to appear strong and not seem foolish. The bottom line to all this is simply lowering the tariffs on American products and signing a MOU stating that the government will not sanction companies that relabel Chinese products for sale outside the country. The arrival of naval ships from around the world should be a positive development and cause widespread celebration. A lot of horny sailors landing near Phuket or Pattaya should make TAT highly aroused.
  20. What has also happened is that a lot of the crap stuff people used to buy, they aren't just asking TEEMU and SHEIN. As to why he is doing it consider the amount of duty on booze 20-40 on beer 30-40 everything else cigarettes 60-90% cars 30-50% While it is not just U'S' products it still hurts. The difference is that Trump has said enough. Tell me that the Aussies and other western countries would not love to see Thailand lower its duties and will follow through with their own demands if Thailand lowers the duties for American products. https://www.tmathaigroup.com/blogeng/index.php/post/34.html
  21. LOL I think it is jealousy. He tried to be a teacher and no school would hire him. The fact that he used to be a teacher is about as important as his I was a US soldier. Who cares. The point is that he is not a tourist has obviously lived here awhile. We can chalk it up to the fact that he needs help, or he went out and had a little too much, possibly had a recent personal issue, and had too much to drink. This is simply going to be a WAI and baht situation unless he has done this before.
  22. I spend a lot of time on Suk between NANA and asoke To me there is nothing wrong with the sidewalk on the odd side however there is room to improve on the even side but with the present constructionin the area not a good move. Where they could make life a lot better is Suk 11 It is a disaster zone, The one side with o business is old The side with the businesses is not wide enough with the foot traffic. Suk 4 from Sukhumvit to Suk 16 alley should be one-way. You can then widen the sidewalks and reduce the confusion. This would make it better for people, as right now you are stuck walking on the street. In all cases, yes, they need to get rid of the overhanging wires and then the poles. If you do that as well as limiting stalls it will make things easier. At present there is an area that will soon no longer be selling pot that could be used by the noodle lady at the front of the Plaza. Also, making it one way you might be able to move the stalls to one side of street
  23. Opinions are like anal orifices everyone has one. There were a myriad of examples joe wasn't all there. Please give your proof.
  24. I think his time is coming, I think the PTP will not be as popular as he thinks the PP will, smarten up and be ready next election and could either get a majority or close enough. I still think the jet is warming up and that he will be leaving soon. The only question left will be whether a person not living in Thailand can fund and run a political party. This is something that I think PP and BJT could very well get behind. Once that is done, the PTP is finished or will start to become a joke.
