Something you need to be thinking of is long term for your wife. Get her a SSN and report her on your taxes... If you want any hope of her getting SS when you pass away!!! I made sure I got my wife's citizenship done before we departed the USA... That isn't an option not living in the USA, but protecting her with an entitlement is very important long term consideration... Please look into this and how to get her future a little more secure! Also make sure you have a will in the USA and Thailand for her sake!!

Thank you WingFat for the benefit of the doubt - No, I'm not 1 of those "secretly wealthy" trying to milk the system. As I said in my OP, I'm a non-filer because it's what the IRS told me to be.

Pilot3Boz - My wife has never been to the states and, IMHO, wouldn't survive the 3 yr living requirement to qualify for citizenship and/or collection of my SS after I die. (Thai withdraw and isolation from friends/family would killed her, metaphorically) We've been married for 17 of the 21 yrs I've been here in Thailand and believe me when I say, we've looked everywhere we can think of to get her full spousal benefits w/o the living requirement. (She's a law professor and I'm a recently covid retired teacher)<-a whole other story)

She has friends that are married to Americans and I have American friends married to Thais and they all say the same thing as the IRS; "Minimum 3 yr residency".

If you know something new I'd love to hear about it as we've pretty much lost hope on that front. ????

I transferred my bike, coincidentally from a German guy, who had moved to the Philippenes with just a signed copy of his passport main page and a signed Power of Attorney - no visa stamps.

I bought a bike in Krabi from a friend of the owner who had already moved back to the states. They had gotten the checklist of documents needed from their local DMV. I bought it, rode it 1,000 km home and was unable to register it in my name (14 yrs ago so details are vague). Asked about registering it in my wife's name; "Oh, OK. We can do that". lol Same bike, same documents, same office, same supervisor. Good Luck

  3. Posting this here because I'm not sure where is the best place.

Wondering if anyone has received the US Covid payments as Married. I'm married, a non-filer and have never applied for a TIN for my Thai wife. When I filled out the form for non-filers I filled it out as single because my wife isn't a US citizen and doesn't have a TIN. I received all 3 payments.

My question is, can I apply for a TIN for my wife, amend my status to married and get another $3,200 deposited into my account? or should I just let sleeping dogs lie as it were?

No flaming please because free money is free money. ????

  4. Because, according to our leader, all healthcare workers have been vaccinated making her immune and unable to transmit the virus.

On a side note, my wife has been informed that she must have an updated covid test to travel home from BKK for Song Kran. This comes from our home and not from BKK. Seems there are/will be check points and you will be turned back w/o it.

    (home is Nakhon Nayok Province)

  5. if moving the computer to the tv won't work, buy a PS5 or PS6 (Play Station) and put it next to the tv and then connect the HDMI. They run around 15-17k baht and work better and faster than most standard CPUs.

Might even find a few games you'll enjoy playing on a big screen.

Wireless mouse and keyboard are the best option also (Logitec as suggested earlier).

Thanks for your reply. 6 weeks doesn't sound too bad. I believe, since March 2020, they put everything online. Documents are checked and verified AT Khurusapa but then the onus is on the school/individual to upload the documents onto an e-portal. But accounts of how long this process takes from upload are very thin on the ground.

well, the 90 day reporting has been online for 3-4 (?) years now and they've almost got it working correctly.

Back when I did it it was a TCT form letter to the university returned directly to TCT in a sealed envelope. You had to bring everything to them yourself including the mailing address for the university.

  7. The non-O only expires when the wife does so if she is tied to you based on you having a job.... ????

Cost of canceling a WP lies with the employer NOT canceling it. The only cost to you is if you need a new 1 right away to start a new job and the previous employer hasn't canceled yet. (you can only have 1 active at a time)

Do you think that if one player has a device, then everyone in that fourball during a competition, should be entitled to use it?

Do you think that everyone in your fourball should be entitled to wipe their balls with your towel? Do you think that everyone in your fourball should be entitled to grab tees from your bag? Do you think that everyone in your fourball should be entitled to use your new driver? Should I go on or is my point sinking in?
